While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.

Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned!
- Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM
- Comparing people to Hitler
- Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum.

It might seem like an overreaction, but I don't think I'll be buying any season pass, at least not for this season. I wasn't too sure about it before, but no Naniwa makes it a much easier decision.

At least he won, Naniwa is 0-10 in the GSL.

MC went from Code S to Code A to Code B. Did he not deserve his Code S seed from MLG too?

What does that have to do with the guy your quoting?

That it doesn't matter how you play your games, if you earn your Code S, you have the right to play there.

Jesus christ, stop trolling finally.. You repeat the same sentence over last 30 pages and blindly defend yourself even if it has been proved to you like 100 times. I feel ashamed we are from the same country.

LOL... I'd watch a hot chess match even if it was played on the backyard of a cabaret, and I'd expect an awesome game.

he didnt do a little cheese, he purposely threw the game. if your going to talk about the situation at least dont twist it into something it isnt. everyone who doesnt want to buy tickets because of this is stupid, the next season will be even better than the last one because we wont have to watch naniwa lose 0-2 in the first round like he usually does.

Justice is served, this is good.

Next time someone else in Code S decides to play stupid and throw a game, maybe they'll think twice about themselves playing SC2 at the highest level in the world.

Naniwa comes from being homeless just a few years ago -- he's not thankful for any of what he's earned/been given, and his attitude comes up every other day. Let this be a LESSON, not a PUNISHMENT.

A 7 Probe Rush is throwing the game. I can't believe people are still being pedants regarding this. The automaton 2000 AI bot probe rushing would still result in a loss of the game against any person in the GSL. Probe rush doesn't beat 6 pool, you either cancel the pool and make more drones or move your workers around avoiding the probes until the pool finishes and then make lings = autowin.

What a huge overreaction from GOM. These players are playing for the prize, not for the marketing. Naniwa did nothing wrong with his probe rush.

Really, how can you even call a probe-rush a cheese tactic? As a matter of fact, it's not even a tactic at all. Probe-rushing is about the same as leaving the game right after it started, it has nothing to do with cheesing. If someone does an aggressive build he still has the intention to win, while Naniwa had no such thing what so ever.

How can anyone agree with Gom not only kicking Nani out of code S, but publicly insulting him as well? Seriously what kind of play ground bullies does this community consist off?

Gom is a joke organization run by clowns who demand professionalism from players, but don't act professional themselves. It'll be a cold day in hell before I support them again.

NaNiwa is baned 2012 GSL codeS Season#1 Seed. so, GamaniaSen is coming! #GSL #SC2

Edit: Apparently it was just announced on the Korean stream, so it's now official; Naniwa is out.
Edit2: To clarify, it seems GOM has simply revoked Naniwa's Code S seed for the upcoming season, not banned him outright.
Edit3: Here's the rule being used as justification:
Warning or disqualification
- 경기중에 과격한 행동으로 상대 게이머나 관중들에게 위협을 가할 때
- During a match, a player shall not offend the opponent or audience with abusive behaviours

You cannot be fucking serious. I think they were just straight out of fucking line to revoke NaNiwa's Code S seed. He rightfully earned it through defeating NesTea, HuK and DongRaeGu and only just being utterly dismantled by Leenock to a 2nd place finish. That has to be absolutely fucking gutting to finally be the first foreigner since HuK to hit Code S and then have it taken away from you due to one mishap.

So a genuine, hardworking player went on full tilt, probe rushed his final game that had zero bearing on whether he'd make it out of the Blizzard Cup Ro10 group stage or not and GOMTV punish him by confiscating his Code S spot with zero warning, for something that wasn't even really in the rulebook, was ambiguously defined and was punished more harshly than other comparable offences committed from other players I've read about.

I made a pledge not to watch the GSL anyway because I didn't want to be forced to install their media player just to watch their stream (This is something NO OTHER SC2 LEAGUE DOES) and because I didn't want to be restricted to watching at ~9am GMT. Now, thanks to this, I definitely won't be watching the GSL or even considering a season pass purchase at all anytime in the future.

And Mr Chae calling NaNiwa a prize-money hunter live on stream? That's an utterly dick thing to call him considering all pro-gamers are arguably "prize money hunters." Why do you think Korean players actually yearn for tournament spots in the West? Because the prize money is much better. Can't you effectively paint Korean players that are well represented in foreign tournaments such as PuMa, HerO, SeleCT, MMA, DongRaeGu, Lucky, Rain etc under the same brush as hunters of prize money too?

Explain to me why Naniwas ( Swede) code S spot didn't go to another Swede in korea but went to Idra and Sen instead?

Because Naniwa wasn't invited because he's a Swede? Nationality has nothing to do with this, Naniwa got invited because of his good tournament results, specifically MLG Providence. Idra and Sen are getting invited for the same reason, good results at tournaments.

What good results? Haven't seen either Sen or Idra perform lately. Also if a Korean player drops out in a foreign tournament a new korean will be invited in pretty much all cases. This is nothing more than racism or money hunting ( which would make chae a hypocrite), take your pick

Because nationality has nothing at all to do with who gets the code s seeds? Why would a swede have more right to a seed than someone else who might deserve it more? The reason Naniwa got a seed in the first place was because of his own accomplishments, not for something his fellow countrymen did.

If you guys still say that Naniwa play was legitimate and didn't disrespect the viewers and his opponent you might as well go to Seoul stand before a random korean and spit on his face. (In reality dont even think about doing this)

Define legitimate play. He did not cheat, he just did not play to win. If you define it like that then yes, it was not legitimate play, but why should I care, I am not stupid I knew the match was meaningless so I could care less. People who like pretend maybe care, but well tough luck.

But no he did not disrespect anyone. Except maybe the stupid format and indirectly GOM, but definitely not opponent or viewers. Also disrespect kind of requires at least some semblance of intent to cause such, which is not present in this case. If I shit myself on accident I am not disrespecting anyone compared to shitting on his couch intentionally.

1. “During a match, a player shall not offend the opponent or audience with abusive behaviours “ (GOM TV rule)

How many times have we seen manner mules, manner celebrations, or other semi-BM tactics that completely override this rule? It certainly doesn't make the loser *feel good*. And no one ever gets punished for them, because it's part of the game. People need thicker skin. So you're offended. Grab a tissue. So you paid money and wanted to watch Nestea vs. Naniwa? Well tough luck, because you apparently thought...

2. Every match needs to be played out no matter what?

Since when? Over the course of BW and SC2, how many times have we seen matches get crossed off the playing list because they're irrelevant to who moves on? Too many to keep count. The Nestea vs. Naniwa game shouldn't have been played at all, because there undoubtedly would have been "Oh Player X didn't try because the game didn't count, which is why he lost the game," regardless of how epic the game was. It's hardly Naniwa's fault for not caring about a game that didn't count towards the progression of the tournament. He played to win, not to make friends. And how many times have we seen a best of seven turn into four straight boring games of one-sided roflstomps? It sucks. I would have liked Nestea and Naniwa to do better than 0-3 in their bracket, but they didn't, so they got knocked out after three games. They tried, but they didn't do well this time around.

3. Naniwa isn't Code S/ pro-gamer material.

This just astonishes me. He moved to Korea, worked his ass off in every single game that mattered, and takes his job extremely seriously. Just to reiterate for emphasis, he frickin moved to Korea for this. He's not cuddly and the best-mannered guy in the business, but he's damn focused and cares about succeeding. It's ridiculous that he arbitrarily loses his Code S spot because some people are angry at him. The rules were vague and he got screwed because people don't like him. If Huk did this, you better believe nothing would have happened to him.

1) Manner mules/nexus are not abusive.
2) Every professional sport requires a match to be played out. People always talk about 'Esports' but then refuse to act like professionals when they don't feel like it.
3) What does moving to Korea have to do with anything? Nothing.

Caution! Big money can ruin a game. SC2 is always a game, and that specific match was not important for most people.

I think is much worse when one player lose, simulating to play normally. This happens, this is a game, the other question is:

3) Could be a right of a player, to waste a match? or simply one player could not to play at his best.

I disapproved the rush of Naniwa but really was not important for the tourmanet and it was an entertaining match, very funny.

I hope GOM tolerate more in future, that remains a game. That match was not important, and Naniwa has not done anything serious.

In the end.

Just Naniwa played a bad strategy, that's all.

When you pay someone $840 just to show up and play games for a tournament you'd at least expect them to play them out in full.

QFT

You misunderstand. This was not some invitation he received that could be arbitrarily revoked, it was a spot he earned and a had a right to. The only way for GomTV to legally revoke that would be if he broke the rules. According to them, he did, but the rule they cite is not one that has been followed in the past, so now GomTV finds themselves either having to revoke a lot Code A and Code S players' right to play in their leagues, or they have acted illegally.

Or they could just give NaNiWa his seed back, apologize for their actions, fix their rules and tournament structure and go on with life losing only a minimal amount of revenue from their customers, and perhaps not risk being sued--like any real professional company would do, if they ever put themselves in such a situation in the first place.

no he never had the seed...there is a very big difference. seriously i dont get people saying it might as well be revoking because he would have gotten the seed anyways. have they never lived in the outside world or something?

Well done GOM.
