Player 2 decides to use another certain build order. They tell each other beforehand. Often times, one player is given a significant advantage with this (for example, in a ZvP when a Z agrees to go 12 hatch 11 pool and the P agrees to go 2 gate, the Z should win nearly every game if they're equally matched and at a good level). The two players then practice the very specific matchup for like eight hours straight. For you and your friend, something like one or two hours would exceed any expectations of an amateur. This teaches you how to react to certain strategies. It gives you all the holes of every build order from every game starting point, and puts yourself into your opponent's mind. It forces you to learn how to make macro decisions, when to move out, what to look out for, and so on. Past that, the game becomes almost completely mechanical. | ||
