Lightwip, I never expected to say this, but I fucking love you.
i'm confused, are you being serious? savior got golds when nada / iloveoov were around and had 90%~+ win rate against zerg.
He is serious. My goodness, I love the game and the scene, and the guy's got a point. Can't we just agree to disagree on this one?
I will just link to a far superior article to explain why savior was THE bonjwa, no one even called boxer or iloveoov by that name till savior coined it. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=226236 Srsly, 12 ZvT series wins in a row against ridiculously hard opponents, probably the hardest roster BW has EVER seen (boxer, midas, nada, iloveoov, hwasin), 12-0, no one has beat that yet. 6 finals in a row. 75% win rate on longinus 2 and reverse temple (while other zergs had 25%). Go win ONE game on longinus 2 / reverse temple as zerg against terran then come and tell me savior doesn't have achievements.
Man that article is so good. Anyone knows if Ver is working on the second part?
It's in the pipe
Glad to hear it.. I've been fearing that Ver disappeared. As I hear Ver also had a Flash FE in the works too.
Too bad set 3 ended so abrupt. It was sad to see Flash get academy way before Fantasy, then reveal his wraiths and end up not having comsats at all while Fantasy countered with both the advantage of surprise and had comsats. Flash utterly failed at predicting Fantasy's strategy in that game.
So sad that Flash isn't going to win the last OSL. Now I'm torn as to who to cheer for in the finals... the last OSL. As someone who joined the scene in 2010 with SC2, it's a bit weird, but I'm emotionally attached to the idea of the last major BW tournament going out the door... it's sad. The progenitor to the game that I follow religiously is professionally obsolete, and that's sad.
Good games, well played, looking forward to seeing great, quality professional BW for one last time.

A general rule of thumb in Starcraft is to always keep your resources below 400, but that isn't always true. I remember once when Jaedong went pure zergling/mutalisk against Light all the way until the late game and stock piled a ridiculous 3k minerlas and gas. 3k! Many thought his macro was just seriously off that game, but Jaedong's strat was actually obvious: he was saving up for ultralisks, and it worked out. He tried this strategy again during a later encounter against Flash but didn't even manage to get his ultralisk caverns up. Some people insisted he played badly and his macro was terrible when it actually wasn't. He was just going for a specific and risky strategy.
That game against Light was a thing of beauty. Jaedong was down 50-60 supply for a good 5-10 minutes, but always seemed in control, and then after defending everything for a good ten minutes, he just rolled him with an unbelievable army out of nowhere.
which game? Link please?
I actually stand corrected on a few things: Jaedong stockpiled 2k-ish gas and minerals, not 3k. He also used lurkers and defilers to help defend, but he was indeed down by at least 50-60 supply at one point. Beautiful game!

I don't know why there is such a long gap, but the finals aren't until the 4th.

yeah, umm. That's ZvT where units are limited largely by larvae. And lings cost ~10% of an ultra. So zergs have this option. See crazyhydra vs Ssak as well.
In TvT, i believe Fantasy just focused so much on his micro. That, and the fact that in TvT, you tend to have 3 secure bases and the others were much more vulnerable. Fantasy was clearly trying to punish flash for taking a 4th and 5th, therefore, slackening in the defense of his own 4th and 5th. If he were to lose these bases, extra factories to keep his resources down would stop producing units and the factories themselves would be a waste.

it was going to be tonight (iirc) but they moved to a different, larger venue so they moved it to the 4th
