Teams will play against all other teams 2 times. 5 points are given for each win, 3 extra points are given if a team wins another team twice, 2 points are substracted if a team loses another team twice. In this marines are like in melee so weak at low numbers for excample but adding up the mass then they become alot stronger. The marine have normal dmg so they do same dmg to small as big units there is ofcourse counters against marines. But vs most units marines goes from beeing killed very easy into beeing unkillable (the marines simply kill enemy units before the enemy units do dmg to marines) Knowing that you just need add few more marines or vulture or goliats or tank than youre loosing point is turned into a winning point makes terran easy to field control. they also have really great small number units like bats and medics but these are more easy to counter than adding the mass of your army.. and with Terran in this you have so many choices in choosing youre army precisely for what you need.. and then what the terran builds for push(getting the lead) is hard to counter for other races. Like Battlecruisers in a mass aswell as marines in a mass (im pretty sure you know this from playing melee) Protoss in the other hand has a few specific supportive units like DT, Dark Archon, HT, reaver corsairs arbiter(hero arbiter) and carrier, hero carrier. Knowing when to use small amounts of these with protoss makes it also very easy play as protoss. The Army is not as strong in mass as terran, mostly because of marines and tank. So in my openion protoss is not as easy to field control as terran, yet still very easy to learn to play good. Protoss units has highest hp/shield of all races. In general its the way you combine your protoss army that makes protoss strong Zerg is in my openion the hardest race too field control any options/choices they have to make are countered by the other race pretty easy. That said if you master or is beeing lucky enough to time youre moves before enemy makes or has counters for youre army than zerg strategies can become really strong. If zerg first gets infront its hard not too loose against Zerg. Zerg is the race with the biggest varoity on units.. like some units very strong vs specific units and very weak vs other specific units. Zerg has mass push like terran but its mass can suffer against other races anti mass units like tank, reaver, storm. All races have different powers, timings and choices is what make each race strong. Its not the matter of apm the same way as in melee but in this you actually needs to think fast and act fast, because each player has the option to switch out entire type of army that theyll spawn. that can only be done if you have fast apm. yet mostly you dont need switch all of youre army you only make small switches. the fast apm is especialy good for upgrading techs and add specific tech units thats needed. But ofcourse it will always be best to predict an enemy move rather than counter it.. this is where youre timings and choices really matter but luck is ofcourse also a factor. Most other DS maps dosent have this fast paced strategy build into it, which makes em unsuitable for competetative play. Theres a DS map Called Desert Strike Angel made and played more or less only on the chinese server. This is also very competative and from what ive heard they have a league in the chinese server | ||
