The show starts in 30 minutes! We'll be going over Day 1 highlight matches befuore getting into today's games. Total broadcast time should be around 10 hours so order some pizza and ranch dressing - a combo that gopes together as well as u & starcraft.

That 2nd Scan/1day game was pretty good. Glad Scan was still able to win game 2 even after the Guardians killed his natural.

I think they said he can play the qualifiers but can't play in any tournaments where he earns money. Which seems a bit pointless, so maybe he's just there for fun.

Is this Liquid`HerO? Hope he does well, love to seem him qualify.

Not sure, are we on day 2 games yet? It always seems like we spend ages watching the early games and then run out of time to show the more interesting games at the end. S'not like I'm complaining or anything (I'm super happy there's a cast at all), but I do remember this happening last time as well.

I had a lot of fun watching this cast today. Twitch chat was shite every now and then but other than that I had fun watching these qualifiers.

March 30th (KST) will be the offline qualifiers. We should see more pro-gamers during these qualifiers. I can't wait.

Wow, that's awesome. I hope all goes well. Let us hope we can see some of your games get casted during the qualifiers. Are you going to be staying at someone's house or just a hotel? I would imagine a trip to Korea and the accommodation would cost a ton.

FYI eOnzErG is one of two international people to qualify. The other is Exceed from the US.

So that would be USA + Belgium representation during the offline qualifiers.

god what an absolute monster of a qualifier. Makes me sad there's only 12 spots, there's enough talent here to fill out a full 24 slot tournament

I just tuned in. Several decent games so far. So much better than the online qualifier, though that was fun to watch for other reasons.

I like Cadenzie. It's neat to have someone who knows a lot about zerg for the zerg matchups. She's pointing out a lot of subtle things in the zerg matchups that I'd never noticed before.

How do you have a foreigner-focused stream and not stream foreigner games. Like how does that make any sense at all.

Especially considering some of the games streamed have been immensely poor quality.

Yeah... why focus on JD stomping some noob instead of the match with Eonzerg. They also didn't show Fengzi and probably won't show Terroru. There was also an American named Exceed in the qualifiers that we haven't seen yet.

Ah didn't know top 4 got auto seeds. That's good though. Personally also really excited to see forGG again, hope he can go deep into the tournament (although don't think he will )

edit: also Larva must be the one zerg that never really accomplished anything despite his huge reputation...seems he has some great games sometime, but can't play consistently on that level...

Maybe he feels his wrists aren't ok yet? It would be a pity for Flash never to play KSL, he should win one before going to the army.

Really glad to see JD qualify again, it was so fun watching him in KSL1. Too bad Flash and Calm didn't even try to qualify though :\ , and a shame that Larva didn't qualify as his ZvT is so fun to watch. It's weird seeing forGG qualify as his games I've seen in the gorush team league didn't look exceptionally promising haha.

Give em a break it's really hard to stay on and energized during a frickin 10 hour cast.

Also was this the first time cadenzie casted on a big stream? She did well for being a rookie but admittedly does need to work on her voice projection a bit I think.

Cadenzie was pretty quiet but I liked the more indepth strategy discussions that she provided especially from the Zerg perspective which we don't usually hear about.

Anyone have recommendations for good games to watch from the VODs?

I guess the casting was very polarizing but for me this was the best ksl qual session I've seen so far. So much knowledge brought to the table between Artosis and Cadenzie. Hope we can get more guest gosus to fill out the cast roster from time to time, sick stuff.

pretty happy with the qualified players except no larva or flash (and no eonzerg!!). Zero looked even better than expected, I cant wait to see him play again.

Also I dont give a shit if cadenzie was quiet, I have volume control on my computer. I always have to turn up the volume for twitch anyway. What I cant control is how much she brings to the cast, which I thought was more than any of the previous english casters in terms of both game knowledge and pro scene knowledge. She wasnt boring either, you dont have to be high energy to be entertaining. It was very refreshing to have two people who actually play the game at a decent level talking about it, rather than a dumbed down "explain like I play sc2 not bw" cast which we frequently see, or one in which artosis has to correct the other caster on their lack of knowledge constantly

It was way too hard to hear Cadenzie but had great knowledge from what I heard and is adorable so I'd love to see/hear more of her <3

Yeah the more of the broadcast I watch the more I'm liking her casting, a lot more insightful than Tasteless (no offense). Nice to have another active player casting and also nice to have zerg perspective

The most interesting games (besides Action/Jat 30min ZvZ, take that one as you will) were only interesting from one player's perspective: Zer0's series against Movie and Stork's game 2 vs Bishop, which demonstrated mastery from the winner without the loser's messing up very much.

Also count me in the pro-denzie camp. It is really nice when Artosis has an analytical equal beside him rather than a hype person.

Cadenzie was great, she just needs to get used to cast. I get people that say it was difficult to hear her, since I had a little trouble doing it on the TV, but was just fine once I put my headphones on. Her knowledge is greatly appreciated and I really hope we see more of her, I'm sure Artosis enjoyed casting with her too.

Definitely felt the same. Loved CadenZie's input on strategies and build orders.

One note: I feel bad for Larva for not qualifying. This guy has had to play ZvZ's competitively about 80% of the time in the last 2 years at least. That's very unlucky for a macro-based player like him.

Generally I also dislike the current race balance at the top. With Flash pretty much not playing anymore and Last having constant health issues, Mind being awol, we get a huge amount of Zerg's in this next season. Group distribution will be more important than ever.

Actually the only race that looks very healthy is Protoss for the upcoming months. With Bisu coming back soon and the other top4 protosses we have a super high level lineup with good diversity (great pvz-ers and pvt-ers).

How does group selection work in the KSL? Will it be a televised event like in the ASL, or will they just announce the groups?

iirc Artosis said it was a televised event, and that they would upload english subbed vods after the fact. The live event will only be in Korean.

Neat. Do you know when it is? It's always interesting seeing how each player approaches it, and when you feel a group of death assemble the hype starts early.

...
(Z)beast is the best performing amateur that day. beat rush 2-0 (impressive considering rush is one of the better performing terrans in sponbbang) but narrowly lost to action 2-3 in the final qualifying rounds. didn't know how the scoreline go but he could have made it if it was a bo3 instead? dislike the final round being bo5, drag out the qualifiers to the evenings and made amateurs far less likely to make it to KSL proper...

Apparently it has something to do with it being a Twitch exclusive.

Afreeca are probably playing him quite well to stay on their platform.

It can't be that Effort and Flash would have never played a single KSL, i hope at least the latter would reconsider his decision.

Jaedong doesn't really seem to be strong enough to win a championship recently and I'm not sure how much Last can hold on considering his wrists problem, so I'm rooting hard for the Protoss pack; Sharp eventually getting a well deserved victory would be a nice conclusion of this KSL, too.

Afaik Flash has the best deal with Afreeca that one can get when it comes to what percentage of balloon donations he is allowed to keep. Part of that deal is probably that he is not allowed to participate in something sponsored by a competitor like twitch. He did also not participate in ASL 7 due to his writsts, so it might just be that.

He's playing 5-6 hours a day against the top pros at a very high level, I doubt that his wrists are that much of an issue for him as they are for Last. Last literally cheesed at 240APM in ASL because he couldn't play properly.

This is bait of superior quality.

And IIRC Last was rocking 300+ apm for his five-game series against Sharp and Rain. And his macro definitely didn't look like it was suffering. He did have to cheese in his group, he said as much himself in his interview before the finals, but then he provided like he used to before.

That's because he realized he couldn't go further playing that way and resorted to injections to kill the pain.
His conditions are still probably more worrying than Flash's.
