Have no fear I will keep this updated through release!

lets talk about the top clans to watch out for in dota2. In my opinion clan NBD is on the rise and will surely dominate the dota2 scene.

.... general discussion. Trust me i will be playing this game after release. but an announcement thread and a general discussion thread are very different things T.T
|
Let's discuss the rise of dota 2 in esport and how that correlates to the slow and painful downfall of LoL in the competitive esport scene.

hey i like LoL too

Only two more days until we get a view at everything. So exciting. I wonder if there have been any changes or if they added an extra spell to each hero, or raised the level cap. Im sure they did a whole knew re-balance of the game. It'll be really interesting to see how well valve has put together their tourney and what the production quality is like compared to a mlg or gsl. Only time will tell.

somebody make a poll on who gona win 1mil $ :D im rooting for starboba, my home team

Don't purposely try to turn this thread into DotA2 vs HoN. With Gamescon coming up soon, you guys have plenty to talk about without relying on flame bait.

The graphics were kind of disappointing from the pictures I've seen so far. Looks like HoN and LoL graphics mixed together.

So do we have any Idea if we will get all the hero when the game comes out or will they slowly release the 80+ heroes?

the most used heroes in pro scene will be in the tournament, while the rest will be added in the beta-early release.

NBD HWAITING! ~

I was out of touch for quite some time, whos NBD?
|
As cool as this is, the real thread will be made by paper.
Just like nba, football, nfl, hockey, ufc threads are maintained by a core group, this is just a placeholder until open beta.
And in case no one has seen it yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOEGD7kzUEM
It's hard to predict who will play the best, but those who possess high competitive ability from dota should be the ones you can bet on.

I just hope this thread doesn't turn to a DotA vs LoL/HoN endless debate
The 17th is the day. Can't wait

DotA skill will easily translate to D2, so Best DotA teams = Best DotA 2 teams = MYM HWAITING!!!

wow the trailer is giving me chills...im so hyped.

1/INVOKER 2/storm ultimate (a little disappointing) 3/The carriers lineup: Troll Void PA Riki Spec 4/ Tinker Zeus :<

Can a mod make a sticky
"DotA 2 discussions ONLY, no HoN/LoL"
Seems like we'd need one -_-
|
Well, it's a cinematic trailer so it differs from the real ingame graphics and effects. It's a nice trailer, though
Can't wait to see it at GamesCom, Cologne :O
|
It would seem that a million dollar tournament would be worth streaming so is it safe to say they will be casted and streamed live? I'm not familiar with how IEM usually runs their events : /

The trailer is amazing! Am I the only one who spotted furion?

Hmmmmm.... do you guys think they will have LAN? All valve games have it so I would guess this one will as well. Lately most company's are just saying fuck it... I really hope Valve doesn't join that bandwagon

Honestly i think they'll get it for tournaments-only, since it's incredibly dangerous to put LAN in a game whose main playerbase is located in China/Philippines (no offense to pinoys )

Thats actually a very interesting concept and never actually thought about it. I definitely don't have 10 friends who would play DotA 2 though and I doubt a lot of people out there actually do. If they are so eager about their competitive scene though it would be the logical choice.

We really can't tell at this moment, we don't even know wether the game is gonna be f2p or if we have to pay for it. I guess things will clear up when beta finally arrives...

I think LAN is important for such a game, so I'm guessing it would be f2p.

Very true Spacer, but if it does go F2P then I wouldn't really see the point to not having it in there. MOBA games in general require alot of timing and micro and any lag would just fuck them all over.

It's actually entirely the Source engine. They didn't use any special CGI.

I think valve is going to have to make it ftp to compete with LoL casuals wise. I also don't see why not, as the format has been so massively successful for riot games. Just include like a fixed price that can unlock all heroes and we good.

Companies don't leave LAN out to annoy customers. They do it because of the insane amounts of piracy that goes on when LAN is available on a game. They are a business trying to make profits so its a decision that usually needs to be made.

With TF2 being Valves lab rat I think they know they would be able to be F2P and get away with it. I just really hope they don't make it so i need to buy Champions... That's the thing that really turns me off to LoL and HoN. I don't mind if they sell skins, taunts, hats(lol ^_^), and etc. It would just be a real bummer if they did that shit.

Its the community that will be a huge factor in who's the 'better' game. So try to be as supportive as possible and clean as possible too. LoL is just bashing DotA2 any chance they have, don't get hurt or ath because i can guarantee you that DotA 2 is better than LoL and i've played both games.
All it needs is a good community.

Seen interviews with top players complaining due to counters not being released yet, making some champs pretty op in the beta. Also if you've followed the changelogs at all there is a ton of bugs with every champ when they are first introduced into dota 2, so may take quite a while to get everyone in game.

Doubt it as if you've noticed wc3 would be the best selling pc game off all time(or close) if it wasn't for all the pirating and private servers, especially in asia.

So they won't be playing with 80+ heroes? That sucks, i was hoping to see some special picks to beat the chinese. Heroes Heroes Heroes not champions, Thanks.

Yeah, someone is gonna get stabbed for calling heroes champs soon for sure.

so pumped for dota 2
lol/hon were terrible

I like the trailer except I think that the sound effects are wimpy. Maybe they are trying to make use of the same sound effects that will be in the game but they all feel very light or low impact. But it's just a trailer so no harm done.

Well the game is F2P ANYWAY! why not lan? Lets look at tf2 for a moment.
The main reason for valve making TF2 f2p not only for testing out dota2 model but also because in China there is a replicate of TF2 with chinese features. It obviously will attract more user due to the culture and language barrier of TF2 to chinese fans.
If DotA2 is does not has LAN, there soon will be a crack for it (even sc2 got LAN crack now) and valve wont be able to do shit. The best solution here is to make the online feat. so good that LAN will be less in use. Single players will be able to find their own team using online feat. instead of LAN. Achievement unlock skin and items etc... LAN is needed but removing LAN is not the answer to anti-piracy.

Where did you read that it was f2p? I know we are all assuming it is, but is it confirmed?
