Kespa gave a match loss because when someone asked to pause the game he typed ppp instead of pp. If they were that harsh on a pause then Destiny wouldn't even be remotely close to be considered a programmer. If Kespa handled Destiny it would have been swifter and harsher than anything SC2 fanboys have done. But it would have been done professionally, and not by an email with the subject saying "HERP DERP" or something really fucking retarded like these poor sponsors must have received.

This thread is going no-where. It's just beating a dead horse, over and over and over. This thread has outlived any useful discussion and should be closed. The same arguments keep coming up, page after page. It's annoying more than anything now.
Can't really say that this thread was destined for greatness.

"eSports" is being strangled to death by these people who claim every fucking thing they do is "for the good of it".
The amount of white-knighting cowards who make shit like this happen makes me ashamed to be part of this community. It really makes me think that in the end, perhaps games should stay games, and that "legitimizing" them may not be a good direction for competitive gaming. I never even fathomed the idea of myself being against the growth of eSports, but there it is.
Still love you though Destiny, hope you never stop streaming <3 keep doing your thing man. Hopefully being team-less will cut out a lot of the bullshit that comes with having an uncensored stream like yours.

I take that to mean you emailed quantic's sponsors in this case? Shame on you. I'd like to see the people who emailed the sponsors actually admit to it in this thread, but I doubt they will. And it's telling that they aren't willing to admit it. How do you feel about doing damage to Quantic and it's other players before even giving Quantic a chance to respond? You're Swedish - do you consider yourself a fan of Naniwa? What if he's going to lose some benefits as a result of this? What if this has caused him and other Quantic players worry which hurts their practice mindset? Was there no other way to communicate your opinion to Quantic than to go straight to their sponsors? I think that deep down, the people who contacted the sponsors realize that it wasn't really to carry the banner of justice and do the right thing for esports. It was just to fulfill some cynical urge in them to be destructive and incite drama. And that's why I haven't seen a single person in this thread admit to it directly (though someone correct me if I've missed it). The bottom line is that you're doing more harm than good. We would be better off without you as a "fan". Now let's see if any of them will admit to it in response to this, or if they will just continue to hide in their little holes. i emailed razer. and i stand by it. personally, i think any racism in any form is absolutely disgusting, and im exactly the same in real life. if people i know act racist tell them not to, and if they keep doing it i stop any associations with them. if you are stupid enough to think that e sports can grow beyond what it is right now with behaviour like that your very stupid. and i dont feel bad about not giving quantic a chance to respond because if no one had made a fuss, they wouldn't have. it not the first time destiny has said thing that he wouldn't get away with in any other role, and they have continued to support him. if quantic had chosen destiny over razer they would have been silly, and deserved to fail as a team. and obviously, razer wouldn't have stopped supporting them unless they had no choice. so i dont feel bad about hypothetical situations that were very unlikely to happen. if you want the SC2 community to be consist solely of immature children and socially retarded adults who have no idea how the real world works, then indeed you would be better off without me as a fan, but since thats not what i want, its not something that im willing to give up basic principles to help. and im sure youll laugh at the basic principles bit, but to me, discrimination against anything that you cant help, be it race, sexual orientation, or just a problem you were born with is wrong and should be fought at every moment it rears its head. ive already stated why i think that destiny is actually a racist in the previous thread, and not, as many of his fanboys have said just using it as an expression of free speech, or in an attempt to help bring awareness to the problems, which is another laughable line that has been spouted several times. the bottom line is that while what i did may not have been good for destiny, its good for esports, and TL, to attempt to distance ourselves from things like this. if you want to have a SC2 scene where you can say things like that without getting in trouble, its called /vg/, and its fucking awful forcefully imposing your ideology onto others because you cannot change his action is equally disgusting. Not to mention the way you dealt with it is kind of a "backstabbing" action in community's eye well, if you think that destiny should use the word gook more, then i advise you to email razer and quantic stating that you think its no in common enough usage , and that you wont be supporting them unless its used at least once every time one of there players does anything in public. id also like to point out that im not 'imposing' 'my' ideology, im stating an opinion to a company, as a consumer, which is completely different. don't try to use ridiculously dramatic statements to back up a massively flawed argument. that's like saying 'by voting for X political party, your imposing your beliefs on others' and with regards to backstabbing, what the fuck are you talking about. if i was good friends with destiny, and hadn't made any comments on the matter, and then i went behind his back to get him kicked off the team, then i would be back stabbing. i guess you could accuse me of 'front stabbing', which would be massively inflating my individual role in this, but at least would make some sense

Stop debating the ethics of language and look at what the idiots who mailed the sponsors have done. I don't understand how people can't see past their internet white-knighting far enough to see that if sponsors keep getting bombarded with these stupid "emergencies" that they are going to get fed up with this and just pull out completely. Whether you're on Destiny's side or not, the masses are going to cripple E-sports by constantly attacking the sponsors with these petty issues. Destiny is one player and whether you like what he says or not, the sponsors care less for E-sports than random people do. Sponsors are in this to make money and if they have to constantly do damage control because our petty community can't handle one guy saying some offensive language, the sponsors will eventually say "fuck this, we're out." Stop trying to white-knight so hard and take a look at what this REALLY did to the community. The sponsors are going to get tired of this and back out.
Edit: And if you are against calling someone "retarded" then half of this board should have their accounts banned and their streams unlisted.

I was playing ladder and somebody called me a "fucking white-trash redneck cracker". I am greatly offended by this racist hate-crime. What are the major sites I can search so I can get his contact details and try to ruin his life? I want to do this for the community.
My little butt is so hurt by this. This is the perfect exaple of how stupid this sounds. ( I don't mean you Psychobabas, cuz I see what you did here ) Lets purify BM and "racism" from the internet, for the sake of esports. Oh shit there is no esports left... stand up comedy and blatant racial insults are totally and utterly different. You can see what destiny wrote in those screenshots and comparing it to a stand up comedian is utterly wrong. He is a racist simple as. He says those things because he is raging. Professional esports is trying to grow. Supporting racists will stop that growth. We don't like racists irl so why should we gamers tolerate racists ingame as well? Do you think Destiny actually hates Asians? If so, please explain why. If not, realize that there's a significant difference between the racists people rail against IRL (i.e. people who actively try to stop minorities from participating in some aspect of society) and people who use the word 'nigger' (i.e. about 99% of the english-speaking world). Destiny said something that would insult/hurt the other ethnic group he or she is speaking to. He deliberately went out of his way to insult a korean based on his race. Therefore that comment was a racist comment. Simple. So instead of using 'gook', Destiny used 'dumassfuck retard'. You'd be satisfied? No because that would be discriminatory based on a person's disability. Hey I can name at least 10 streamers who have used retard on their stream, wanna write to their sponsors with me too? I didn't write to any sponsors. I didn't even know about this until i saw this post and read up on it. But yeah you should tell those streams to stop using offensive language. Good man! And write to their managers, the managers are more likely to be able to handle the issue constructively with the streamer than you writing directly to a streamer. Be clear about why you find the word hurtful. Assume that the streamer did not use the word with the intention of being hurtful. And most importantly, be polite.

Funny how stephano doesn't need profanity to draw in a ton of viewers. He can get viewers by being funny and with good skills and commentary. A real professional progamer. Destiny needs to learn a few things from stephano about managing the public.
Really? yesterday stephano called hasuobs a nazi and asked him how many jews he killed last night. Why aren't there threads up already? That was totally racist and shit.

Surely a rape simulation site is degrading to women, wouldn't you say? What do you think other sponsors would think about having their name alongside brazzers? Wouldn't esports be impure with brazzers involved?
Why didn't you email razor immediately when Quantic signed destiny? What changed with the public thread that convinced you you need to now email razer immediately? Answer: you were jumping on the bandwagon of drama and mob mentality. You and the others like you jump straight to the logical fallacy of painting this as a false dichotomy, where the only options are emailing the sponsors or accepting that racism is a part of esports. Why couldn't you email Quantic or post on quantic's website? Get off your high horse and admit that your actions were nothing but destructive.

Esports community is global so stop treating it with your own standards. The fact that in your countries political correctness is so fuckin hilarious doesn't really apply to everyone. Who the fuck gives you the right to speak for the community? SC2 community is not located in the US or UK. "I emailed sponsors, I fight racism", no idiot, you don't. You ruin everything esports community is building. How mailing sponsors about stuff like this is fighting racism? Were you the one that got directly abused? Guess not. So it is not your fuckin bussiness. I hope that if you see someone in the street that calles other guy a nigger, you instantly mail his employer about this, just in case. And if a football player calls other player a nigger you instantly mail team's sponsors about this fact. Why do I think this all political correctness is a joke? Plenty of LoL and SC2 players call other people on streams retards, idiots and all kinds of different, offensive names. And it is fine, no one cares. But try calling someone a nigger and a shitstorm rises. Pathetic.
Isn't your argument a little ironic? The people disagreeing with Destiny's choice of words are most likely the ones considering the global community first, you know.. like communities which happens to have a lot of "Asians". Out of interest, do you think the Korean/Chinese/etc SC2 community's opinion of TeamLiquid and foreign SC2 in general would be viewed more or less positively if they heard Destiny had been dropped for saying those things?
|
Well, I'm sad to say, but I think this is for the better.
For me Destiny never stood for anything good, and running a stream where the biggest reason you're getting viewers is cause you're being a dick? Not a surprise that didn't/wouldn't end well ...
GL to Quantic. I hope Destiny finds a stable line of work, cause he won't be able to live off streaming for a long time, I think.
