Man some of you overrate HoSeo players like crazy based on team league results.
Team league is much easier if your opponent knows nothing about you (sculp, sage, seal etc.).
The only HoSeo player that is legitimately good and has shown consistent results outside of the team league is jjakji. Tassadar is also pretty good but I don't think he is code s level. Not until he can fix his PvT.
Aside from that, the rest have been using the fact that they are completely unknown to their advantage.

This statement is beyond idiotic.

By the end of the circuit, you'd be automatically giving the players who are barely hanging on to a group spot in MLG automatic Code A seeds, where they would go and get 100% obliterated. I don't think there's doubt in anyone's mind that players such as inControl or Machine would stand no chance in Korea right now, but that's what would happen if the rules didn't allow repeat invites.
Honestly, for me, Naniwa is probably one of, if not the absolute best shot the foreigners have at actually winning a GSL tournament, so I think it'd be a shame if the rules forced him to leave after just one attempt. So far, Thorzain has shown a bit more promise. But Naniwa has that capability as well.

Wrong thread? I really am not seeing the relevance.

Well, no matter who likes it or not, according to the deal between GSL and MLG he gets a spot because no matter how his performance in the previous Code A, he is still one of the top foreign finishers at MLG, right?

It's okay. Naniwa is doing the right thing by focusing on training now. Results will follow eventually. Think about HuK who was getting better, while people had no idea yet, and judged him only by current results.

I'm guessing the relevance is that some of the HoSeo players, who are very good, are still not placed that high in the Code A/S rankings. --> An example that people need to chill.

Anyone know if Idra's code A invite is still valid from MLG? He's going to Korea next month, but didn't he already decline the code A invite from MLG Columbus, and does that mean he'll have to go through the qualifiers?
|
I don't understand how people are saying its unfair for Naniwa when Koreans get direct seeds into pool play at MLG. Its the system they have set up.
|
Why those people on the front page even respond. Just to piss me off? He wins MLG and get highest placing foreigner the two times afterwards. He actually accepts the invite and sells his apartment and goes to live in Korea. And you say it isn't fair that he has earned himself two spots? Nestea can win code S three times, is that fair? Should Nestea be banned so other people can win? Should NaNiwa be banned so 10 people can decline code A and then we get some random guy from open bracket who accepts. While NaNiwa is there practicing his ass off, does that seem fair? I really don't understand how you people can look at a system, with rules, it's perfectly clear. And then decide that you don't like something and thus that's not how the system works. When it's not even a decision to make for anyone but those who will accept their earned code A spots or if they pass them. Seriously, that last part I can't stand but also give them the respect they deserve. They have more than earned their spots and if they get it 10 times in a row then so be it.
|
No need to say sorry Nani, like you said it is just the way it is. I hope Korea is treating u well. I cant wait for you to adjust and starting kicking ass!
|
if Nani is the best placed foreigner and always one of the best foriegners at MLG, id rather he got the free code A spot then someone who came about 3-10 places after him just because he already got one invite, espceailly when he perform far better then any of the others.

Because HuK is already in Code S, and either Ret/IdrA/SLush has turned down their spots. To be accurate, Sjow is one of the top 3 foreigners who accepted that spot.
I'm hoping for Select to make a deeper run next time round.

<3 Nani, I actually hope he keeps getting invited until he finally gets into code S and wins it. Would be nice to see Nani be like Huk and start owning up code s

The smartest thing to do would be to include a new rule saying that one can't qualify for Code A through MLG twice in a row or something similar. How would it be unfair? If he keeps dominating in MLG, I see no reason to keep him from it. I actually disagree. The problem is there is a very small pool of interested individuals in going to Korea that are non-residents. Really, the actual problem is that 3 Code A spots is too much. One or two is sufficient.
even if it was one i wouldve gotten it :D

I don't think it's something to apologize over It's helping bridge the Korean and foreign scenes. I think even the Code B players would realize the importance of that. And I'm sure you'll show us soon that you are indeed deserving of this opportunity!
Lol...im pretty sure most of the Code B players don't care about bridging the scene, especially at the expense of their own success. If you grew up in Korea, aspired to be a programmer, and practiced everyday to get there, you too would be upset if a foreigner has a easier path than you. It's all about perspective. People want whats best for themselves. Having a global Starcraft scene may be important for a foreign spectator, but it's equally vital to understand it's completely different coming from a Korean player's perspective, especially if the effects of globalization don't directly benefit the majority of Code B players.
On a side note, its not Naniwa's fault things are like this. Yes its unfair, but the blame lies with the system, not the player.

yeah I'm sure that as GrandMasters on the korean server HoSeo doesn't ever hit anyone on the ladder... Everyone in Korea knew who Bomber and DRG were before any of the foreigners did obviously because of how many times they played them on the ladder. The IM coach was very familiar with all the players before the team was formed, and the team recruited a lot of players... but yeah they probably just picked up all these monsters by luck, and no1 ever heard of them before...Think before you post.
