From Boxer's daum cafe fansite, Lim Yo-hwan's Dropship~ (note: thanks for instantbunz' post in the iloveOOvinterview thread here for motivating me to do this)
----
I have only just returned back to Seoul after the final and the afterparty. Because I have a game today I didn't drink alcohol but still for some reason my mind is a little dizzy...
In looking forward to the Ever SL finals, there was alot of psychological battle between me and Choi, Yun-sung (OOv)... We both know the TvT game and so we both looked for solutions to this matchup, knowing what we both know. [OOv's] solution was to shift his tech first, expand quickly and safely, and then outproduce cloaking wraiths. I chose cloaking wraiths and then after confirming my opponent's tech, to respond appropriately. With regard to this first puzzle I think I was more successful in my answer.
But I still lost... why did I lose...
I didn't stay as nervous and alert as I should have but during the game I wasn't able to concentrate well... it was chaotic. In sum, when I look at my own play I cannot be satisfied at all...
After the 5th game was over I couldn't bear to stand in front of people. How long did I wait for this final... and I thought that the gamers who practiced with me must be looking at me and be looking down on me. I was so embarrassed in front of the other gamers in the Starleague... my parents who had prayed for me so sincerely... and to you fans who had cheered for me...
Although I was able to congratulate [OOv], I couldn't control those other thoughts and I made an embarrassing scene... I made a scene that may have made even my congratulations to [OOv] seem like a lie... And I made it so that the joy of victory could not help but be stunted during the award ceremony... I felt that I am such a bad sunbae [sunbae = senior]... and I'm regretting it.
In the future I won't show this kind of image.
Runner up... in the past I would not have thought this way... but if I think now... runner up is also a great achievement. Although I wasn't in the end able to win, I think I showed my best efforts in every game.
Today, in the afterparty, many people came and consoled and congratulated me. Before I went to the afterparty I really had not an ounce of strength and I had nothing to say whatsoever... Going to the afterparty was always difficult for me in the past... but after going to the afterparty I felt stronger I think for the first time ever... It wasn't difficult all the way through and my mouth which had been closed was opened again... I thought to myself that I must again run foward... If I keep running like that then someday I will be able to fly again...
While I have the will... and while there are people who support me... victory will continue...
P.S. I want to again congratulate [OOv] for his victory. Also, everyone who came to cheer for me, must have been through alot to come. Thank you very much.

thx man, i shed a tear for boxer.
he did well for a oldie
Nice, does this mean he ain`t going to the army? Sound`s like he is really focused on sticking to playing broodwar.
What scene did he make?
Nevermind, read the oov interview.
boxer is the greatest ever
thx uhjoo, very well by Boxer. And it`s cool that he really wants to win more
I dare uhjoo to make a bad post.

Great statement. Boxer is a real winner.
I think Boxer could win this as he said it was a psychological game and I think he has better experience in LAN partys so he could win..I wish him to be a winner of next OGN.

Awww :D They're all so mannered, incredible.
Anyone, who ever calls Boxer bm again...
I really hope he wins next StarLeague

Now that's poetry from the master.

Uhjoo is really on fire! Thanks so much for all the hard work translating all this!
And yeah, the amount of class these guys are showing through these games is just insane. I know lots of people who I tell about pro gaming who really look down on it, always saying "they're not really athletes, they just play a game". But damn, I'd much rather have kids looking up to competitors like this than the shallow, macho, BM 'real athletes' from big time US sports...
Can't wait to see the rematches next league!
Boxer is THE MAN!! Is there any possibility to write him an e-mail ? Some cheers?

Thanks for translating :O!!!!
So awesome~

Artest and O'Neal throw punches at fans... Boxer and Yellow apologise for not winning... who're the true professionals again?
wasnt it his last osl season ? i think he now had to go to army ..
I feel bad and happy for boxer at the same time! thx uhjoo
good, thx i really needed this
Geez, Oov and Boxer are just earning more and more of my respect.
Lim is so nice guy. He did incredible thing, he was able to back to great shape and show again how good he is. Second place in such a big Tournament like OGN is is hard to get. Lots of great players dreams about OGN final like: Reach, NaDa, Yellow, ChoJJa, GoRush etc. etc...
For me he didn't lose ! He shows again that: Boxer is master and guru of SC BW.
how come koreans are always so moddest? Who are the korean pro's with ego++ ? I mean like the top gamers from europe have like a massive ego.
Lim Yo-Hwan, you are a true champion!
And with these games you showed us once again that Starcraft has no limits for you. I wish you all the best in the future!

iirc, he bought himself 2 more years, no 1. So 1 remaining, I think...

I'm not really sure how it was but originally he had to go to the army now, but he found some loophole (something related to studying yeah :D) which gave him 2 more years.
Now, 2 more years + the 1 year or 2 more years total?
Can any of the koreans here confirm or deny FAs info?
Oov and BoxeR both are really mannered and succesfull. I think that they meet again in some other final.
I think you are right Arbiter. It gives him 1 more year only if i'm correct. Someone said some time ago about it. I don't really remember who and when, but the topic was similar... about BoxeR's retirement and goind to army. Maybe i'm mistaken.
For sure we will se Boxer in 2005 It is always 1 more year and many tournaments with him
i love these interviews, gives my heart back to broodwar again in a way its hard to describe
I was amazed to see Boxer still attaches so much emotion and passion to this game. he's already won two osl titles. besides it's not the first or second time he ever lost in the final. I guess Boxer put so much heart into this Ever league becoz it's truely a gathering of the titans. The winner of this league is holding the weightiest osl title ever. But anyway boxer showed he still has alot of steam and creativity but maybe he needs to work harder instead of cramming so much.
waitaminute, just because boxer has to go to the army next year doesn't mean he might not come back to starcraft afterward. sure, he'll be 26, spent two years of not playing sc, but if anyone, boxer can make a comeback. who knows, maybe two years in the military will help his sc.

I think we've all seen articles about the US army using starcraft for some team trainings, maybe he'll introduce that to Korea :p

Good sport. Still an achievement to have made it that high, and it must be nice knowing that his student even managed to top him.

Boxer was dissatisfied with his own play? Holy shit, he was friggin awesome against oov. Either he's overestimating himself, or his TvT has become the best in the world.
If their manager didn't lie he won 6 out of 10 during his practice with oov recently. Plus if you lost you got to be dissatisfied with your own play, otherwise whats the motivation to get better?

And I second the statement made about the sheer class he and oov demonstrated. This had to be the biggest blow of his life, and instead of pointing fingers, he not only congratulates oov but apologizes to his fans? Can you imagine any pro. sports players in the U.S. or Europe who'd do that?
those pro ppl , are not a young man leaving his dream , maybe some of them but they r just to good for the rest of the ppl, that thing doesn't happen in the oriental culture

Yeah now that I think about it, this probably is one of the bigger disappointments in his life. However, losing to Yellow in a starleague finals would probably be the biggest ^^
Haha, joking of course. They respect each other very much. I'm sure Boxer would be completely content and happy for Yellow.
ahh i wanna watch the vods

Similar response to YellOw Such a great person, Boxer is. Thanks for translation uhjoo.

great thanks to uhjoo for neat translation. well, i'm thinking another TvZ OSL final for Lim, kaka...whether he could get one more champion title or not before his retirement, he has gained my support and love since four years ago.
Poor guy, I feel for him. If he won this one, it would be a faerytale final.
All of a sudden the term "manner" now mean a lot more than it used to. Thanks to the Korean who translated these awesome interview. I'm no longer questioning the importance of "manner" in relation to SC.
I love Boxer ^^ Always & 4ver
no comments about game 3? =((
WoW nice. I didnt think he could write such thing :>
nice talk, oov really deserved this talk, his victory party was not 100%, coz that scene at the finishing cerymone. gg boxer, and better luck now ahead. he dont even need of luck, but ok....
Boxer won in my eyes =) He's the best Progamer ever ^^; I liked Game 4 a lot too..
U'r always the best!
Boxer is still my emperor ^.^
Yes boxer is god. He doesnt whine like Yellow and admits how horrible he feels and that he "made a scene". But still congratulates OOv. GG
Boxer is very well mannered, i like him for his style, and this words from him tells that he is a real pure gosu, even that he loses some times. He made a great job to claim not once to the finals. TvT is very a difficult mu in OOv was better...GOGO! Boxer don't give up! PS sorry for bad english ;p

You're like one of those WW1 generals... "We lost 45000 men in an hour but we gained 3 metres of mud and the respect of the public (cos we lied to them about the losses and ground gained). That's a victory in our eyes!"

scene? what scene? however boxer is noble, like all the time. i, and not only me, like him so much for this
yes i mean he is "boxer" so
This is pretty impressive considering how popular he is. Usually people in his situation wouldn't do such a thing, stand up of him.
Boxer in a TvZ OSL final is his wet dream.
Let Z=Yellow, and let Yellow 4/5/6/9 pool 3 times in a row and see what happens.
hahaha
damn I want Boxer to go to army now! I cannot quit SC and focus on my study with him still around. aha another great post uhjoo
