Besides I want to thank Nazgul for his posts, I have to agree 100% and Jinro for substantiating the situation repeatedly. But in the end its EG's tournament/league as a result they can define the rules, even if they are not fair. I am sure there will be a lot of great games but I am not sure if I should support that in watching it.

That being said it can be a bit problematic when a team hosts their own tournament. EG obviously have a vested interest in their players doing well and for the entire NA scene to look its best. This means that any perceived bias will be instantly blown up. Having all the Euros playing on the NA server, "punishing" the players who went to Korea, inviting a weaker Euro team (MYM) instead of a stronger one (Empire)... It all looks worse than it really should, simply because it's EG running the tourney and not some impartial third party. As always, perception is way more important than reality. As much as I love TL I think in the end the tournament is better off not having players in Korea (sorry Jinro <3333 ). It just becomes a latency flamewar that detracts a lot from the experience. What we really need are more weekend-lan tournaments with players from all regions. These shorter events have by far the most potential for epicosity. All of the long leagues and online tournaments are starting to blend into each other over time and the stories get lost. Maybe it would be possible to run a small team league in conjunction with an MLG/IEM event if the players could fly out a day early or something, a bit like GSL WC. Would be pretty sweet but probably a logistical nightmare. Anyway I'm just rambling now. Team leagues are awesome, thank you EG!

Just cuz it's not on tv doesn't mean it's not political silly american. Yes that is the point. I'm thinking about playing standards every time i see a new Tourney and the discussion is not unimportant. It is organized by EG but they can't do what they want. Currently the sc2 esport is supported and designed by pro teams like TL, EG, mousesports ... . They all are responsible for the esport development. The decision from EG seems to me like a step back.

And that was a bad thing/bad games. Were you trying to use these (Olympic games) as counter-arguments? Yes, these things happened in "real" sports and they were unfair and caused frustration. But it was still a bad thing. And we are past that. Hopefully eSports will get there as well. Seems to me that was even EGs opinion. (like: "they are just 3 players from one team, why would we inconvenience 50 others?" (no direct quote))

Seriously. if the lag is that bad then there's no point in playing. Rotating servers means that Liquid is more likely to win than if you don't rotate servers because you're giving everyone a disadvantage, but what the hell are you competing in then? The ability to overcome lag? That's not what it should be about.

Yeah a 1 week tournament is the same as a 7 week league.

How is "it's our tournament [so the rules are whatever we want them to be]" a reasonable point though? It's a legit point, sure. But it's the exact opposite of being reasonable. On the other note, TL only asks that the tournament implements fair rules for everyone. It just so happens that TL, with two players in Korea, needs that alternating servers rule more than the other teams do (although it would be fair towards Europeans as well), but it's not like they're asking for favors or special treatment for TL players. They only want a fair playing ground for everyone, including their own players of course. Whereas the counter argument to that is like "well you guys chose to keep people in Korea, tough luck". Again, not exactly reasonable.

EG proxy gate/ling rushing JulyZerg and Junwi (offracing as Terran) and winning in 8 minutes: EG proxy gate/ling rushing Morrow and Strelok and winning in 14 minutes: EG proxy gate/ling rushing Drewbie and Catz and winning in 10 minutes: EG proxy gate/ling rushing PungPung and Atreyu and winning in 11 minutes: Basically, "high level 2v2" equals 4 1v1 players playing a game in which the team with very little preperation execute a 1 base rush and kill the guys with zero preperation. I'd rather they just played a reverse race game if they HAVE to throw a "fun" game in there, at least most of the players will have more experience playing with their offrace than with their designated 2v2 partner.

Greg Fields casting, WOOT! And to anyone else who will cast. I feel obliged to warn you for the dangers that lie ahead. There is this Evil Genius who will most likely ask if you will be able to come to his "studio" to cast because it will be more "professional" but in reality it's actually a basement that has took the careers of many commentators before you. Legend has it only a few people have been able to escape and make it out alive. So be warned! They aren't called Evil Geniuses for no reason ![]() + Show Spoiler + As a disclaimer so it's not inappropriate, it's a spin on the running SirScoots's evil basement joke ![]() Edit: to cuppatea, I think that is actually really cool for 2v2, heavy early game cheesey micro oriented tactics <3 And when more of this format gets played, we allow it to develop and it will become even better!
