probably because it would be easier to fake tech, manner pylon, gas rush, and stuff the penalty would be even smaller if they decided against it (time mostly instead of losing cash too) | ||

hmm. i see vods and i see announcers saying in korean that they should cancel the building but when it dies they make a big deal out of it. why is that? is it because you lose a drone if you die as a building for zerg? what do you get back if your building is building but is destroyed. | ||

No, it's cos if you're making a hatch and it's destroyed then you lose the hatch and you DON'T get your money back. Always cancel buildings. Sometimes players will choose to cancel thier buildings really late to force the opponent to attack them for ages, buying time. This is even more effective ZvP islands where protoss hits a morphing hatch with reavers cos it actually costs protoss 15 minerals per scarab. So if you can hold on and cancel the hatch after 5 hits, you are actually being cost-effective... Weird, no? Well, probably not in the long run as you will undoubtably lose your drone too, but still. I've seen pros do this in VODs, it is most frustrating for toss cos you know they're buying time to prepare for something else =] | ||

Buildings: Warping in and killed: 0 back Warping in and cancelled: 75% back Units: Cancelled: 100% back Training in a building that is killed: 100% back (including any queued units also giving 100% back) Scarabs/Interceptors building: 0 back (Thanks for pointing this out Catyoul, and I just ran a test on Reaver and confirmed) Upgrades: Cancelled: 100% back Researching in a building that is killed: 75% back | ||

Actually I didn't know you got your money back on upgrades and queued units, shame on me :p You don't get money back on queued scarabs though (nor on queued interceptors). | ||
