Most intelligent people can inference that Destiny is not racist based on the circumstances of the screenshot and his take on language usage. Using racist terms usually doesn't even mean you're a racist by the internet's standard. I feel really sorry for you if you were offended by being called a 'gook' because you cheesed him out of a video game, the real world must be really rough for you.

It's disgusting that people think it's okay to try to force others to act a certain way. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
If Destiny's words hurt you, don't watch his stream. He is a person playing a fucking video game. I hope he continues offending you people, because I want you to continue to be upset. You deserve not to feel good, and I'm glad Destiny exists to cause you this pain.
I laughed. Your statement would probably be more accurate if you replaced the word act with speaks. Example: "He should be able to murder people, how dare someone try to stop him!" Of course people are expected to act a certain way. Language is a different issue entirely. There are certain places where you don't use certain language (school, church, work, etc). Someone might be able to loosely argue that Destiny was at his 'work place', but you'd be grasping at straws for the most part.

There are a number of fine folks who have tirelessly watched the stream of Destiny and subjected themselves to his torturous thesaurus of racism and hate to gather screenshots and bring down the beast that is he.
Oh wait what's that? The people who have gathered the evidence aren't White Knights, but people looking to take revenge because they don't like him or because he insulted them?
You don't say.
Like with the Orb situation, this isn't to anyone in the community who didn't just join. Orb could act like an asshole when he streamed and people could see that if they tuned in at the right time. Instead of addressing it as soon as they saw it or outright shunning him, some more fine folks decided to gather screenshots over an EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME so they could bring the untainted anti-racism axe down upon orb's job. And with the evidence neatly presented people decided to start a witch hunt beating the drums of collateral damage so the sponsors, the teams, and the community could all benefit from the the undoing of the crucified evil-doer.
Is that how it went?
Nope, instead you had EG management dust off their earmuffs and blindfolds for a demonstration on how they had no idea orb would ever do or say anything like that. AND BY GOLLY, no other member of EG would ever say something like nigga or faggot. And the offended members of community...... Ah yes the offended members of the community. I never knew there were so many people who could quantify just how offensive certain words like nigger were, especially when put up against nigga, faggot, jew, and a slew of others. It must have been from their personal experiences with discrimination.
Sorry I really got off track for a moment there. I just thought I would give a history lesson when we defeated racist language in game streams way back on March 9, 2012.. Wait wait wait.... We had a week worth of threads to deal with only one evil racist nicknamed orb! I can't figure out why this wasn't addressed then....
Oh wait, I remember! I just said it earlier in this post!
-"The people who have gathered the evidence aren't White Knights, but people looking to take revenge because they don't like him or because he insulted them."
Now you're gettin' it! By george I think you're gettin' it!
You see the majority of the community who knows Destiny knows he can act like an asshole, calling people a combination of offensive words. But they do what about it for over a year? Was gook a step too far? Was the asian community finally pushed over the edge by this hatemonger! Nope nope nope. Some fine folks are beating the drum and a great number of people are all willing to grab a pitchfork.
If you were all so offended, you would have nipped in in the bud day one. But hey maybe you were just busy taking out all those other racists/assholes online.
It's really funny how fickle the torchbearers are. So for our last exercise I want you to think to yourself what words you use, the words you hear and accept and the double-standards you have. Then I hope you ponder how much of a scumbag you are. Let it sink in.

I guess it expands your vocabulary? Whether that is positive is another manner.
Yes, educational. Have you watched him explain how to scout the gas timings of a protoss with overlords and how to interpret them to understand which builds the protoss might be going for? Have you heard him explain which aspects of your gameplay to focus on improving at different levels in order to be the most well-rounded player you can be? I play protoss, but watching his stream and learning his approach to ZvP (which it LOOKS like is his strongest matchup from IPL TAC matches, etc, if I'm not mistaken) has drastically improved my PvZ.

That's my concern too. People are treated equally here, and there are some who are just more equal. But the rules are set when you registered here, so there's nothing to do.

Very unprofessional in my own honest opinion. To some people, saying racial slurs is seen as funny. Yeah, you can go make those jokes in your circle of friends and have a good laugh, but people get hurt by them.
Destiny is, weather you like it or not, a pillar of the community. He isn't the best player, but he definitely draws in viewers, which is something eSports needs as a whole to grow. What if djwheat started calling DRG a g**k on the center stage of MLG? That would tarnish the image of esports as a whole and we would lose credibility. What if inControl called MaximusBlack a N*****er, or idra called Scarlett a T******y? It would be over the line (literally and figuratively).
Some people could care less. But I'm not one of those. I emailed Evil Geniuses, Razer, Monster Energy Drink, Intel, Steelseries, Kingston Hyper X, Beyond Gaming.com, Sapphire, 6pool gaming, In Win, GFunnar, Slappa, and Split Reason and told them about the Orb Incident and how they had to took responsibility in order to fix this situation, and help esports grow by not having a racist, facist, bigot in our midst.
I will do the same with destiny as I did with Orb. DjWheat said on LiveOnThree that it's the customers that eSports is about. Without the consumer, eSports wouldn't exist. We wouldn't see MarineKingPrime win the GSTL if it wasn't for us consumers sponsoring and supporting GOM.TV. Why should we let a person (doesn't matter who it is) tarnish the title of eSports just because they want to be a bigot? I say I do not.

That would entail that ANY regulation of others' behavior, either by community norms (say, of politeness) or by legal means (say, making murder illegal) are 'disgusting.' You can actually think that. Forcing people not to kill others is disgusting. Explaining the positives and negatives of murder leads rational humans not to kill eachother. You don't need to force people to act unnaturally, as preservation of the species dictates communal survival.
There are plenty of ways that we are forced to behave. I am not 'ashamed' of myself because I want people to be forced not to kill one another. And I do not think that people should be ashamed if they want to stand up and say that they do not accept public use of racist language. Again, I didn't say you are ashamed, I said you should be ashamed. Considering you aren't ashamed, my point (that you should be) completely stands.

Because EG threw Orb under the bus and the community have realized they just screwed over a perfectly good caster with a minor, fixable flaw. Shit like this should not be repeated.

So after browsing through about 30 pages I have come to the conclusion that there are 3 arguments. 1. He should be held accountable and we should email Razer and other Esports affiliated sponsors telling them to discontinue their support of him. 2. It isnt a big deal and people overreact at Destiny being Destiny. 3. He should be held accountable BUT that doesn't include emailing sponsors and jepardizing his career and hurting Esports as a whole.
I believe argument #3 is our best approach for a couple reasons: 1. Emailing sponsors would reduce the confidence spnsors have in Esports as a whole. 2. It would be better to contact Quantic via friendly email explaining your discomfort in his language. 3. Starting a witch hunt like we did with Orb would be another bad situation. It looks like it is too late
Also after reading the well informed arguments and the... not so well informed arguments it seems people are trying to find a discrepency between freedom of speech and prosecuting for certain language. Lets set a few things straight: 1. The first ammendment protects his rights to say whatever he wants regardless of the harm it could have. 2. Quantic is not the government, they have the ability to fire Destiny for his language; that is the cost of him saying those words
I believe the best solution to this debacle is let the SC2 community regulate itself. This stratrgy works the same in the economy. If you don't like his stream and language, dont watch. That is the best way to get rid of him. He will get less publicity thus less ad revenue thus his career will take a turn for the worse. He will HAVE to change his ways otherwise he will not be able to compete. Also starting a witch hunt will only give him more publicity thus increasing his odds for viewers to come watch thus making the problem worse.
I thoroughly don't have a problem with Destiny. I don't mind his racial slurs because I realize that he uses them as words comparable to curse words. For example I could call someone a faggot after they push me off the edge in Mario Kart. My use of the word is to insult him in a non-bigot way. Aka I am not calling him a faggot because I hate gays.
I think Penn Jillette said it best: "The question I ask myself is can we solve it with more freedom then less."

Attempting to slander a promineate player in the community for expressing emotion does in no why help this game, scene, or any players related to esports.
I send one and I hope others follow. Even if you are stupid enough to be offended by that you should rather write to quantic or destiny. It is pretty dumb to be offended by his flames in a private time ladder game. In the more professional broadcasted tourneys I could understand this thread, but this time I question the mental sanity of a lot of persons in this thread.
Thanks for that email. I understand the need to voice negative opinions to sponsors, but seriously complaining about racial slurs to a company is slightly immature. That's not to say that racial slurs are acceptable, but in the real world it isn't about making sure that every one is in line all the time, it's about dealing with things in a professional manner, and complaining to sponsors for something with as little effect as this is, it's pretty damn unprofessional of the community.

So now it became such a big deal to people?
The crowd pointing fingers also curses, uses racial slurs, trolls but they are simply not public figures so they arent as mearly as important. I guess its fine only certain people to get shit for something everyone on the internet is doing!

Indeed. Orb got killed very hard for something really minor. It's quite terrible really.
