This is my first post so bare with me, I am not new to starcraft.
I am considering the possibility I am wrong, and this trick is only applicable to SCVs since Probes have extra range.
Basically, the micro involves the drone running away, scv attempt to aggress, the drone stops, when the SCV is in range the drone spins around and attacks once, then runs away without sustaining damage, repeat.
I think I understand the crude method of doing this however would like to see if any constructive feedback exists.
The crude method is simply, run, when scv comes in range, attack it, then run quickly.
Example of learning a better method was muta versus scourge micro. Thanks to any help in advance.
If this explanation is still not clear I will try to find a replay/clip with it later, but it's not that common since it is not very practical.
------------------------ HERE IS THE SOLUTION: Drone vs SCV map I modified (tehAscender): + Show Spoiler +
Method: Move away, with your drone by by a very small distance, attack click scv, repeat. Moving in alternate diagonal directions i feel is also helpful, (ie up left, up right, upleft etc.) See replay for more details
Lets turn this into a challenge? How many people can do it? Upload your replay: + Show Spoiler +
I don't fully see how your comment is helpful. I have clearly seen this tactic in use at the pro scene, but visual compared to method can be very different.
If someone had a link to an FPVOD with this tactic in action that could be helpful. None come to mind as of right now.
I've asked one of the best zergs in China how he does this. He's this zerg http://sc.gosugamers.net/replays/10321, as you can see in the replay he does the drone micro thing and does it very well. But all he says is he uses attack move then back then attack move again. It's just a micro thing you have to practice a lot, no real trick to it.
Terranmetal: Don't worry, I'll practice it enough to make sure it won't effect my macro at home what-so-ever. Odds are anyone that has the skill to do this, will be able to operate one base effectively.

Wrong. Epic fail.
It could be true if he's a newbie. And he probably is. So.... right :O! But good players can certainly do some intense harrass without a hiccup in their build.
That should have a link to dl it. The map is under "micro problems" or something like that and is called probe-scv micro. But it is in that thread =p if you don't want to dl all those maps.
To actually do it, move around the scv in a circle. The probe has a greater acceleration than the scv, so when the scv is turning, you should attack with range (attack-move [a + click] away from you), then circle again and do it again. I do it about 4 times per revolution but that's just me and I'm a noob =p.
I think I heard it from "뒷담화" it's almost like the muta micro, like how you would click one spot to gather and face same direction then click again to attack marines. Julyzerg shows this a lot in VODs. There was this game against a terran in R-point where he chased the SCV to his ramp getting it down to 5 hp.

I actually get really intimidated because I know the only players that can pull this off with consistently are those who are actually pretty good, and I end up always being right and getting raped.
The probe/drone micro only works if you leave the scv unattended, so to totally screw him over just control your scv a bit to chase after the worker. Same thing if their trying to damage your scv thats building your rax.

Well if you're chasing with an SCV can't you just keep right clicking past the drone and then a-click on the Drone and then right click past it again so the SCV will zap the Drone while it's moving?
Only thing I can think of, probably won't work if the Z/P player is good enough with this since Probes/Drones have range
Sorry for bumping, I just found this map really neat and wanted to give it some more time in top 5.
I have been playing it like 10 minutes for the last few evenings and I can make it like 90% now. Offline of course...
I found it easiest to use move-stop. Move away, press "s" almost immidiately to make the drone stop just out of scv range, right click scv, repeat. Convenient if your mouse is not so fast imo.
I can do this pretty well on bnet now after some practice. I've tried this in a game, and it's sort of hard sometimes unless the opponent just leaves the scv for you to micro and doesn't pay attention to it. Usually, the opponent will be able to switch out for a fresh scv and I sometimes end up sacrificing my probe to kill that low hp scv mining in the minerals, but I don't think it is worth it because you lose scouting and a probe and he loses only his scv. I think it is a better way to try to kill his barrack (or other building) scv while avoiding the one chasing you, but lower-level players (including myself) have better things to do with that probe and with the time used to micro the probe that might not score any scv kills anyways. Everytime I start micro'ing the probe, it becomes painfully obvious to my opponent, and he remembers to switch out the scv early because he sees that I can possibly kill it.
You're absolutely right, but this technique is more for show than practical.
On the other hand, getting a drone/probe worker kill with 5 people watching isn't bad for one's ego and demoralization of the opponent. Sometimes, weakening the worker can lead to a kill later at the mineral line, or at least mess up your opponents timing.
Mind games.
By the way, for those of you that doubt. I demonstrate this tactic can be done against the average player:
Just as a point of interest, I was practicing this on USwest low latency, and I decided to see how hold position works for this type of micro. I added an overlord onto the ums and grouped it with the drone in order to give it the hold command, and proceeded to outmicro the scv.
A general click timing that I established was : clickclickH-clickclickH-clickclickH, the clicks being right clicks away from the SCV i'm attacking.
This seems feasible in a real game, although at the point in the game where killing an scv with a drone could be deemed to be useful (ie. early game), you only have 1/2 overlords available to hold with; using one of them might detract a bit from your scouting
It does seem a bit easier to do with hold though. Just my two cents. If anyone wants me to upload a rep using hold I will.
I tried "s" and it worked better than attack clicking. Just get close to the scv, attack, move a little bit, hit "s", and the drone will stop and spin around and attack the scv, repeat.

:D I was able to do it with 30 HP left :D
I tried this method at first, but I found that half the time the drone would stop moving, not do anything, and when the SCV attacked it just run away using stupid worker AI
I seem to have an unhealthy fascination with this :p Dr.Kill-Joy, and any others who are having trouble using hold, I made this shabby FPVOD of me doing it on Extra High Latency. Flame as necessary

Yeah, this started happening to me too. I started moving and hitting "a" and clicking behind the drone (like when you micro goons, move back, attack-move anywhere(usually in the same direction), move back again) and repeat) and it worked better :D
I played on ICCup and used this method with probes on SCVs and one guy left cause I killed his SCV in this way.
