I forgot to add this in the OP. But after a really good game against protoss. 4 Bases both and I went ling bling corrupter broodlord. A really action packed game. My opponent leaves without gg. I typed to him why he thought it wasn't a gg, and back then I didn't even believed yet there were people that don't gg because there is no rule to gg... He replies and curses me, telling me I was BM to message him...

However, I stopped gl hf 'ing to see what would happen. and only about 10% of people would gl hf at the beginning. So all along I thought people were more mannered than they actually were; they were just humoring me! gg is kind of a funny thing. If you 4gate (or some other kind of rush) them and kill them, they will gg a very small portion of the time; if they are zerg, they probably won't gg you because all of your units are imba xD Some you hit on the ladder are just not going to GG you no matter what; if you beat the same guy a couple of times over the course of a few weeks/month/what have you, he might resent you and it somehow becomes a personal thing. SC2 is a funny thing This is actually exactly what I've noticed too lol. I used to start each game with "gl hf" and I got it back as a response, but for some reason I've stopped doing it 100% of the time this season and I've noticed that there are lots of games where neither of us say a single word.

If a pro SC2 player leaves a game without GGing and you take a look at the comments, then its always about how BM'd the player is and not actually about the match that was just played. Manners don't make you play better. I like watching matches of players because they are skilled, not because they polite. Manners don't make you play better.

Like saying thank you when someone hands you something, you don't evaluate if they deserve it... you just say it. Obviously you don't 'have' to say it but a lot of gamers will think you are BM... just like not saying thanks in RL, you dont have too but its polite.

I also stopped doing manner gg and only rarely gg if I thought it was a good game. As for the a possible explanation? I think in general, as the game is out longer everyone sort of starts to know why they lost and what they did wrong. Realizing that probably makes it harder to gg because you feel you didn't play well at all considering your mistakes are painfully obvious. So as time goes on and more people start to feel and act in this very manner, the quantity of ggs one can be expected to encounter diminishes gradually. "never gg, never surrender"

I have reservations about glhf'ing these days because I'm basically going to get 4gated. Being cheesed or cannon rushed is kind of refreshing, something different. Also I don't think anyone's really happy with the state of protoss right now. Get 6 colossi and win. Personally I GG when i feel like the other guy earned it, even if it was just doing something small which I didn't expect. It does mean good game after all. But people are rude... I had a terran spawn close positions on metal and he went CC first, but i didn't scout the cc so I assumed he was proxy rax'ing me so i went pool first, then I go to his natural and there's a cc building. (Which he started morphing to a PF) Clearly I won, but he gave me some BM about "I have a 100% winrate using this build if I get the PF up. But on close positions i should've just gone and killed you." I don't understand that, you did a stupid build which i scouted and reacted to. If he'd gone 1rax/cc it would've been a completely different game. (Told him after the game he should've built a barracks just so i didn't think he was proxying)

BUT i don't gg after every game. not by a long shot, only if it's a good game will i GG. saying gg means you respect your opponent and how they won. If i lose to choose or an opponent i obviously should have beat, i don't gg.

I especially make sure that - after raging in reallife - I "gg" in each and every game I lose to cheese...since when I cheese and get a "gg" from my opponent I always feel a little bit ashamed inside, lol.

If the other guy played terribly and I destroy him, most of the time they will not GG, which is totally cool. If we both played well and the game is lost due to a macro/micro slip-up then I'll happily GG. I also don't say GLHF at the start of every game, because no I do not wish you good luck and no I do not want you to have fun. I want you to lose, get a grip. Doesn't mean I hate you, it just means I want to win.
