They're very VERY good harrassment tool at the very begining of the game. Going 2 port wraith is good because you'll put pressure on the zerg really quickly by killing ovies. You can research cloak to kill undefended ovies and reck havoc. Zerg response to wraiths will be 99% of the time mutas, which you can fight with your cloaked wraiths. A follow-up i use for 2 port wraith is drop in main with 8 rines/ 7rines 1 med with stim to kill tech building (spire/pool/den) or if zerg made any spore colony. If zerg went hydralurk, he wont probably leave more than 4 hydra per base to defend, and if you have like 10 wraiths micro them and take out all hydras, then ovies, cloak and kill. Also if he has researched speed ovie, if he sends his hydra mass after your wraiths, simply move to his expo and due to the terrain you'll be harrassing a lot. I love them also because they usually piss zerg off. | ||

Some T's also use them late game for defiler killing and scourge luring vs pure lurk/ling/scourge(/filer) mixes. I wouldnt advise on using them in direct battles | ||

and it does work okay on other maps if you use them well, etc.. harass but if the Z plays well and defends against ur wraiths, he would be at an advantage because he owuld probably have better economy and it's going to take a lil bit for you to switch back to mnm,, good thing is you already have the starports for vessels, BUT, you're going to be a little low on gas.. i would say unless you're exceptionally good at multitasking and harrassing, just go w/ other safer TvZ builds | ||

Both same positions, same map and terran's both go wraiths except boxer loses and oov wins. | ||

Terrans that rush Wraith usually block their entrance so we zerg cant scout them. When I saw that, I went on my guard and built some spore in my expo and main, and went lurker/ling/hydra and beat him after he tried to use the wraiths to stop my lurks from owning his base. (I got them in because he moved out to expo, lifting his ramp block, and that's when I moved in.) So I think it's okay as just an early harassment tool vs zerg.. but not 100% reliable. I think it could also be good just to scout for expos that zerg will have. | ||

thing is zerg gets ensnare and it's gg -_-; not only can zerg then see you but you're also slow as fuck.. dont get me wrong.. im sure progamers could make full use of wraiths to a game-winning extent but i can't see it being half as solid as the typical mnm/tank/vess they are fun though, and isn't that wat gaming is about? do what you like ^_^ | ||

The price of a wraith is similar to a tank, and having 6 tanks instead of six wraith is a lot more safe way to go | ||

 Usually I would just do it when the terrain fits it like if I can block at 9 on LT or just certain maps its good for like Raid Assault, etc etc. Oh also if you want to see a cool replay for going wraith after you expand or something and u have a replay converter, I'd suggest downloading an old replay of iloveoov(@3) vs ZerG[MGW] (@9) on LT. I think its ZerG[MGW] but he goes 4 hatch ling lurker and iloveoov goes wraith to punish him a bit. Wraith is pretty good vs defiler. Alot of people used to do it awhile ago. | ||

The transition period between wraiths and standard play can be really hard, wraiths have very poor defensive value so it will be hard to take the expo without getting tanks/bunker and the same force that's threating to attack you can secure 2 more expoes for the zerg. So you need to do damage to the zerg early on. Most Z should probably work on their spore placment, there's no need to fast counter wraiths or try to kill them, simply denying any chance to do damage and your in great shape. | ||

Any other map without an expo cliff decreases the power of wraiths because the zerg can go hydras with no worries about getting drop first. | ||

I dislike facing lategame wraith against my scourge queen defiler ling ultra, although it depends. if I have enough gas for lots of ultras it's fine, cause the wraiths will only be dealing 2 damage a hit to them. but if I'm low on gas then wraiths are a fucking bitch. | ||

This is coincidence maybe but today I just vsed someone who went 2 port wraiths. I went 3 hatch and didn't expect it but he kept blocking my gas which pissed me off so I switched to 3 hatch ling burrow/speed upgrade. It turns out that he didn't block his base and I got in with around 36 lings in his base when he was 2 porting and I basically destroyed him even with his vulture micro. Also I had switched to hydras. | ||
