but money comes first i guess. gom values entertainment over competition by making decisions to honor both competition and legitimacy of the sports, risking loss of viewership = money comes first today is opposite day~! Nope he right. If they valued the competition they wouldntve invited Sen and Idra but better, deserving players

Actually, in PROFESSIONAL SPORTS, useless games aren't even played. If they are, they don't use their starting lines, instead they play their rookies and developing roster. Get your facts right people, stop living in a box. Yup, and that's also getting punished: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/feb/18/wolves-fined-manchester-united They punished them for 25,000 euros? LOL, you know how much money football players make? you can't relate that to this situation because in this case, they're taking the COMPLETELY OUT OF THE TOURNAMENT. Well his Code S seed is the only thing they can take away from him. Do you think he would ever pay a fine if they would've fined him? If a soccer team would come to a match and only stand still it and let the opponent score goals at will, how would the fans react? If a team came to a match and just walked out of the stadium, how would the fans react? Good comparison "Pay fine or don't play code S - your choice". Yes. Yes I think he would. You know Quantic would pay it for him, so it wouldn't really punish him at all

It's actually GOM's fault. Is there some sort of clause that states the player must try their best to win all matches?....Yes Nani may have been unprofessional but he has not broken any rules. Don't expect players to be professional, gom didn't protect themselves enough. Nani probably deserves people to call a probe pull an idiot move but to lose a Code S spot...no. Also if Gom wanted publicity it could have left nani in and created a whole lot more drama, so they aren't interested in that. Instead they just suck at writing rules imo.

Actually Slayers made him forfeit his spot and demoted him to some C-teamer or something. Not living in the house even anymore. The Korean teams take these kind of match-fixing/throwing games things seriously and don't want it to go unpunished.

I completely understand GOMs actions. Sure what naniwa did wasnt the biggest fucking deal ever, but it was disrespectful and rude. AND, no other player would have done it. Did you see nestea after their game, how pissed he looked? He was in the same 0-3 situation as naniwa, but he was prepared to play a real game, for pride and for the fans. So would ANY other code S player, and in fact so would anyone but the most out of touch selfish player.
If GOM doesnt want him and his behaviour in their tournament then good on them for having the guts to do something about it.

What strategies are for GOM ... ok? Is it ok to do a 6 pool? Is it ok to take 4 drones and attack? We clearly see we can't probe rush ...
Soon we will see that the minimum game requirement is 30 minutes and we get 15 minutes to "evolve" like playing on Big Game Hunters 10 years ago.
Do you understand that you can't win with a strategy like probe rush in a competition like GSL. You might not win straight-up with 6pooling, but you can follow it up and win. That is the difference between these.
Okay so making a 6-gate should also be allowed then.

He kinda put Gom in a hard position. Punish Naniwa, foreign fans get butthurt. Don't punish him, Koreans get butthurt. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Warning or disqualification - 경기중에 과격한 행동으로 상대 게이머나 관중들에게 위협을 가할 때 - During a match, a player shall not offend the opponent or audience with abusive behaviours
then why dont they ban everyone who manner mule drops?

but money comes first i guess. that doesn't even make sense. they're banning a player knowing it will decrease viewership for the sake of upholding their rules.
they are enforcing a standard that forces players faking matches when there's no incentice to play. Faking competition is hurting the legitimacy of the sport bigtime imo.
but well, wrestling fans also claim it is a sport so whatever..

Could PLZ someone say what the EXACT WORDS were, which Naniwa is punished for?
|
ITT: foreigners QQing about other peoples' culture???
"Our standards the best! I can't believe they aren't to our standards!"
You don't have to follow them, but you don't have to watch GSL. Have some respect for the culture of millions of people, yeah?
Clearly people haven't been around long enough... If this were Kespa you wouldn't see naniwa in korea again.
I'm going to say this again, if a korean had done it you guys would be a lot more disappointed in the korean because of the standards he lives by and is put up to. Just because this guy had a terrible mentality doesn't excuse his terrible behavior.

Warning or disqualification - 경기중에 과격한 행동으로 상대 게이머나 관중들에게 위협을 가할 때 - During a match, a player shall not offend the opponent or audience with abusive behaviours I like how they make the rule so vague that it basically becomes a catch-all for any behavior they might not like (Same with the insulting "unfit to be a pro-gamer" nonsense). Or maybe there is a way you can contact GOM if you feel offended by a certain play/strat, etc - I hate 1/1/1 for example ;p
Wouldn't Manner Mules be considered Disrespect and insulting to the other player? I guess I am happy that this will get out of the way. Since worker rushing is a great offense.

lol ok.....they banned him cuz he didnt play in competitive spirit....

youre all missing the point, its not the strategy. its that he showed he didnt give a sh*t.
he could have gone for something stupid like mass carrier, and as long as it looked like he was microing and stuff, it would have been fine. but if you look at his body language, it was pure disrespect.
|
This is a bit harsh, he didn't do anything wrong by the GOM rules, he just used a really bad build
|
Nice move GOM. That just shows me how the structre there really works. "If you make any critisism offically, we will punish you for it" and "We will even punish you for doing BOs which arent offically approved by our fan-loved dudes" No GSL pass for me this year. I don't support dictatorial companies.

My small contribution at least. Just did too. I'm a Naniwa fan so obviously I'm biased but if any other player did the same thing and was punished the same way I'd still do the same. The ruling was so ridiculous Did you get upset over Coca losing his code S spot?
If you are suggesting the Coca incident is anything like Naniwa's I am afraid you are dead wrong. Coca forfeited a match he was dominating in, meant something and to help out a friend. Naniwa forfeited a worthless game and no one benefited.

I think that from now on all koreans should be disqualified from Foreign tournaments unless they're prepared to fully answer interviews in English.
we can't give them preferential treatment of using translators just because they come from a different culture and don't know english.
This sounds fair!
