If this was any other sport then lawyers would be consulted right now about lodging legal proceedings against Gom. Pretty scandalous behaviour from them - can you really imagine Manchester United getting banned from a tournament for fielding a weakened team in a game that doesn't matter?

A better comparison would be if their players just stood still and let the other team score infinite goals.

More like a team just walks out of the stadium as soon as the game starts.

Actually, in PROFESSIONAL SPORTS, useless games aren't even played. If they are, they don't use their starting lines, instead they play their rookies and developing roster. Get your facts right people, stop living in a box.

Yup, and that's also getting punished:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/feb/18/wolves-fined-manchester-united

They punished them for 25,000 euros? LOL, you know how much money football players make?

you can't relate that to this situation because in this case, they're taking the COMPLETELY OUT OF THE TOURNAMENT.

Well his Code S seed is the only thing they can take away from him. Do you think he would ever pay a fine if they would've fined him?

If a soccer team would come to a match and only stand still it and let the opponent score goals at will, how would the fans react? If a team came to a match and just walked out of the stadium, how would the fans react?

Good comparison

"Pay fine or don't play code S - your choice".

Yes. Yes I think he would.

Just did too. I'm a Naniwa fan so obviously I'm biased but if any other player did the same thing and was punished the same way I'd still do the same. The ruling was so ridiculous

Did you get upset over Coca losing his code S spot?

So not only does this precedes GOM judging tactics as "abusive" even though they are clearly allowed within the game but they also sink to personal attacks by insulting players.

How is GOM any better than Naniwa?

They also need to clearly define which tactics are not allowed in their tournaments. Probe rush is obviously not allowed, what else?

On Korean stream of GSL right now, Mr.Chae has announced that they made Code S seeds for a professional minded pro-gamer not for an amateur prize money hunter.

HuH.... ? This one is the bomb.

I think you guys are missing something here.

The rule that GOM is able to deny participation in the event a player is deemed unfit to be a gamer is completely justified when you consider Naniwa vs Lucky, where he left the game without a gg and now this.

That is such a huge disrespect to the Korean scene, and if you look at it from their point of view, they invited Naniwa to come into Code A, and through their partnership Naniwa got a Code S spot, therefore he was effectively invited by GOM, and he has shown disrespect to GOM and pretty much all Korean fans on two occasions.

Simply put, he needs to clean up his attitude, he deserves this. And before anyone mentions Idra, Idra has toned his attitude down a lot, the difference between Naniwa and IdrA is IdrA knows when he can BM and when he can't.

I like how they make the rule so vague that it basically becomes a catch-all for any behavior they might not like (Same with the insulting "unfit to be a gamer" nonsense). Or maybe there is a way you can contact GOM if you feel offended by a certain play/strat, etc - I hate 1/1/1 for example ;p

Why does it bother you guys that NaNiwa is being tossed from GSL January?

It isn't like NaNiwa has any respect for GOM or their tournaments.

That's really ignorant, he's been wanting to play in Code S for a long time, there's an interview about it way back. He's the most passionate player right now, he doesn't like wasting time on interviews or any of the extra stuff. he just wants to play the game, it's like denying his right to.

You are aware that this is basicly a slap on the wrist. If GOM had fined Nani or his team that would have been fine and arguably justified. If you choose to use this as an example, the equivalent would be the Premier League relegating the Wolves to the 2nd division (or whatever it is called in England).
Which they didn't, because it would be unreasonable and a punishment much worse then the (percieved) crime.

So thank you for making that excellent point!

They are taking about the sanctity of competition in the same breath as they announce seeds into Code S based on popularity.

Not a fan.

So every player who did /dance, manner nexus, mule drop should be banned as well? 1-1-1 is pretty damn abuse, ban every Terran that did that? Because I get offended every time a Terran 1 base all-ins.

I think its probably important to remember this probably wasn't a decision made by Mr Chae alone. The Korean reaction to this was extremely negative, they wanted punishment, especially after parallels being drawn to the Coca incident. Anyone who gave this more than a minutes thought last night realized this was coming. He fucked up, big time, I'm surprised if he wasn't expecting this.

It's pretty disappointing how grossly nationalistic Swedish people are. I'd honestly expect such a "developed" and "liberal" country to be a little less narrow minded. The same people who refuse to buy GSL tickets because Naniwa, who happens to be Swedish, got kicked out, would probably rally and buy GSL tickets the moment Sase or Jinro gets to play in Code A.

Just think about what would happen to a Korean progamer that did what Naniwa did . . . the team would probably kick him out to disassociate themselves with someone so disrespectful.

If you are trying to be funny it's not working. And the tears are saved, buddy, don't worry.

I'm just not supporting an organization treating people like this, that is all. Laugh if you want, I don't care :-)
