I feel that drafting hasn't really worked in a long time, since maybe DRTL2. The teams needing players just simply ask the free agents before the actual drafting starts and then the pool simply disappears before draft. This is a bit early to say considering we still have 3 weeks til start of the season, but perhaps have AtomicArchon join one of the two teams ACE/Phoenix and have the remaining free agents divided between them would make 6 strong teams. Instead of waiting on almost 2 more teams worth of free agents to join in. We could wait on it for another week or so before deciding that, but just throwing out that possibility. | ||

Unfortunately, there's also SunKan with pebble, thezansuric, and probably BaBo, and a couple others I can't remember... Hopefully they'll be willing to merge as well. AtomicArchon + Phoenix and SunKan + Airforce? But at the same time, I'm sure some of these guys want to have their own teams and just stick with their own guys... Right now, we have TAKK, Stealth Bunnies, Courage, Airforce Ace of Spades, DeSPA, SunKan, Phoenix, and NW Power... Players at the moment: DeSPA - 1 Airforce Ace of Spades - 6 Phoenix - 5 Courage - 10 Stealth Bunnies - 10 TAKK - 13 NW Power - 14 SunKan - ? (but they did they say they were signing up...) | ||

About these discussions here is my opinion: I don' t think puppykiller shoud be allowed to play (nothing personal just your rank). Offracing has been discussed and everybody i saw agrees on that. I would like very much to have Ace matches, why remove them? they are exciting and cool Another suggestion consider adding one or two BWMN maps to the map pool. About the teams, more than the number of teams, i have an opinion about the players: TAKK is full of well known regular players that play often. I think it would hurt the league that so many regular players are in one team. If you want to go the 6 way team with bigger roosters, i would consider the possibility of merging ( but want to keep the team name Sun Kan) last thing: i think you should replace the how to sign up/who can sign up with the how to watch in the OP (i mean switch them in position). and maybe add the allready signed up roosters to the OP. | ||

Did you think the drafting in DRATL was bad too? I thought I done the best I could. If you think it was bad, could you give feedback for a possible draft in a possible future DRATL 2 (tho DRTL 4 and 5 will have priority and maybe even DRTL 6)? It is hard to improve these things without any kind of feedback. Maybe LMaster will be able to improve his drafting for this DRTL too with your feedback ^_^? | ||

I don't think it was terrible, but it had it's pros/cons for being a draft in the thread. Similarly, a Skype call with the captains also has pros/cons. Drafting in the thread is visible to everyone who sees it and also doesn't force team captains to a specific time to draft, but may be slow since people don't check the thread regularly. Skype drafting is faster, can probably be done in a few mins, but you need to find some agreed upon time that fits a bunch of people's schedules, it's a bit more private and results get posted afterwards, so it's not that bad. The main problem I found with the draft is that free agents are just being picked up pre-draft, and after a week or 2 when it's actually draft time, you have basically have no free agents left to draft. There isn't any rule saying they're not allowed to be picked up pre-draft as well. This leads to some more active captains actively going out and asking free agents if they want to join their team, and then they'll post later saying roster updated etc. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because I know teams need players, and it's best if the players are actually in a team they want to be in as opposed to being randomly stuff into a team. However, some captains will think, they should just wait for the draft, and will then feel shafted when they see free agents disappearing, and they may start picking up free agents themselves too. This just leads to a not-really draft-like end, and more of a, "ok we have like 0-3 players left as free agents for a draft, lets just put them on whoever needs them more". The other option is to have new players that sign up, specifically say they want to be free agents, and implementing some rule that they're off limits til the actual draft. Any new players to the league with a specific team they want to join, could probably state that when they first post their intentions to join, or have the team captain post on their behalf when they bring out their roster. This would have a bigger draft pool, and likely reduce the likeliness of new players being picked up pre-draft and perhaps a more balanced drafting. Either way, both types of draft end up with players on the teams that need them, which is good. The bad is that captains get shafted in not being able to pick players they had an eye on because they actually waited for the draft time, while other captains just ignored draft time and picked them up. Both are fine and can be implemented, just let the captains know specifically whether or not they're allowed to just randomly pick up free agents. Note: The captains I'm referring to are those on the teams that need the players. It's already obvious the bigger teams that are already fine on their own, don't need to draft, and they probably won't anyways because they know that. | ||
