So the whole damn mess is coming to an end...
And since we have the first 4 being sent out regardless.. I wonder who the teams will open with and what you think the rosters will be and who will win and blah blah blah balh balhb albahlbahl.
I think SKT1 will open with GoRush and 2nd 1:1 will be Oov and Ace game will be Oov -_-;; I have no idea what the 2:2 teams will be like... but I think SKT1 is gonna walk over KTF cuz KTF are a buncha underachievers... in their own wierd way.

They made it to the grand final of the biggest league in Korea
They went undefeated last regular season
Two of the most recent major prize money events were won by KTF members
The most recent Starleague winner was a KTF member
KTF member won WWI
A bunch of underachievers alright.
What has an SKT1 member won anything recently? Nothing at all! The year now is 2006. The last time an SKT1 member won a major prize money tournament was 2 years ago in 2004. Since that time, three different KTF members have won major prize money tournaments in at least 4 different occasions; one KTF member won major prize money tournaments a multiple number of times. SKT1 members have won absolutely nothing. Back up what you say with facts please.
My prediction is KTF > SKT1

SKT1 will probably win.
ace game is either boxer or oov, very map dependent.
plus, KTF's ace player would likely be nal_ra, and oov's obviously superior TvP might factor in.
why not midas? lack of big game experience.

I also feel that KTF has a good shot. They have been doing a lot better lately, while SK have not been up to par in the single leagues (arguably because they have been focusing on the proleague). I say about 50-50.

Nal_Ra is in very good shape in the moment. I think he will win either oov or boxer in pvt, unless he make lots of shitty mistakes like he sometimes does. =) And KTF deserves the victory.

My prediction is KTF > SKT1 Didn't GoRush win the MBC You are The Golfking starleague in early 2005? Or was that late 2004 too?

When Gorush won MSL, he was not part of the SKT1 team. He was still in GO at that time.
|
8 of 16 people in the last mbc were from SKT1.
Ktf person won 2 major events. Events with 8 people: 4 doomed amateurs (compared to koreans competetors), slumping Nada, and 3 ktf members... true major events, haha.
whatsoever, sktt is going to win

The whole KTF team is doing great lately. rA is in good shape, Chojja won msl and made it into starleague, Reach is always good in proleague so is YellOw for 2v2. The key factor are 2v2 games, and who has upper hand here it is hard to tell. I think KTF should put in 1st 1v1 ChoJJa, then Ra, GF, and for ace game Reach. I think they should use Ra more in 2v2. Ra/YellOw was a killer. Now when they have GF they will win ^_^. I really think GF will be big help for KTF, now and in future.
On the other hand t1 is full of t monsters. I do not want to comment that. I wish best of luck to KTF.

It doesn't matter much how many SKT1 members qualified. What matters is how many actually won, which is 0 since 2004. The fact that a KTF member managed to overcome the odds and win a starleague even though half the qualified players are from SKT1 further legitimizes my point.
Since the time oov won a starleague, there has been a total of 9 major money tournaments held.
The result? 4 out of those 9 major money tournaments were won by a KTF member - that's almost half. None were won by a SKT1 member. KTF players definitely do not underachieve, if not outperform SKT1.
Though I would not be surprised to see SKT1 wins. It's really a tossup here but I do predict KTF taking it.

He's wrong anyway, it's not 8 of 16 of the last, but of the UPCOMING msl.
If Goodfriend was still banned for the grand final playoffs/grand final I'd say "easy" win for SKT, because other than him they really need a Terran who can finish off dangerous opponents and the other KTF Terrans well... suck (don't tell me about Sync killing Oversky in Proleague vs GO or anything, Oversky blows. TheMarine and Sync have been sub par -by progaming standards- for an eternity now). But unlike during the second round he can now play, which puts KTF in a MUCH better position than before.
My money is still on SKT 1 though, partially because I like them more, but not solely due to that.

Counting from early 2005
IOPS OSL: Nada, July Gorush(SKT1) YTGK MSL: GoRush(SKT1), Nada, Xellos KT-KTF: July, GoRush(SKT1), Nada EVER2 OSL: July, GoodFriend(KTF), Xellos Snickers allstar: Yellow(KTF), Nada, Nal_Ra(KTF) Uzoo MSL: IPXZerg, Reach(KTF), Chojja(KTF) So1 OSL: Anytime, Boxer(SKT1), Oov(SKT1) Cyon MSL: Chojja(KTF), IPXZerg, Oov(SKT1)
SKT1 1st: 1 , 2nd: 2, 3rd: 3 KTF: 1st: 2, 2nd 2, 3rd: 2
Pretty close I'd say. If you remove the Snickers Allstar since Oov(arguably SKT1s best player) wasnt even invited in that, KTF stands with 1 1st, 2 2nd and 1 3rd place finish in the major tournaments last year. Not to mention SKT1 having raped KTF in all their meetings last year iirc.
Im not counting events like CKCG, WEF, Blizzcon, WCG, BWWI for obvious reasons. Oov won CKCG 2-1 vs Nada in final though.
And I count Gorush as SKT1 member even though he was in GO back then, and GF as a KTF member even though he was a Pantech member when July won him in EVER2. Their individual accomplishments doesnt belong to the team they're playing for but themselves imo, and since we judge the team players individual performances, Gorush/GF should be listed with those accomplishments regardless of what team they were playing at back then.
Im a KTF fan but I think SKT1 has been performing better lately, especially in the proleagues, but also in individual leagues. 8 SKT1 members qualified for the upcoming MSL is pretty damn impressing.
Oh, and I hope KTF wins but THINK SKT1 wins

wtf i want KTF to win......

I counted IOPS OSL, YTGK MSL, EVER2 OSL, Snickers allstar, Uzoo MSL, So1 OSL, Cyon MSL, Blizzcon, BWWI, and WCG. They're all important tournaments with high caliber players in them and big prize money pools. I did forgot KT-KTF however. Still, SKT1 didn't win KT-KTF or even got close to winning it. 4 out of 10 tournaments won by KTF is still impressive. Whether Blizzcon and BWWI are legitimate contenders are debatable, but both of those tournaments had a big prize pool. However, WCG should definitely count. Winning WCG is harder than winning a Starleague.
And you really can't count a SKT1 member winning anything when Gorush won MSL. Are you saying that a member of GO didn't win YTGK MSL? Likewise, if Goodfriend achieved anything, imo it should only count when he achieves it as a KTF member. Before he was a KTF member, any of his achievements go to the honor of Pantech & Curitel. At the time Gorush won MSL, he was sponsored by GO. The GO team paid him, trained him, he won MSL and made big advertising revenues for the GO team. Him winning MSL at that time had no effects on SKT1 at the time.
So in my conclusion no SKT1 members won anything since oov won a starleague.
Oh and also:

No point in mentioning WCG since no SKT1 nor KTF member played in it. Also Blizzcon and BWWI no SKT1 members were invited.
I disagree. Gorush plays for SKT1 now and his accomplishments are his own. Same goes for GF. Their individual accomplishments belong to neither SKT1 nor GO/Pantech. GO can of course say they had a player that won MSL etc, but that doesnt matter as he's not playing for them NOW. Using your logic a player doesnt accomplish anything on his own, but the team the player plays for accomplish it.
So Gorushs and Midas' accomplishments pre joining SKT1 is nullified ? SKT1 can only mention accomplishments made AFTER joining their team for that player ? Of course they're going to write "We just got a player that won MSL".
Oh KTF has beaten SKT1 once last year, however Im 100% the vast majorities of their matches have ended in SKT1s favour so the point still stands.
|
That's not what I'm saying.
Yes, his accomplishments are his own. I'm not saying the accomplishments belong to the team and not the player.
Gorush did win YTGK MSL, that's his own individual accomplishment, I'm not denying that.
But I'm saying a SKT1 player did not win YTGK MSL, a GO player did. GO was responsible for training him, not SKT1. GO was the team that benefited from his win.
His accomplishments when he was a GO player really stands out. As an SKT1 player, Gorush hasn't done anything much. Same goes with Midas. That's not to say that he isn't a good player. I think both Gorush and Midas are monsters.

Winning WCG is NOT harder than winning a starleague, not by a long shot -.- You are, no doubt, referring to the hard as hell qualification process, but it's not like it's easy making it into a starleague either, and once you are in it.. There's no way WCG is harder.
|
I agree that GO was responsible for training him and they benefitted etc. But that doesnt change the fact that SKT1 has a player that won MSL, and talking about the accomplishments of players on SKT1 you sure as hell wont ignore that fact just because he won MSL as a GO player.

Do you agree that winning the Korean preliminary is just as hard as winning a Starleague?
You probably don't because the entire preliminary is finished within days instead of months. When things take longer to finish, you tend to think it's harder. Not only that, Starleagues are marketed more.
The Korean preliminary consists of every top Korean name you can think of. Every pro gamer from the top down participates in last year's WCG, just like every pro gamer from the top down participates in Starleagues. So winning the preliminary requires you to beat everybody just like winning a Starleague. There's little difference, besides the fact that one tournament spans out for months while the other takes days to finish.
But then, winning preliminary is only the first part. Then, you got to go and win the entire WCG by competing with the rest of the players in the world. Winning a tournament that has every Starleague-caliber players in them is hard enough; going on to win a tournament that has every top players in the world makes it harder than winning a Starleague.

I dont agree with this part because I think Starleague-caliber players > every top players in the world(excluding the obvious players in korea).
