On the other hand it is starting to hurt everyone else, first Orb drama, now this, it's just a matter of time until next one comes up. This shit needs to stop, if not from stupid whiny drama looking kids than from teams and sponsors.
The internet is the internet, you have to notice that the professionalism you're reffering to, is non-existant and non-achievable on the internet. Do you realize that most of players said some stupid shit at least one time? Do you really want to commit to something ridiculous like this? Punishing everyone of them for it, in this day and age, when on the internet I see 95% of people acting worse than that? Who the fu** is throwing the first stone?
It's impossible to get offended by stuff like this in 2012 when in every game I play I see only one angrier person than another, BMing eachother. Everyone who has been on the internet for 15 minutes and owns a brain knows that.
What I see happening seems to me like next level BM of one more angrier guy. And I bet that right now, the next drama troll, is sitting in his cave already, watching replays, and looking for the next target.
Someone has to find a way to fight this, because frankly it will eventually became like this: 1st guy will message sponsor that he won't buy his stuff, because he said "fag" on stream. Team will fire him or whatever, and then the 2nd guy will be like: Hey I liked this player, you're not supporting him anymore? Well then fu and your product.
Do you really want this vicious circle to destroy every person who said stupid shit? Think about that. Because eventually there won't be anyone left.

99.9 percent of the population wouldn't say any of these comments in a public place because it is common sense. It's the same mindset with ppl on social media where they post pictures of themselves smoking bongs or robbing a house. The internet is watching you and unless your 13, they know its wrong and immature to use that type of language in a professional setting. Yes, streaming for money is a professional setting.

Dude, wtf. 99.9%? Internet is flooded with stupid pictures, stupid videos, fails/mistakes of politicians, stars, journalists, public figures etc.
+ Casting MLG or whatever would be a professional setting. Streaming? Not rly.

I meant in real life, not behind the anonymity of the internet. When you stream you are publicly showing your games with your name represented. When you are streaming you are representing your sponsors and team... You must act professional or you will not get support. Like so.

Yes. Free speech should only be for the stuff everyone likes and agrees with.

Nobody's saying he's not free to say racist things. Just like people are free to say to his team and sponsors that they think he's racist and ask them to drop him.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean there are no repercussions, just that you're allowed to speak. You still have to deal with whatever the repercussions of what you actually choose to say are. Just don't be surprised when you insult people based on their race if they get offended and exercise their freedom of speech by, quite correctly, calling you a racist scumbag.

Hey, great job internet pitchforking assholes. Destiny was looking pretty good in teamleagues.

You just reduced Quantic's fanbase, grats.

I hope Destiny starts a new team, without PC requirements.

Him leaving was perhaps too drastic, but still better than staying and nothing happening. A simple reprimand and him not being big mouthed would have sufficed. Some people here saying him being fired is bad for esports, tell me: a newcomer gets here, he watches a random stream that happens to be Destiny's. Since it has a lot of people it must be good and what the community of this game likes. Now he sees how he behaves. What might he think? If this community supports a player that is xenophobic, angry, and badly educated the viewers either are having fun at the character or probably aren't that different. Either way, see ya.

Esports is better without people that behave like this. If we allow someone to misbehave like this, there's no reason not to allow everyone else.

And about all the comparisons to other sports. I wonder how much you really watch any sport, because at least in my country, we don't see this kind of stupidy in television. Were destiny a football player, i would laugh if he would tried to appear as if he was right after insulting someone. If someone on the field insults someone else, and that happens to be caught on tv, i assure you it's not good for the player. If the referree is insulted, instant yellow card. If you insult someone here on TL, you get warned / banned. What's the logic behind that, that suddenly stops being valid in twitch.tv or battle.net ?

Football players insult each other all the time nonstop, you are being naive. It's a common tactic to bait cards when the insulted player goes harder than he should trying to get the ball.

And really? Do you really care about what people say on effin battle.net? TL is a place with standards and that's why we're all here, but battle.net is a gaming hub. All kinds of people saying whatever the hell they want, it's hasn't been that pretty since ever.

Destiny should join Sheths Mannerbear-camp with the supervision of Whitera. If that's not gonna produce manner, then nothing ever will.

he still has a losing record overall in tourney settings. I am sure another team will try to pick up him up for entertainment value... not for winning tournies.

It was BM on the ladder. By definition, it is ladder BM. Trying to make it more than it is doesn't do anything but inflame the situation, though we're long past that point.

Well done, guys. Someone said "nigger" on the Internet, so you spammed his sponsors and destroyed his already probably tight financial situation. Very mature of you. If any of you think that what you did is "good for ESPORTS" or something, guess what? Damaging the scene by warding off sponsors? Not good for ESPORTS. Grow the fuck up and stop ruining people's lives for saying mean things on the internet.

Quantic had to know what they were getting into with destiny. It sucks that they had to let him go, Quantic is actually one of the better teams out there. I am interested to see how long destiny keeps his stream clean. I bet he loses viewers because so many people just watch to see him rage and talk trash to people.

Actually nice of you to bring this up.

Because yeah, just about every other pro player out there thinking it's all cool to throw around racial slurs on the ladder.

So if you know any other pro players going "gook" or other racial slurs out there just post the screenshots here and let the community decide and tell the sponsors (and Blizzard for that matter) if they find it acceptable.

thanks for asking.

God, this is such a toxic attitude.

Yeah, let's have a very vocal minority on one forum or two debate whether someone should be fired or not.

What anonymity of the internet? Journalist or politician on national TV is anonymous? Is anyone submitting his photo with his face on it on facebook/other site with his name in profile anonymous? What are you talking about?

+ Destiny didn't suddenly become person he is. He's been like this for years, that's the reason he got popular and you won't tell me that quantic or anyone involved with him didn't know that.
