Because destiny has been transparent about this in the past, he has justified why he say's these things and then let the community decide. He then became arguably the most succesful Sc2 streamer. The community loves him because he isnt a mindless PC zombie, the love him because he speaks his mind, for better or for worse.

They ban CombatEX because CombatEX is, or was, a cheating scumbag. He was a streamcheater and maphacker, not because he was BMing people on the fucking ladder, which does absolutely fucking nothing that to "hurt Esports."

I got an email last night from Blizzard about my manners on bnet. Apparently shouting:
+ Show Spoiler +
Is extremely offensive. Sorry whoever I offended with my gibberish.
I wonder if Destiny ever gets emails like that?

Judging by the one post and the poster's name, I think it may have been a mod edit of a really stupid post.

If the implication is that it takes a 12 year old (or typical 12 year old characteristics) to be upset with this language, I think that is false as well. The idea is that any human capable of rational thought over the age of 12 will not become upset at something someone else says. "12 year old" simply means sheltered and / or irrational person, befitting of people who have not lived in this world very long. Think of it as a concession I'm making. Rather than assuming that you people are all autistic, I just assume your childish behavior comes from actually being a child. That's pretty nice of me to do. Show nested quote +Second, I do not think that people who want to publicly decry the use of this language need to have an opinion on whether Destiny "gives a fuck about them". Whether or not he even notices the thread, the thread could still have a good effect. The point of the thread (as evidenced by the OP), has nothing to do with language. OP preemptively GGed, he's pretty obviously a douchebag. He made this thread to +1 his e-cock because he made Destiny mad, kind of like people posting IdrA rage screens. On the topic of actual censorship and restriction of free speech, as explained above, pretty much anyone who isn't suffering from Aspergers, and is over the age of 12 isn't going to care about something a video game player types in a ladder match.
I still disagree, and I think your attempts to suggest that because I am upset I have to be either somewhere on the Autism spectrum or a 12 year old are tasteless, unfunny, and annoying.
You suggest that "any human capable of rational thought" will not care about what others say. This is clearly false. There are plenty of people in the world that want to stand up against the negative things that people say, especially public figures. If a public figure uses racist language, and someone thinks that public use of racist language is a bad thing, it makes sense for someone to speak up. This is behavior that is justifiable for anyone, regardless of age or autism.

While I don't agree with the witch hunt, nor with contacting the sponsors before Quantic can have its say about the situation, Starcraft 2 --- and its professional scene --- isn't "just a game". Not with the amount of money involved in the scene, plus the other players, teams and the community as a whole.

Destiny is free to say what he believe, as are all those against him for whatever reason. However if these people actually get razor to force quantic to remove him from their team, or even razor might leave the "e-sports" scene altogether. then Destiny is being punished. and perhaps the whole community get's punished for someone expressing their freedom, and surely that is wrong.
That is the only argument i came to offer, and i firmly believe that you and i are both right in what we have said.
There's rather a HUGE difference in someone having hurt feelings and 10's of thousands of dollars being taken away from those who work hard to earn it. Including Destiny. In fact, one could argue (as incontrol, amongst others, are arguing) that this "movement" will actually do far more to harm others than help. Surely we can all agree on that.
I can agree with that, but I think that it shows that it might just be time for Destiny put aside his concern for expressing himself without regard on a public medium. It might also be time for people who are going to be negatively affected, such as TL, Quantic, and any other starcraft-sponsored organizations, to step in and either discreetly talk to Destiny or public denounce his actions. Racism and hatred is just too hugely part of our world in order to ignore it and cite it as just personal expression. If you are trying to be professional, and trying to be viable financially, you are going to have to follow the social customs of the world. I agree hugely with the underlying message that Destiny has been posting with, that too many people are hurt by too many artificial things, but he has to realize that many people were raised in different circumstances that make his words more harmful than he could realize, and the intentional use of hurtful words in a humorous manner is even more insulting and disrespectful than he intended it to be. If you attemp to shape the world for those people you are talking about, so if you commit to their demands, they feel their opinion is been taken seriously and therefore their demands also.

If you're bad you're gonna be called out for it. Losing to Terran allin as Zerg is quite possibly the most frustrating experience in this game, or maybe in any game at all. What you did was bad play and you totally should have expected it.
Also, you don't need to argue that it was a 'legitimate' strategy because obviously it is. But look what happened to TSLRain some time ago when he cheesed Nestea repeatedly in GSL. Did he get sh!t from everyone ? Yes. And it stuck with him for almost a year too.
I'm Asian and I never get offended by racist remarks on ladder. Just think of it as a typical offensive comment cuz it clearly doesnt mean to be racist at all.
Thanks for admitting that. I'm making a list of people who are cool with it because they have no self-respect. I think I'm getting a taste for it. Trying to step into Destiny's shoes here....
Oh, and up yours, gook/chink/shamalamadingdong!!

That's because TL uses judgement to determine who gets banned and who doesn't. Its a private site. They can do whatever they want. And it looks like Destiny isn't going anywhere just because he said "gook" on ladder.

Then find one, otherwise your post proves absolutely nothing. It's hearsay until you give me some evidence.

Those of us who are reasonable and assessing this issue intelligently, and see that it's destructive to email the sponsors to complain, should send emails in support of Quantic to their sponsors. Just explain that you appreciate all Quantic has done for the scene including supporting players like Naniwa who is training hard in Korea and whose success in the GSL undeniably increases foreigner interest in the tournament and in Quantic Gaming.

For the record I don't like Destiny. At all. I've watched his stream before (a long time ago) when his play was a little more inspired, but I would almost always choose another streamer over him if given the variety.
That said, you people need a hobby. Destiny said some racist things on his stream. Destiny may or may not actually be racist. Are you forced to watch his stream when you come to TL? (No) How does this affect people who don't watch his stream? (It doesn't) If you have followed this community at all, you already knew that Destiny can be BM when he wants to be, and uses words like "nigger" and "gook." But all it took was a screenshot of it to send the community into an uproar?
I'm starting to think that NonY was right when he said we appreciate the drama more than we appreciate the game. The fact that there is always ~3,000 viewers for his stream, even though he is a low/mid-tier pro at best, is a testament to the fact that some people actually like his crude brand of humor. Let them have it.

This community is actually pretty sad, I thought it was fairly reasonable and thought the orb "controversy" was a product of the reddit hate train. I was obviously wrong along with a good deal of other people and it's disgusting. So many white knight keyboard warriors in here trying to gain some degree of acceptance in the world by tearin down those around them to build themselves up. And to preempt the argument that this is what destiny does, you don't know what you are talking about. Destiny does nothing to harm others unless they are so soft skinned (which anyone who grew up gaming online should be) that his words somehow harm them. You people are killing esports not Destiny, the community will adapt over time and eventually Players with destiny's rhetoric may die out but not if you kill the entire establishment before it reaches that point. Grow up and get off your self righteous high horse before you destroy this thing we all love
