If you are offended by Destiny, don't support him. There's no point in trying to make a civilian arrest on the guy. As a community, our job is to bring these issues to light, not to fix them. Quantic will fix them if deemed necessary just like EG did with Orb.
Again, to be explicitly clear, do not support him if you find him offensive. There isn't really a case that the community is enabling this behavior because when it becomes too much, sponsors and team will react. No EG didn't find it nessercary to fix it Reddit and every self rightous person forced their hand by emailing sponsors and so on and flooding them with complaints forcing EGs hand in 1 direction
And Reddit, such a self righteous community who can't believe someone said a mean racial slur and better go after Orb and everything around him, fucking idolise Destiny and defend what he says because "He's not racist so it's ok!".
The fact that Destiny/others get away with this shit while people go on a witchhunt for people who aren't the apple of their eyes' is disgraceful. Either the community holds everyone to similar standards, or the community abandons standards.
Personally I don't care what Destiny or anyone else says on stream. But if the whole Orb situation was really so horrific that the entirety of Reddit needed to go on a crusade to get him kicked out of esports, then they can't act like the way Destiny acts is A-OK.

I don't know if anyone else posted this video earlier in this thread (so many posts so fast), but extra-credits pretty much nailed it down in their last week episode.
http://extra-credits.net/episodes/harassment/
I will apply what they have thought me last week. It should be far more effective (and less harming) than sending e-mails to sponsors and the sort.

Words are offensive because people use them in a degrading manner. I guess he's talking about how we need to stop considering these words degrading and consider them as any other word. I'm caucasian and I've never experienced anyone using racist remarks at me, I'm a fairly normal straight person, so I don't know how it feels to be on the receiving end of it, but I still think that a step towards equality would be to stop considering these words to be any worse than calling someone a "fucking dickwad" or something like that.
Acknowledging racist slurs as just that isn't necessarily helping the society move towards equality. At least that's what I guess he's trying to say. I see some truth to it, words like "gook" and "nigger" are considered bad and mean because we acknowledge the fact that they're being used in a degrading manner towards someone due to the color of their skin. If you start considering it as just another word to describe someone's skin color or nationality and not as a degrading word, that could solve the entire issue.

This isn't the place for discussing it really, but it's because a comment like that doesn't contribute anything and actually makes the thread worse. Trying to qualify it by pointing fingers and saying 'But he did it, too!' doesn't make it any better.

this happens in every single game I allin. Should you have a reaction bigger then "meh" ? I don't see posts about how the community has been weakened by the fact that most people who get allin use offensive language, from a pc point of view, which I am against of anyways. People get banned by saying obvious things...sadly, obvious things are looked down nowadays. If some1 fails and you say : Hey Timmy YOU SUCK, you are a bad person. However if you say Timmy its ok you will do better....I'd go with the first one having the better outcome. Developing tolerance towards weakness and lack of motivation to better yourself is a bad thing.

Yea, this is all pointless. I don't have a problem with destiny. I think he adds nothing to the SC2 community and brings nothing of value to Esports overall, but there are a lot of players that I think fall into this category.
Having said that, humans are humans, people are people. We have all known destiny is a douche, but it is that reason he gets so many viewers. He is the Paris hilton/Kardasians of SC2. Why do people watch these figures? Because people like to be entertained. Even I have to admit that on occassions, Destiny's stream is hilarious. I haven't watched it in a while because I feel it degrades the mind, but the crap in the past between him and deezer was pretty funny.
Should Destiny be listed on TL? No. Should Destiny be on a Team? No. Should Destiny stream? Sure. Is calling out Destiny's issues going to change anything now? No.
In fact, this post is probably only making him more popular. At this point, you could take him off TL, kick him from quantic gaming and try and shun him from the SC2 community and he would just get more viewers. If you wanted to do something, should have done it at the start. The cat is out of the bag here people, so suck it up and move along.

To be honest I really like Destiny's stream. It is the only stream I watch outside of Idra because I like zergs and because I like entertaining public figures. I don't think this issue will change that.

1)It's not okay for him to be a racist. He should be warned and should learn to control himself. 2)hilarious how many ppl are supporting him, considering how many people crucified orb.

TO DESTINY I have a question for you regarding your most recent racial slur... I asked you the same question during your rants about the n-word and you never answered.
when you said it (g**k), what did it mean to you ?
Why did you use that word in apparent anger?
Was there no other way to express your emotions at the time ?
Was the word used to entertain your viewers or to insult your opponent ? - if yes, why would you think that word would be entertaining to your viewers, or insulting to your opponent ??
try to answer these questions without sounding like a bigot..
Eh, was the word that came to my mind at the time. Good enough reason for me to use it.
And so why do you think that particular word came to your mind in that situation ? Please tell us that there is some thought behind the words you say.
Honestly dude you have a good thing going with a great community, how can you be so stubborn ?

But it's not a double standard, because Destiny hasn't called anyone a gook on the TL forums. He said it on his stream, which happens to have a link to it on the side bar on this website. If anything, it's up to twitch.tv to make a decision on what a player does on their streams. Team Liquid is in no way responsible for what happens on Destiny's stream, and any moderation that happened as a result of what a person did outside of Team Liquid would be ridiculous.

Orb has been a personality in our community since Beta Destiny on the other hand, has been a nuissance and its almost disrespectful to us.
Since they did a witchhunt on Orb, for 1 little thing. I think Destiny deserves a witchhunt for his whole career....
I won't stop till something is done about this kid, finally. A lot of us been fed up with this guy for a long time.

The fact that there is always ~3,000 viewers for his stream, even though he is a low/mid-tier pro at best, is a testament to the fact that some people actually like his crude brand of humor. Let them have it. This exactly. I always thought it was funny how some of these streamers that are top tier players get less then 1k viewers. Look at Axslav for example. He isn't top tier just yet, but he's getting there. He explains exactly why he is doing things, why he lost and what exactly he is scouting/looking for and how exactly he plans on countering it. He is probably one of the more influential players out there for Protoss players. But now how many viewers does he get? I don't think I've ever seen him get over 1k viewers. Which is a shame since he is one of the better streamers out there.
Its called entertainment. Not everyone watches streams to learn or just get a better understanding. Some people watch for the fun and general hilarity of it. Skill isn't what its all about and it doesn't have to be all about the game.

I think Destiny's behavior should not be tolerated, but maybe it's a bit over the line to complain to sponsors? it's kind of hard for the team to get deals already, maybe just email the team with a threat to complain to sponsors if this issues is not looked into?

I have no issue with bringing social justice issues to the table; what I'm annoyed about is people trying to pretend they actually care about social justice when all they want to do is create more drama and subject yet another community figure to a witchhunt. I highly doubt more than 10% of the people complaining in this thread about Destiny's language actually do anything outside of lambasting people on the internet to promote social justice when confronted with problems in the real world.
If you're gonna try to get Destiny fired, sure, go right ahead, but don't delude yourself into thinking you're making a "big change," especially considering the usual gaming population. Until your concern for these issues steps outside of "I'm going to make a post on the internet about it and then email the sponsors, let me feel good about myself for stamping out the use of racist slurs on a stream watched by a miniscule portion of the population, many of whom use it themselves and/or have encountered it before and have no issues with hearing it or using it in every day life and who couldn't care less if Destiny loses his team so long as he continues to stream," then ... well, I hope you see where I'm going here. What will emailing the sponsors do? Well, in one scenario, a major SC2 team loses its sponsorship and ... people still continue to use whatever words they want. In another, Destiny gets kicked and people still continue to use whatever words they want. Yet in another, nothing happens and people still continue to use whatever words they want.
