I just cant understand it, why are we forced to play in 8 turn rate. Noone forces korean players to play in this sad latency... And why we have to play outdated maps, which are SUPER imbalanced nowadays?
Turn rate can be increased if both players agree

Regarding Turn Rate:8 that's set as default, but if both players agree it's possible to set an higher value. We'll update the rules on the qualifiers page.

$16,000 is a significant amount to hold a tournament, but the response to players' voices is disheartening. Somewhat disagree, the organizers are clearly just basing the map pool off of the Blizzard ladder, if players want to complain about the map pool, they should do so to Blizzard, not every tournament host that comes up. Like it or not, most (all) people hosting large events were not active in the Brood War community from 2010-2017, so it's kind of unrealistic to assume that they would come in with any other map pool than what Blizzard picked. The only thing for me is that it should not be called "Open" when there are 3 QF spots of 8, but that's a minor aesthetic.
I understand your point. It's not so far-fetched to think that they could consider adjusting the map pool.
It's not that it's unfair, its just less ideal for the bw fans who would be the most interested in this event. I.e. It's not unfair to have an event organizer to set the rules and say, we want the best players... buttttt you need to ride a unicycle while you play.
I'm just a 3rd party spectator. I'm not here to argue, but it's interesting to see how these events go. I'll watch regardless.

HsDLTitich, ilovemmy, thanks for the answers. What happens in the event a certain player decides to exploit it in his favour as a terran can easily just refuse to play on turn rate higher than 8 to gain advantage over a zerg player while turn rate 12 or 16 are completely fine for both players?

That is just too bad for zergs. Terran hwaiting!

Hope that won't be the case during the tournament and everone will play fair to preserve the tournament sportmanship, however in particular cases an admin will have the last word on it.

Italian Esports Open is a brand encompassing a number of events, not this tournament only.

Sounds more than reasonable, thanks for clarifying this.

A qualifier for North America would be cool, as it's hard to tell who the current top players in NA are. Many old players from the US and Canada have recently returned. If the flight cost isn't an issue, as one player from the US is getting invited either way, why not hold a qualifier to determine who the best player is and who should be invited?

Woah this is huge, really low # of invites it seems but this is hype.
EDIT : I would love to be the one USA player invited, I am Italian after all. lol j/k I know there are more deserving players.
