Even PiQLiQ has been #1 on the ladder. hes no slouch who just randomly appeared on the starcraft scene. he was a practice partner for the hite sparkyz team in sc1 and was almost picked up to be a fulltime player for them if i recall correctly. he also has a great understanding of sc1 with insane macro/micro abilities from sc1 which transition amazingly well into sc2. he hasnt shown much aside from dominating the NA ladder but the pedigree and know-how is there and thats what teams are looking for and can build upon. I know his background in SC1. That is why I specifically said "What results has he shown in SC2". SC1 skill =/= SC2 skill. Sure a great deal of the skill sets do transfer over but it is not guaranteed and to how much of it actually does transfer over depends entirely on the player. IdrA was by far the best SC1 player in the foreigner scene at the twilight of Broodwar yet he hasn't shown the same dominance in SC2. Yes of course, he's good but its not the same level. Now look at HuK. He was a complete unknown in SC1 and though he was probably skilled, he was definitely not a top tier foreigner. But look now in SC2, he is one of the best protosses if not the best protoss outside of Korea. It depends entirely on the person's work ethic, game strengths, mentality and skillsets, and a whole list of other variables that determine how much of his SC1 skill will transfer over. And I did say I do agree with the post that he is skilled.

Doesn't mean you're a bad person or anything, but it raises some legitimate concerns about whether or not your current employer can trust you to stick around.

And I did say I do agree with the post that he is skilled. you're right, alot factors into how good a player ends up being when the transition does occur. from what everyone has seen SO FAR, gositerran has shown he still has insane mechanics and an insane skill set to go along with a good work ethic. does this mean he will become the best sc2 player outside of korea? chances are no. but does this also mean he will fizzle out in 4-5 months and never be heard from again as long as hes signed to a team? absolutely not. from what we've all seen so far, this guy has only been playing for a very short time and has already shown he can EASILY compete with the "top" NA/EU players. he will only get better as he learns more about sc2. you have to keep in mind this guy was as close to becoming a pro for a korean team as you could get without actually flying out and living in the team house/competing on tv. his mechanics are as good as it gets and its very safe to assume this guy isint going to fall off the map or become terrible anytime soon as long as he continues to practice and compete.

Im not surprised hes with artosis now, his goal is korea and artosis almost got him their once. Why is everyone so harsh? I've been following his situation rather closely since he started to make a splash in SC2 and I don't really have a bad impression of him as of yet. Like I know he was a clan hopper in SC1, but were there any sponsored/serious foreigner teams back then? I don't know why people are criticizing his past so harshly especially when you consider the stakes. Teams are actually paying him a salary and sending him to live events now. I'm pretty sure this affects how he approaches his commitments to the teams he joins. But maybe I'm just blind (: AFAIK He was never sponsored in those teams. Is it a crime to seek a professional team so you can attend live events? It seems like 90% of the people flaming him are just jumping on the bandwagon that he's "rude" etc. Who isn't rude and bm nowadays? You can find replays of most pros bming in some fashion. You can turn a blind eye to it, but hes just using people and moving on to the next best thing, and your opinion on that is rightfully yours. I dunno, man -- QXC also left Root because they always "almost" had active sponsors. This guy isn't the only one to complain about Root in that respect.

But I feel like Artosis is very much aware of what Gosi is missing to be able to breakthrough so to say. Something like professionalism and behaviour, Artosis is a master of this amongst other things. I also feel like I can expect to say the same about Gosi. I know what recently happened and read many of the comments. I could very well be wrong in thinking this won't be like that, and I can understand completely that those who have witnessed all of it many times before will not be able to have any faith in it. However he is 17 years old and probably soon to be 18. At some point he's gonna change his view from the more teenager style, that can be associated with his behaviour, to a more grown up and professional one. Therefor I hope for him and us, since he has such great potential, he has changed his mindset and truly wants to flourish. It's also possible to strengthen the argument by bringing in some kind of contractual binding, One that is somehow set up as to safeguard Gosi from self sabotage. Best of luck Gosi! Make it happen, I think you are super talented from what I hear so I would love to see you a lot in the future. And with a captain, coach, mentor and friend in Artosis. You should consider yourself a lucky one ![]()

Juan is a high school kid, i.e. without income. For him to play SC2 professionally, i.e. train everyday, it is a much bigger sacrifice for him in terms of education and closing off many career opportunities prematurely. Given that ROOT wasn't sponsored until recently and did not pay their players to attend tournaments, it meant that the only way for ROOT players to make money out of SC2 was to front their own travel costs and gamble on their chances to win enough at the tournament. So Juan is pretty much confronted with this: He enjoys SC2 and wants to go pro. However, to do so under ROOT, he has to quit school/sleep, close off many career paths that would have been available if he followed a standard lifestyle, and pay thousands of dollars to attend tournaments with very fierce competition while having no income. Alternatively, Juan can find a team that actually suits his needs. Every team out there that is aware of the BW scene knows how much crazy potential this guy has, and accordingly, I'm sure he had no shortage of offers going his way. ROOT, in its former/current sponsorship position, could never have hoped to satisfy what Juan needed to progress his SC2 career. For Juan, it was a good chance to get top tier practice partners and publicity. ROOT only saw potential and was greedy to take the gamble and try to secure Juan, but we can see now that it didn't work. Anyway, good luck to Juan and sixjax. I'm not sure that sixjax is the team for Juan, but it is certainly a better suited team than ROOT.
