Could someone give me some tips what to do? I've forwarded some ports on my router config page (6112,6115,6119), added brood war as an exception to the windows firewall, but still nothing. Do you have a legit copy of broodwar? The one you dl off iccup doesn't have a valid cd key, so doesn't work for official bnet servers. If you do have a legit copy, how exactly are you not able to connect? Do the servers not show up in the server list? Is there an error message when you try to connect? You havn't really given us enough information to work with. Well I'm not sure what I have to tell you. But here are the answers to your questions: - I have legit copy. - The servers show up in server list. - There is an error message when I try to connect. (forgot what it was sorry, could tell you later perhaps) - The extra information: brood war is not the only game that's unable to connect. So far other games also failed to connect to internet servers. Are you using any other firewalls, or quasi-firewall software? If so, turn them off and try. If not, turn off windows firewall and try. If that allows you to connect, then turn them back on and try tweak further, but try to isolate where the problem is first. If it's other games also failing to connect then chances are it's either firewall or router related. So if turning off all firewalls doesn't work, chances are it's going be something to do with your router settings (incorrectly fowarded ports don't stop you from connecting to bnet usually, just hosting, so it's probably not that). But yeah, first make sure it's not firewall related, firewall problems are easier to fix. If it's router related, basically good luck, those are incredibly tricky to fix, and if it's a connection related problem, then completely can't be fixed. Thank you for the advices! If I'm not mistaken, I got some extra safety stuff or something on my router. Should I disable my router safety settings as well?
Only if you know how to turn them back on. IIRC most people have a router firewall (that they might not even be aware of) that is incredibly useful. I would suggest try turning off (as in actually close, not just game mode, I have to turn off my firewall when playing BW, even game mode won't work properly) all your normal firewalls first, explore all the PC firewalls first since those issues are the easiest to fix. Every level of abstraction towards the hardware/connection side of things makes the issue harder to fix imo.

-constricted paths as opposed to wide open areas - funnels zerg units to maximize damage of storms/reavers/archons
-a close 3rd gas base that is easily defendable (up a narrow ramp/small choke)
its all subject to playstyles though really

Lurker can attack under swarm?
|
|
|
So it counts as melee attack even though you buy missile upgrades for it? And by under swarm I meat units which are under swarm not the lurker.

Lurkers do splash damage. Splash damage is not affected by swarm, hence why tanks, firebats, lurkers, mines and so on can deal damage underneath swarm. However, it gets complicated.
For example, the archon's attack will deal damage under swarm, but not full damage. The "centre" of the archon's attack is ranged attack, and is not counted as damage. But the rest of the circle of the archon's attack is splash damage, and does affect units under swarm. So it's still worth having swarm up vs archons, but it won't make units invincible.
