Ok i have been playing since the game came out, it was my frist Strat game i have ever played since old school command and conquer.
So obvi my record was complete shit, hahah i think for every one game I won, id lose 10. Then over time i got better and better, IM mostly a 2vs2 player, I love it, and its more fun for me, i dont know why. I just enjoy the team work aspect I guess... Each to there own....
but anyways Im ranked 1st in my pool or whatever, and have been for a couple months now, i have 1800 pts.... and me and my buddy are ranked 1st as teamates as well both in the bronze division, we obviously lose some and win some, we have alot of wins, over gold, plat, and some diamond players.... But we never ever get promoted to silver? what do we honestly have to do??? Sometimes we do lose dinking around, or being intoxicatd haha im not going to lie. But for the last month or so we have been winning a heck alot more than loseing.
Anyways any info on how to get promoted would be awesome

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=142211 this thread tells you the technical aspects of ladder and how the game promotes you and matches you against opponents and whatnot
EDIT: he beat me to it, shouldnt go afk in the middle of a post
Everybody has an MMR, a matchmaking rating, which is not shown, but is what decides who you play against, like what WoW does in arena. Once your mmr breaks a certain point and levels off there, you will be promoted. if you beat a diamond then lose to a bronze the game wont know what to do with you since youre inconsistent, but if you beat 8 platinum players in a row and then lose to 2 diamond players, the game will probably put you in plat.
If you want to get better on the game, focus on building workers and supply and always making units. that will promote you to gold or plat no problem. If youre playing 2s, do an early rush every game and you'll get to gold easily.

I was in the same situation as you, took me two months to get from bronze to silver, and then a week to get from silver to gold lol. When you screw up your record earlier it makes it harder to catch up and be considered good enough to be promoted due to how the matchmaking system works. While I was in bronze 1v1 I did my placement matches for 3v3/4v4 and got plat in both. You just have to win enough games to balance out your record from when you sucked ass in the beginning. Once you start to get a winrate of 55% and higher you will be promoted in no time.

Once you stop winning matches where the opponents are favored, and don't lose much when you're favored, the system will know where to put you. It may take a while to stabilize, especially if you're inconsistent about laddering with your A-game. If you're regularly playing gold and above though, go ahead and consider yourself Gold league, it means your MMR is up there.

I got to diamond 4v4 after playing like 10 games.
Maybe there's a glitch in the system?

Yeah, I think the MMR system for team games is a bit messed up. It seems like it's almost meaningless which league a person is in.
