Introduction and a little history
In 2003 the
Brood War Clan League hosted a tournament series in cooperation with BroodWar.de's BW4Ever tournament portal: the King of Kings series.These were individual tours, which only players from BWCL clans could enter. Every team had the option to send a number of players into the competition, depending on their placement in the divisions.
Since then there has been several versions, and for the 25th anniversary of our beloved game, we are bringing it back once again for this season.
When is it?
The group stage will be played on the 20th of May, but pre/postplaying will be available.
The playoffs themselves will be held on May 27th at 19 CEST for the Little King tournament, and at May 28th 19 CEST for the King and King of Kings tournament.
How will it work?
We will have not 1, not 2, but 3 tournaments this time, divided by divisions.
For all 3 tournaments, each squad can nominate 2 players (they must have played at least once during the season) for their respective tournament.
First the King of Kings tournament for players in divisions A and B, it will consist of 4 groups of 6 players, playing in a BO1 format, the top 2 of each group then advance to face each other in the ro8 (bo3) and onwards to the Finals (Bo5)
Then the King tournament for divisions C and D, 6 groups of 5, then the top 2 of each group go to another group stage of 2 groups of 6, and the top 2 finally advance to the ro4. The groups are Bo1, ro4 bo3 and the finals bo5. This may change based on signups and because some clans dropped out during the season.
And finally the Little King for players of the Little League: 2 groups of 6, top 4 of each advance to the ro8 in a pre-made bracket. The group stages are BO1 and the ro8 and ro4 BO3, Finals BO5.
How to register?
All squad leaders should register their players in the BWCL discord and have already been pinged, the deadlin is this Wednesday May 10th 23:59 CEST so if you have not signed up yet, contact us ASAP!
Prize pool
This tournament has a prize pool and you can contribute on matcherino HERE
The prize will be distributed as follows:
- 70% for the King of Kings tournament
- 25% for the King tournament
- 5% for the Little King tournament
Maps
In order to celebrate 25 year of StarCraft, we will be using maps (or remastered version of them) from across the eras, thus our map pool is as follows:

Draw and casting
The draw will be made live by ViR{ReV} and his wife on Monday May 15th.
