This is another one of the reasons I feel like he's a bad pickup for the team. Best of luck anyways I guess.

I've been following his situation rather closely since he started to make a splash in SC2 and I don't really have a bad impression of him as of yet.
Like I know he was a clan hopper in SC1, but were there any sponsored/serious foreigner teams back then? I don't know why people are criticizing his past so harshly especially when you consider the stakes. Teams are actually paying him a salary and sending him to live events now. I'm pretty sure this affects how he approaches his commitments to the teams he joins.
But maybe I'm just blind (: Hes left two teams already as far as i know, has always been a rude clan hopper and hes keeping it up so far in SC2. Im not surprised hes with artosis now, his goal is korea and artosis almost got him their once. AFAIK He was never sponsored in those teams. Is it a crime to seek a professional team so you can attend live events? It seems like 90% of the people flaming him are just jumping on the bandwagon that he's "rude" etc. Who isn't rude and bm nowadays? You can find replays of most pros bming in some fashion. ROOT had the ability to, but he has no loyalty so he never got that funding, ill give you that his first team was a write off. You can turn a blind eye to it, but hes just using people and moving on to the next best thing, and your opinion on that is rightfully yours. I dunno, man -- QXC also left Root because they always "almost" had active sponsors. This guy isn't the only one to complain about Root in that respect. He didn't act ungrateful on the forums or have a huge history of being a dick/clan hopper.

Juan is a high school kid, i.e. without income. For him to play SC2 professionally, i.e. train everyday, it is a much bigger sacrifice for him in terms of education and closing off many career opportunities prematurely.
Given that ROOT wasn't sponsored until recently and did not pay their players to attend tournaments, it meant that the only way for ROOT players to make money out of SC2 was to front their own travel costs and gamble on their chances to win enough at the tournament.
So Juan is pretty much confronted with this: He enjoys SC2 and wants to go pro. However, to do so under ROOT, he has to quit school/sleep, close off many career paths that would have been available if he followed a standard lifestyle, and pay thousands of dollars to attend tournaments with very fierce competition while having no income.
Alternatively, Juan can find a team that actually suits his needs. Every team out there that is aware of the BW scene knows how much crazy potential this guy has, and accordingly, I'm sure he had no shortage of offers going his way.
ROOT, in its former/current sponsorship position, could never have hoped to satisfy what Juan needed to progress his SC2 career. For Juan, it was a good chance to get top tier practice partners and publicity. ROOT only saw potential and was greedy to take the gamble and try to secure Juan, but we can see now that it didn't work.
Anyway, good luck to Juan and sixjax. I'm not sure that sixjax is the team for Juan, but it is certainly a better suited team than ROOT.

The first time I heard of this guy was the drama about joining ROOT, the next time I see him he is rage-quitting an FXO tournament, and now this? He better be bloody good. And lol at the guy bring up ROOT wanting people to pay rent to join their team house. You mean people really have to pay for rent and board to live somewhere? Even if they play on the same team? My god, what an outrage.

I feel like I should be rewarded financially for how much time I've been planning to put in
If only we could all be rewarded for planning to do something before we actually do it.

Wait is this the same Artosis who was temp banned from here for calling the moderators bad things and generally having a massive cry because had to have a regame where HE disconnected? I'm sure he can help instill the IdrA/Artosis mindset even more into the kid so we can have a new breed of bm ragemachine.
However, he is a good naturally talented player. But i'd take someone like kolll anyday given the choice.

After being shown so much trust by Artosis, he better not fuck this up!

My god, what an outrage. you do realize ROOT expected a 17 year old kid to move from MEXICO to florida while paying rent to live in a team house right? for them to expect him to move in, pay rent, pay his own plane ticket to tournaments ontop of other expenses which sponsors would normally cover is absurd and this is not even bringing up the whole issue of him needing to obtain a visa in order to come in to the country and work (which i dont think can even occur due to his age). qxc and sheth also left due to sponsorship and money issues so obviously there was an issue there. the only difference is, when qxc and sheth leave everyone wishes them well, when gositerran leaves everyone bashes him.
a few posts up nailed it, ROOT got greedy and rushed to pick up a known player and failed. the team didnt have the backing in place gositerran felt he needed in order to compete at the level he wanted and made a decision to leave for a more established team. lets leave it at that and stop trying to take a crap on a person who just wants to further their career in pro-gaming. the way he goes about it is his business and thats that. whether people think its bm, immature, unprofessional. he believes this is the right choice so only time will tell.
at the end of the day both parties will be well off. ROOT will find new players who dont require as much attention as gositerran does, they will still be a top NA team and they will keep growing. gositerran will hopefully settle down with an already established team, focus on getting better and be a positive force in the sc2 foreigner community.

I wont criticize the guy for wanting to get paid, but there's no doubt in my mind that he would leave as soon as there's a higher bidder. He has clearly shown that loyalty isn't something that he upholds.

I personally think that trying to go pro-gamer so young is a mistake. Sacrificing College or University education is one thing, your high school education?
I love Starcraft, but screwing up your entire life prospects for it just seems silly.

This story makes me wonder when sc2 scholarships will happen :-) Good luck to Juan and the team!

It is not an encouraging sign though if a guy expect to be paid for future efforts instead of being rewarded for his past and present effort. kinda off topic + Show Spoiler +How did Naniwa change, him playing not well enough was never an issue, and he did not become a nice and mannered guy overnight, he does not rage and smacktalk openly at big stage, but that's hardly a change rather then a choice, and his manners were awful mostly in online / smaller tourneys/ ladder, and personally i got trashtlaked by him on ladder after his pledges to become a mannered player, and heard others say the same.

They didn't expect him to do anything. If he wanted to live in the house, ofc he had to cough up money for rent. Do you really think he could live for free there and live on CatZ and drewbie's own money just because they are in the same team? It's not a "teamhouse", it is CatZ house and he invited drewbie, TT1 and Fenix to live with him and play Starcraft. You are exaggerating the whole situation. If I move to the states for school, do you think its absurd that I have to pay rent to my roomies If I want roof over my head? I mean, I paid for school, I paid for the flight from Sweden without any income at all. Poor me, right? No ofc it's not absurd. You have a choice, either you have the money and you move to the US or you don't have the money and you stay home.

I love Starcraft, but screwing up your entire life prospects for it just seems silly. Well, the guy can't even use punctuation when he writes, something you learn in like second grade. If you can't do that when you're 17 years old I don't have much hope for him to get into a college.
