To be honest, it's indeed a misnomer, having derived from earlier in US history when the only people from the continent of Asia were Chinese immigrants over a century ago, that it just stuck to people from the general area of the far east, in the same manner that Native Americans are called Indians to this day because Columbus didn't know where the hell he was. It's like saying someone is only European if they come from France, Britain, Spain, Portugal, or Italy. It just doesn't make sense. In any case, I'll take your challenge. Here's a fun fact about our own country: less than 20% of the US population is East Asian. It's actually about 5%. Hard to believe when living in California or Hawaii, but it is indeed the fact of the matter. Next, I won't just name countries with no East Asians or less than 20%, and there's plenty of them, I'll name 10 countries in Asia that have negligible or nonexistent East Asian populations, then there's India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Syria.

Second of all, when you call someone Asian, its assumed he looks like Chinese/ Korean / Japanese etc etc. Nobody calls a Saudi Arabian Asian. Nor does anybody call a Saudi Arabian Oriental either. Wikipedia: "The adjectival term Oriental has been used by the West to mean cultures, peoples, countries, and goods from the Orient. "Oriental" means generally "eastern". It is a traditional designation (especially when capitalized) for anything belonging to the Orient or "East" (for Asia), and especially of its Eastern culture. It indicated the eastern direction in historical astronomy, often abbreviated "Ori."[3] In contemporary English, Oriental usually refers to things from the parts of East Asia traditionally occupied by East Asians and most Central Asians and Southeast Asians racially categorized as "Mongoloid". This excludes Indians, Arabs, most other West Asian peoples. Because of historical discrimination against Chinese and Japanese, in some parts of the United States, the term is considered derogatory; for example, Washington state prohibits use of the word "Oriental" in legislation and government documentation, preferring the word "Asian" instead.[4]" Don't need to give you a reason other than the fact that most Asians don't like to be called by it, just like Black people don't like the N word either. Also in pickup, most people learning it from Asia are Asians. Nobody ever classifies Asians with Indians. Nobody ever classifies Asians with Middle Eastern people. We don't look alike, we don't have the same type of cultures or personalities, therefore Oriental has no purpose other than the fact its a stupid word.

I mean I get that some people don't like it (and accept that). But its just a word and I don't think it really compares to the N word. This is more like arguing whether or not to be called Black or African American. Fuck it, I just accept that we are all People.

How can anyone be offended by the term Negro? It just means black! Certain ethnic terms are offensive because they have a history of being used offensively. Personally, I'm Asian-American but I could care less if you called me Asian, Oriental, or Chink... but at the same time, it's important to recognize that some people do take offense to certain words.

I have no real issues you with doing what you're doing, or the reasoning behind it, or whatever. Whether "PUA" techniques are effective or not I don't think has been "proven" via this thread, but that isn't really that important. What I do agree with is that if you are out there grinding out encounters and dates with girls, approaching girls you don't know in clubs, and generally putting yourself out there with women, you WILL have more experience with women and have a better understanding of what (if anything) makes attraction for them. I'd chalk that up to the mere fact that as humans do ANYTHING a lot, they tend to get better at it over time, and not necessary because of "pick-up," but that isn't really my question. My question is this: What is the sort of "end goal" of this? By that I mean, how would you describe this phase of your life to the woman you end up being with long term (marriage, or something like it)? How would you explain what you did? Could you be honest about it? Do you ever even see yourself being in a relationship like that (is it interesting to you)? Also, how would you explain it if you met that girl through "pick up?" That there are certain techniques, tricks, patterns (however you want to define PU), and that you used these on her in order for her to be more attracted to you (with the underlying goal that she would sleep with you, if you want)? This is an honest question and not intended to "prove a point" or anything of that nature. How would you describe "pick up" to a long term relationship girl that you are open and honest with (I realize this isn't really an "end goal" of pick-up).

Could you be honest about it? Do you ever even see yourself being in a relationship like that (is it interesting to you)? Everyone's goals are different. Some guys want one night stands for the rest of their lives, other guys are just trying to develop the skills to find an awesome woman to marry, etc. Personally, as a polyamorous guy with a high sex drive, I'm happy with the multiple open long-term relationships I currently have. Since I do want a family at some point, I plan to eventually settle down with one or two girls, marry her/them (in spirit if the latter, since legally impossible under US law), and have kids. It makes no difference. If a girl starts dating a guy partly from using flirting tips she found in Cosmo, would you consider that relationship different in any way?

Give me one single God damn reason why you would ever want to get married. Seriously, what is one single benefit a man gets out of marriage? If you can't lock a girl in with normal game, then an expensive blood diamond on her finger isn't going to make a difference. Marriage is the ultimate shit test for me - a huge DLV.
