WCG USA will be bringing machines to this LAN event in Beachwood, Ohio to hold a qualifier. You have to register for the LAN event, which includes paying $10 entrance fee, as well as register on the WCG USA website, which is $35. Aparently ESPN will be at this event. I'm sure they're looking forward to filming 10 gamers winning tournaments by default again.

Dayton LanFest
Similar deal. WCG USA will hold qualifier tournaments at this LAN party in Dayton, Ohio. Registration for this one is $20, and again, you also have to register at the WCG USA website, which is $35. This LAN Party has a FAQ page that lists the prizes that WCG USA will be giving away to competitors. I believe these prizes apply to all of the qualifiers, because they all mention that there will be $50,000+ in prizes givin away. The amount of prizes givin away is dependent on the number of participants in the qualifier though. The FAQ explains this: http://www.daytonlanfest.com/wcgfaq.php

Massive LAN
Another LAN event where WCG will be holding a qualifier. This one is outside of Buffalo, NY. Registration is $25 if paid before June 23rd, $30 after that or at the door. Again, you also have to register at the WCG USA website, which is $35.
*edit* Apparently you only have to pay the Massive LAN registration fee if you want to take part in the BYOC.

I think I understand what's going on now. I mean, everbody agrees that this situation is rediculous. It doesn't make any sense that the UCGA seems to be sabatoging their own events by not promoting them. I think some people over at the UCGA sat down when planning this and asked themselves, what's the best way to field the best team we possibly can for the USA's WCG team?
The answer they came up with, was that they would search around for large LAN events. There must be good video game players at LAN events right? Then we'll bring a bunch of machines to these events, and have the people there compete for a spot on WCG USA! It'll be great! I don't think they realize how big WCG is. They don't understand that they could have just said, "Come qualify on this date at this place," and they would have all the best gamers in the country bustin ass to be there. It seems obvious to us, but these are not gamers. They are marketing execs.
I can't believe how much time it took me to dig up this tiny amount of information. The UCGA are a bunch of bitches.
