I'm sure he'll find a place in that.
But no worries, I can admire a guy who can stick to his guns and not change himself JUST for sponsors.

Even though wishing death on someone is much worse than plainly insulting them You love that Destiny is staying true to being a hate mongering bigot? How is he a bigot? Because he isn't racist or homophobic? Oh wait, you're just taking the words at their base meaning and not looking at the context. He isn't saying "I FUCKING HATE ALL ASIAN/BLACK/GAY PEOPLE". He is saying "HOLY SHIT YOU DUMB CHEESY BASTARD" Have you never considered why we use certain words as insults? Why do you insult a person by calling them a piece of shit? It's because shit is an extremely undesirable thing for a person to be compared to, hence it being insulting. This is true of every insult, you are calling someone something negative and undesirable or at least something that was considered to be negative and undesirable at the time the word was popularized, that's what makes them insults. It's like when you call someone a faggot. Whatever you choose to believe the fact is that in modern usage the word faggot is a derogatory term for a homosexual. When you try to insult someone and your word of choice to do so is "faggot", the implication there is that homosexuality is a negative and undesirable attribute. That's looking at context. If he congratulated a friend by saying "Great job gook!" then talking about context would be a defense. But he didn't, he insulted a guy on ladder by calling him a gook. I'm looking at the context, and that is an absolutely disgusting thing to say. If there is nothing wrong with being asian then why are you trying to insult someone by using a word that is a derogatory term for asian people? It's not insulting then. Wouldn't finding it offensive mean that you agree that it's a negative attribute? How can it be offensive if being asian isn't considered bad? People use slurs not because they're racist, but because they get a reaction. A reaction from people like you. As soon as people stop being offended and making a big deal out of it then the word becomes powerless. Where did I say I was offended?

What I have a problem with is the method which some elements of the community are using to see what they perceive as 'justice' carried out. The way I see it is this: if Destiny and the targeted player worked in an office building, and they had a disagreement over a project proposal, and Destiny said the things he did, what would happen? The victimized party would go to the supervisor or whatever 'boss' they had, and would say: "This other employee by the name of Destiny said this, this and this. I'd like to lodge a complaint." And then the paperwork would get filled out and there would be some sort of action on the part of the management. What the other person would NOT do is run out the door of the office building, screaming for a news reporter so that they could tell the world what had happened. Nowadays, people believe that they have the right to know everything, which I vehemently disagree with. You know what WOULD have been appropriate? Taking the screenshot of the language and IDEALLY finding another few to include as evidence of consistency, and e-mailing them to Quantic, saying: "Here is what an EMPLOYEE of yours is doing under your banner." Nothing more. Let them know. Quantic would then take a look at it, and hopefully decide on some sort of punishment (which I don't doubt they would do from a business standpoint because of all the fallout we're seeing right now). E-mailing sponsors of teams is a terrible idea. By doing so, you're completely invalidating the very existence of teams. Teams are there to give players a support system and improve the professional relationships of the e-sports community. By circumventing them, you're effectively saying that they're not worth your time. I don't care if you THINK teams won't act fast enough; give them the chance to do their job. Stop e-mailing sponsor companies directly. If you have a complaint, take it to a team and request that they let the public know what direction they will be taking. But it is not YOUR JOB to make sure people get fired. You have no idea about the business and logistics of it; give them the time to do it right.

I really don't get this whole YOU ARE KILLING ESPORTS thing by denouncing destiny's actions..You know what is really a shame? that this guy who is really not a professional level player gets far more support than truely skilled starcraft players who don't act out in harmful ways. Want to stop getting destroyed by Europe and Korea, want to have a "scene" that actual promotes growth and starts turning out good players? Perhaps we should support skill in game rather than Rush Limbaugh type personalities that make us feel better about ourselves for saying and thinking mean things about people. I can see immature kids thinking he is cool and funny, but honestly for someone older I find it completely immature and pointless. The NA scene is incredibly arrogant for its standing in the world. The community and the professional players should be doing everything we can to emulate a korean model, because you know, they have been doing quite well for so many years, and even managed to get a TV station dedicated to esports. Have you ever seen this crap go down in Korea? I'm not saying we have to behave exactly like they do, because there are cultural differences. But we have a LOT to learn on so many fronts from them. Instead of making excuses and trying to prove we know a better way, we should be looking to them. This trivial shit should be just that. Was it appropriate for the actions against destiny to be taken? ABSOLUTELY. Should he even be in the position that he is in based on his skills as a player? I think we know the answer to that. As for this incident hurting him, I feel bad if he loses a ton of income off this, but ultimately that lies with him being entertaining and informative to viewers. If he does not provide those services to his audiences liking, he needs to change or find a new career. This was the best course of action, and I really think its silly to start boiling with anger at people who made this happen.

So if you know any other pro players going "gook" or other racial slurs out there just post the screenshots here and let the community decide and tell the sponsors (and Blizzard for that matter) if they find it acceptable. thanks for asking.

Just because you're gay, doesn't make you a faggot. Faggot very much is a general insult now. It's been pretty much warped down by now. You yet again fail to grasp the point here. If Destiny wasn't trying to be racist, why did he choose a racially charged slur over a non racially charged insult? Do I think Destiny is an actual racist based on his using racist slurs on his stream? No. Because he thought the word sounded good/fit the moment and may get a rise out of the other person a little more than faggot, retard, cheeser, idiot, butthole, or shit.
