Things were looking really bad for our StarCraft devision a while ago. Our organisation didn't have money to sponsor SC tickets. Ret, Strafe, Twisted (me as well) all stated that they preferred paying their own ticket in case of qualification (expecting if any; only the number 1 would be able to go to San Fransisco) over not having WCG at all.
Anyway, our WCG host (props to him he really tried to do his best for the gamers) worked with this and now Netherlands has got a total of 4 (!!!) reservated spots in SF. There is a possibility of the first spot being sponsored, but if that turns out to be a failure, it would mean the numbers 1,2,3,4 of our WCG will be able to go to SF given that they will pay their own ticket.

so 1 price and 3 pay their own flight if they want to go ;o well will be a nice fight for the #1 spot since there is no 2nd price  pure battle and no lame finals where ppl random

ya u can see it as an investment in bw, it's very cool to meet all those people and stuff and i think it's easily worth the money -.- besides most of us won't be paying this cash ourselves, we can try to get personal sponsors or parents will help pay etc.
not that it matters for me since im taking #1 anyways

Nazgul sorry for asking but I am very interested in what you said about not every country having 4 spots at any game... are you only talking about the overall limit of players (25 or whatever) being a problem or is there something else? Cause we're trying to have more war3 and sc players too but we don't have a 100% answer yet

Well I am not sure, but here in Slovakia #1 sponsored, 2-4 can pay for their ticket and I got the feeling any country could do this, so Naz plz take the time and explain. Thx

As long as the country's organisation decides to use 4 of their spots (Netherlands has 15 spots to divide iirc) for BW, they can use them for BW.
And since we had spots left anyway, our organiser reserved 4 bw seats after we told them we would be willing to pay for our tickets.

the maximum for BW is 4 people, but there is a deadline before which each national qualifier has to state how many people they will send. that deadline is about now.
countries with qualifiers after this date do not know how many people would pay their own trip given the chance so they cannot state how many people they want to send on top of the sponsored tickets. thus countries with sponsors for 2 tickets with late qualifiers are not able to send more players after the results are in.

sometimes they're willing to make exceptions and change the amount of people for a country, but the general rule is you have to state your amount of players before a certain deadline.
so if a country has it's qualifiers before this date (and thus knows its top 4 already) they can check who would want to pay for his own trip. let's say they have a ticket for the #1, numbers 2 and 3 want to pay --> they tell Korea to reserve 3 spots. but if their tournament is after the date they can only guarantee 1 player to Korea

Im working with the same thing for Sweden, Norway and Finland. The Nordic administrators said they wanted to send only one person but I contacted ICM and they're going to speak to them, hehe, breaking the command-chain a bit =o
I was also offered to work as a referee at the main final so perhaps I'm going there aswell, making coverage for StarcraftGamers and judging finals and stuff. They're checking whether it's okay though, I'm not 18 yet so..
Would be heaps of fun!

There's a maximum of 26 spots(players) per country, read the WCG website. CS:CZ occupies 5 players so 21. Then there are 7 games left for those 21 spots to get divided upon, if the country chooses to send that many.

Hmm, tijdens die periode kan ik misschien ook wel vrij krijgen. Niet dat ik een grote kans heb maar met non stop spelen kan ik het altijd proberen natuurlijk. En aangezien er toch zoveel mensen vanuit Nederland gaan is het wellicht een keer de moeite waard en dat geld boeit geen flikker. Als je op vakantie gaat kost het altijd geld.

the scary part is, when I had french essays back in highschool I would occasionally just write the essay in english and use babelfish and then manually add some mistakes to make it more believable
and those essays got much better grades than the ones I did on my own
