Can anyone link me the original full interview in Korean? I can't confirm the part where he said that "back when I had a full schedule I still showed to for proleague" from quotes in korean.
quote? what quote?

Also in case there is confusion, by "disappointed" he meant that he was disappointed he couldn't face flash, not that he was disappointed in flash's actions.

Am I the only one who thinks that there may have been a little bit of sarcasm and jokery in Stork's original interview that was lost in translation?

Took me a while, but I found the original.

I don't see any sarcasm. There's a heavy tone of disappointment, like being bracketed against Nadal in a tennis tournament, then getting there and find out he has to practice for another major competition later that week. In that sense, Stork may just be calling out Flash's confidence just because he was so let down by losing the opportunity to play that excellent PvT.

EDIT: take with a grain of salt. I am reading off a translation, after all

EDIT: note that i'm also really bad at detecting unusually thick sarcasm... although i still doubt it's sarcastic

It's blatantly obvious that he is criticizing Flash here.

Stork wasn't being hypocritical as much as a liar (unless it was a joke, or just bad memory) since when he made that interview, he had demonstrably already at least once skipped Proleague to practice for individual games.

doesn't matter once stork wins both leagues... nye nye nye nyehe
I don't think I've ever wished my opponent good luck prior to a game. When I play, I play to win. I hope every opponent I ever have is cursed with fucking terrible luck. I hope they're stuck playing underneath a stepladder with a black cat in attendance a

Wow what's with the intense stork hate today?

Open spoilers if you want to know what was said...
+ Show Spoiler [KHAN vs FOX interview, Jan 26 2011] +
Here's a blurb from Jangbi-Grape interview:

Q: Last words?
A: Jangbi = Stork didn't show up for today's match with our team, and he's taking a lot of harsh words and criticism right now. Let me make it clear, his absense is not because he's practising for OSL; he's not here because it's Coach January's decision. Because Stork's been single-handedly carrying the team lately, Coach wanted to send us a strong message this way. It's not that Coach wants to favour Stork excessively or something. I hope people don't misunderstand and hate him for this. I'm pretty sure he was watching TV and cheering for us instead of practising.

Sure, people, speculate all you want. Jangbi and Grape trying to "shield" Stork? Perhaps, but interviews from teammates are hell lot more credible than anything here I've seen so far.

Definitely jangbi and grape defending stork. January said this before the game

삼성전자의 김가을 감독은 “송병구 선수의 개인리그 일정이 너무 많아서 팀 차원에서 배려를 해줬다”며 “현재 송병구 선수는 숙소에서 개인리그 연습 중”이라고 말했다.

basically the team allowed Stork to not show up as a favor. (배려 is so hard to translate so i'll just use something close enough)

This seems like pretty typical Stork. This isn't the first time his mouth has gotten him a lot of haters. At the same time it's gotten him a lot of fans. I started watching BW around the time Gom started up their league and I've been a big Stork fan since. Him and Firebathero don't seem to care if they look bad for the sake of a little shit talking. Being polarizing without being obnoxious makes for good personalities in any sport. And I don't find Stork obnoxious. To each their own I suppose.

Stork's quote also says 'after seeing the player who is considered the best' - seems like he's referring pretty specifically to the number one player spot (still Flash), not players in general.

Yes he referred to Flash in that particular instance and actually this is not first time Stork does this (skip Proleague) when facing multiple league challenge so it is even more funnier

whats with all the haters coming out suddenly?

stork was wrong to have said that but he was disappointed at that time that he could not play flash. KT was powerless without him and did not seem to take Samsung KHAN seriously.

seems to me like a bunch of haters here and in Korea are afraid of Stork and want to break him down with criticism before the finals.

man why the hate? Just watch good starcraft. Yeah yeah Bisu, Jaedong and Flash are better progamers, not arrogant, not hypocrite, more golds, younger, more handsome and not boring.

Why is this worth a thread? I bring you back a nice quote from Stork around this time last year.

Stork on Flash not playing in the Proleague
▲ Stork: I learned about it watching the KT players coming into the waiting room. After seeing the player that is considered the best not playing in order to practice for individual leagues in a situation where every team is concentrating on the proleague, I wondered if he was lacking a little confidence. I'm not sure if the team purposely didn't let him play or if it was requested by himself, but I was very disappointed. Back when my schedule was full, I prepared and play for both my individual and proleague games. I wanted to play him today, so I prepared my Terran matchup, so it was a bit more disappointing for me.

I really wanted to play against Flash today in one of my matchups. While you can only know the results after playing, I am confident that I am able to win. I watched in the SKT vs KT game fantasy being too happy. I thought he was being too happy since he only managed to beat flash once, and while everyone speaks as if Flash is some unbeatable opponent, I think otherwise. While Flash is a good player, he is not an unbeatable opponent. So that's why, if I am given a chance, I wanted to play Flash to win in order to show that Flash is indeed beatable. There are the 5th round games left, and if the chance is there, I definitely want to play against Flash and play a great match.

Good one, Stork. Good one.

This OP is misleading. I read the original Korean interview here: http://www.fomos.kr/board/board.php?mode=read&keyno=106476&db=interview&cate=&page=1&field=&kwrd

and Stork never said "Back when my schedule was full, I prepared and play for both my individual and proleague games." The only thing he said was that based on flash's absence ("at a time when all teams are focusing on proleague," I admit this phrase seems to have a critical nuance of flash), stork thought maybe flash was lacking confidence that he could win in the proleague. And that he was disappointed that he could not face flash.

People are making a big deal out very little. Yes he's being hypocritical but that's just how life works. Sometimes, you have to step on your own words to go for something really important to you. Most of those offended are probably just now realising that he's a human being, not a saint. I'm sure all of us here have done similar things in the past and not out of malice or ill intent. It's just one of those things in life that we can't avoid. Move on people.

well he shouldnt have said that, makes him a bit hypocrite idd, but flash hadn't potentially up 9 games in three days and proleague wasnt in 3rd round was in last one, so the situation is kinda diferent.

yet another stork-hate post by milkis, keep 'em comin' specially in next PR thread cuz he'll be n1 again!

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=123828
this is the original date
in fact flash had 2 bo5s in 2 days, so thats a potential 10 games in 2 days
nice try though!

10-05-05 khan played kt, he played on the 7th vs pure and on 13th vs free or something, the gap is bigger, see what im sayin? -.- wont discuss this furder anyway

huh? he had bo5s on the 6th and the 7th.
http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/details.php?section=korean&type=players&id=424&part=games&vs=all&league=any&map=any&from_year=2010&from_month=5&from_day=5&to_year=2010&to_month=5&to_day=8&action=Update

So, wait.

Flash skips Proleague to practice for Bo5s against MVP and Pure.

Stork skips Winner's League to practice for Bo5s against Fantasy and Zero.

Yeah, those are comparable occurrences.

Furthermore, did Stork actually not show up to Proleague during Incruit/Clubday, or was he merely not slotted for games?
My strategy is to fork people.
