I've searched google, and the search forum on this site, and have not been able to figure out my problem.
I have downloaded 3 or 4 different .scx to .jpeg programs, but I am unable to actually run them (FUCK VISTA). I have tried to figure out what is wrong with them, but have been unable to fix them.
Anyone know how to get them to run, or do you know of one that runs on Vista?
I'd prefer a simple solution, because I am not that good with computers.
Thanks in advance.

ive used gimp to do it in the past

Ifranview is easy and works perfectly. I recommend it!

Okay, downloaded and trying to run it.....
But.....
It doesn't recognize .scm or .scx files.....
I am currently looking for patches/updates for ifranview.....

irfanview is best and you can do them in big bunch's just check the overwriting and other options :O

What version are you using?
I've downloaded the newest one, and it doesn't recognize .scm or .scx files.
EDIT - yes, map files to .jpg.

If I understand you correctly, you want to export a jpeg image directly from a starcraft map file, right? You can try using Rexplorer, you can find it here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=50034 .
But, I think it has issues with (some?) protected maps, i.e. maps you can't open with the map editor.

Rexplorer doesn't configure itself properly on my computer. FUCK VISTA!
I am seriously thinking about getting a dummy laptop or computer, just so I can run shit that Vista won't.
And yes, what I want to do is take a map file and make a JPEG image of it, so I can view the map as a whole. I want more detail than a minimap will give me.

what map you are talking about? Perhaps there is person who could make this happen or somewhere here there is already picture of it.

It's not just 1 map......
I've got jpeg images of a lot of them, but there are some that I don't have.

I use SCMDraft2 to take a .bmp of the map
I don't get why anyone would use anything else.
If the map is protected, use unused unprotector to unprotect it.
If it has gosu level protection, send the map to me and I'll get you a image using my gosu level map editing skills.
EDIT: These are what the .bmps SCMDraft2 outputs look like: upload.mn/files/ddyd26erofpu0u2hl7ct.png

EDIT: These are what the .bmps SCMDraft2 outputs look like: upload.mn/files/ddyd26erofpu0u2hl7ct.png This. It's what I use for my maps as well. If you don't use SCMDraft already you should definitely have it if you are working with maps. It's a good idea to learn how to make images of maps on your own, it's really simple. I guess if you aren't up to it just post the map and me or scwizard can do it for you.
|
I also suggest making two sizes of the image when you do it. If you copy paste the image into a paint document and save it like scwizard has shown the file is almost 6 megabytes. Unless you are trying to show the exact detail resolution that high isn't really needed. Make a smaller image as well to fit the TL thread width if you are going to post it as in image and post just the link to the larger, more detailed picture. It saves bandwidth when loading

After SCMDraft outputs the bmp, you can save it as a .jpg or .png to compress it.
You can also resize it if you wish.

Sorry i though you meant pcx to jpeg.
To take images from maps I use ReXplorer, it's a great tool and lets you pick resolution of the image between other stuff.

Of course you can easily mix this to screenshot thing. .PCX to .JPG.
