That said, you people need a hobby. Destiny said some racist things on his stream. Destiny may or may not actually be racist. Are you forced to watch his stream when you come to TL? (No) How does this affect people who don't watch his stream? (It doesn't) If you have followed this community at all, you already knew that Destiny can be BM when he wants to be, and uses words like "nigger" and "gook." But all it took was a screenshot of it to send the community into an uproar? I'm starting to think that NonY was right when he said we appreciate the drama more than we appreciate the game. The fact that there is always ~3,000 viewers for his stream, even though he is a low/mid-tier pro at best, is a testament to the fact that some people actually like his crude brand of humor. Let them have it. Great post, I agree. Too bad nobody will read it. These kinds of threads are more about expressing ones own opinion rather than an actual discussion. No, these threads are about witchhunts. NonY was exactly right, people love drama more than the game, and having a withchunt is the BEST kind of drama you can start up. Its the same mob mentality that has wrecked people for thousands of years.

When he was exclusively streaming and his team affiliation was ROOT (honestly more of a clan), there isn't an issue. It's his personal stream and he can do what he pleases. Now he's a member of a team attached to sponsorships there are going to be issues. If you are offended by Destiny, don't support him. There's no point in trying to make a civilian arrest on the guy. As a community, our job is to bring these issues to light, not to fix them. Quantic will fix them if deemed necessary just like EG did with Orb. Again, to be explicitly clear, do not support him if you find him offensive. There isn't really a case that the community is enabling this behavior because when it becomes too much, sponsors and team will react. No EG didn't find it nessercary to fix it Reddit and every self rightous person forced their hand by emailing sponsors and so on and flooding them with complaints forcing EGs hand in 1 direction

And to preempt the argument that this is what destiny does, you don't know what you are talking about. Destiny does nothing to harm others unless they are so soft skinned (which anyone who grew up gaming online should be) that his words somehow harm them. You people are killing esports not Destiny, the community will adapt over time and eventually Players with destiny's rhetoric may die out but not if you kill the entire establishment before it reaches that point. Grow up and get off your self righteous high horse before you destroy this thing we all love If Destiny and people like you are the "Real" faces of e-sport, then I hope it dies in a bonfire. Yeah, you can go make those jokes in your circle of friends and have a good laugh, but people get hurt by them. Destiny is, weather you like it or not, a pillar of the community. He isn't the best player, but he definitely draws in viewers, which is something eSports needs as a whole to grow. What if djwheat started calling DRG a g**k on the center stage of MLG? That would tarnish the image of esports as a whole and we would lose credibility. What if inControl called MaximusBlack a N*****er, or idra called Scarlett a T******y? It would be over the line (literally and figuratively). Some people could care less. But I'm not one of those. I emailed Evil Geniuses, Razer, Monster Energy Drink, Intel, Steelseries, Kingston Hyper X, Beyond Gaming.com, Sapphire, 6pool gaming, In Win, GFunnar, Slappa, and Split Reason and told them about the Orb Incident and how they had to took responsibility in order to fix this situation, and help esports grow by not having a racist, facist, bigot in our midst. I will do the same with destiny as I did with Orb. DjWheat said on LiveOnThree that it's the customers that eSports is about. Without the consumer, eSports wouldn't exist. We wouldn't see MarineKingPrime win the GSTL if it wasn't for us consumers sponsoring and supporting GOM.TV. Why should we let a person (doesn't matter who it is) tarnish the title of eSports just because they want to be a bigot? I say I do not. When you mentioned what DJWheat was talking about on LO3, I would imagine he's talking about your a consumer, so if you aren't happy with something, don't buy or support it. I don't know for sure what he meant though, so I think I should highlight that. What you are doing however, is actively trying to destroy something you have no interest in, because you don't like it. If I didn't like gays, I wouldn't go and force people into having the same opinion or try and enforce rules on them, because that is fucking ridiculous. If you don't like something, grow fucking up, and take a step back. If it effects you, it is reasonable to take action. But considering there is a decent probability you have never watched Destiny for any length of time, complaining to his team and sponsors is absolutely fucking crazy. You are complaining to have something changed, that you don't even fucking care about.

We don't need an Orb 2.0 here. double standards at its best! Except EG (read as: Alex Garfield) apparently wasn't aware of orb's prior offenses. Quantic is aware of Destiny's stream. EG supposedly never would have signed orb if they had known orb's personality. Quantic feels it's acceptable to hire Destiny, even given his *colorful* personality. I'm not saying that Quantic is necessarily less professional than EG (hell, IdrA is on EG, right?); I'm just saying that different things are being considered for individuals when they're added to a team's roster. When a team adds Person A, they assume they're going to get X, Y, and Z. If they get something negative that they didn't expect, that could be a dealbreaker. Quantic surely expected negative backlash at some point from Destiny's stream, especially after the orb scandal. EG probably didn't expect such things from orb in the first place, especially since he was just being added as a caster. So perhaps it's a double standard when talking about ignoring or acknowledging racism, but it's still important to distinguish the difference between expecting negative attention from one of your players (and being okay with it in the grand scheme of things because he- overall- does more good than bad for your team), and getting unexpected negative attention for your team. fair enough. however, should the team/community accept racial/ethnic slurs? i mean where do you draw the line right? The team/community shouldn't accept people too fucking idiotically stupid not to use the mature language filter or block features if their delicate sensibilities might be offended. Also, anyone who emailed the sponsors negatively is a disgrace to the community and are literally trying to kill esports, they should be banned, and anyone posting directions on how to email the sponsors should be permabanned. The logic that they're causing E-sports harm by informing the sponsors about the actions of someone under their banner is ass-backwards. One day someone with influence may decide to take it beyond the scope of these forums, and then it's done for. A journalist with an influential blog on a site like Forbes might decide to one day make an entry about one of these situations which keep cropping up, because these threads certainly are popular. Would we go and post in the comments asking him to take it down because it might hurt the scene, perhaps? No, that would be retarded. Keeping it quiet and sweeping it under the rug to "protect E-sports" is not an option. Prevention is the only sensible option. This is a warning to not take an insular view on this type of situation - I've seen posts in places not connected to SC2 who will email sponsors at the drop of a hat and have done in the past. The argument that it's just the internets will not wash with the general public, they'll see what's going on here and kill your credibility before giving you the time of day. You'll be tarred with the same brush which was used on the fighting game community recently. You should be pointing your fingers at Destiny and other high profile players for constantly giving them reasons to do it. Destiny doesn't say it, people have no reason to send mail. You should also point fingers at the teams choosing these types of players on purpose - I would be far more suprised to see a member of Team Liquid taking part in these sort of antics that I would members of other teams because I know TL use their discretion. Amazing, amazing post. I don't understand why people always feel the need to ignore bad things that happen. They need to be addressed and responded to accordingly. Simply ignoring this because "IT'S DESTINY GUYS XDDDDD" is stupid. If Quantic doesn't want to do anything, which is extremely clear considering they picked him up for his abrasive personaility and since they have done nothing in the past to correct his behavior, then going to the sponsors is a must. Sick account that was created to post in this thread bro. I like how your name is parkjimo, why is that? Want to make a name that sounds asian so you have more of a right to be offended? Sports has lots of BM, but if someone goes around calling Lin a "c***k" you're going to hear about it. Team Liquid vouches for the streamer by featuring a streamer, or showing the streamer in a list. There is no denying that the remarks Destiny made are discriminatory. I think Team Liquid should penalize the stream by not showing it for a certain amount of time based on the offense. For example, not showing it for a week, month, etc. directly hurts the streamer. It does not directly hurt the team, or esports. So, in short: 1) Close threads like these immediately. 2) Evidence of discriminating behavior should be sent to Team Liquid and the team. 3) Team Liquid should place a serious penalty on the streamer by removing the stream from team liquid for a certain amount of time.
