NOTE: Round 3 is All-Kill Format, so there is a new scoring system.
Due to intrigue's massive lead, most of the 208-team field is already looking toward Round 3, which begins next week. Player and team prices will be adjusted based on Round 2 results, and everyone will have a fresh start in points and team members. Thus, you are not at a disadvantage if you did not play in Round 2. Everything resets for Round 3. For those that missed out on Fantasy PL last season, this is your chance!
Fantasy Proleague is a great experience that will make you appreciate and enjoy Proleague more, give you something to talk about with other Fantasy PL participants, and help you better familiarize yourself with the Proleague scene. For me personally, Proleague went from the bottom of my "care about" list straight to the top. I was looking forward to lineups being released, every ace match selection, player win streaks, etc. It really made Proleague much more exciting.
This contest will last for the duration of the next seven weeks of Proleague (starting on January 17th), which is the third of five rounds in the Shinhan 08-09 Proleague Season. Round 3 will be played in All-Kill format, which means that the teams send out one player, and the winner stays until one team has four wins. Thus, each match is Bo7 and each winning team could end up sending only one player (if that one player 4-0's the other team). Each losing team will end up sending four players (as they must cumulatively lose four times).
Contest Rules:
1. Each team will consist of six different players and one proteam. 2. Each team must include at least one player from each race. (Terran, Zerg & Protoss) 3. You must designate one of the players on your team to be the Team Captain (can't be traded and will determine tiebreakers). 4. You can spend no more than 30 points creating your team. (explained below) 5. Registration will be automated thanks to Sonuvbob. Check back for the link on 02:00 Jan 13 2009. 6. Each person only gets one entry. 7. Failure to correctly follow these rules may result in disqualification from the contest.
Team Creation:
Below is a list of all players who are eligible for Fantasy Proleague Round 3. Each listed player has a point value. You must spend that many points to place that player on your team. You may not exceed 30 points or your team will be disqualified. If you spend less than 30 points and are tied with another team in score, you will have the tiebreaker. However, I strongly advise you to use all 30 points, as even one point is much more valuable in purchasing players or teams than as a tiebreaker.
Point values are based upon their performance in the previous Proleague round based on the same scoring system that will be used for this contest. Zero point players are handled differently this Round. Since team wins are worth points for players on that team, almost all players (non-Airforce players at least) are worth at least 1 point. Players from Lecaf and Samsung, even if they don't appear, are worth 2 points because of the number of wins those teams get.
Player and team prices are included in the sign up form (link at top of post). To give you more time to register, the January 14th match between Lecaf and Woongjin will not count toward the player score. We have instead projected out the score of the players on these two teams so there is no unfairness, but the score deviation is so small it probably won't matter anyway.
Trading:
During the few days with no Proleague matches between each week there will be a "Trading Period." I will offer one or more available trades as a Trade of the Week. The trades offered will appear a such:
If you have one of either player and you want to make the trade you may PM me at anytime during the Trading Period and I will switch out the player you have for the one you don't. The trading feature does not allow you to have multiples of the same player. Trading may allow you to exceed the 30 point limit, that is okay. However, you may not make a trade if it would result in you not having a player of each race. You may not trade your Team Captain.
During the week you may PM me trade suggestions/proposals. I will review all proposed trades and may choose from them when posting the Trade of the Week. For the trade to be considered it must appear as a fair and interesting trade.
All-Kill Player Scoring:
Players: Lineup appearance: 1 Point* Game Win: 2 Points Game Loss: -1 Point 2-Game Streak Break: 1 Point** 3-Game Streak Break: 2 Points** Team Win: 1 Point*** DQ/Forfeit: -2 Point
*Only counts once, i.e. if Flash goes 4-0, he still only gets 1 appearance point **Streaks do not carry over between matches, all streaks must occur in the same match ***This counts for all players on the team's roster, they don't have to have played in the match
Proteams: 4-0 Victory: 5 Points 4-1 Victory: 4 Points 4-2 Victory: 3 Points 4-3 Victory: 2 Points 3-4 Defeat: 1 Point 2-4 Defeat: 0 Points 1-4 Defeat: -1 Points 0-4 Defeat: -2 Points Best Record for Round 3: 4 Points
Lecaf: 1 Point (+1 for 3-4 Defeat) SK Telecom: 2 Points (+2 for 4-3 Victory) Hiya: 2 Points (+1 for lineup, +2 for win, -1 for loss) Fantasy: 1 Point (+1 for lineup, -1 for loss, +1 for team win) Young: 0 Points (+1 for lineup, -1 for loss) Best: 7 Points (+1 for lineup, +6 for wins, -1 for loss, +1 for team win) Lomo: 0 Points (+1 for lineup, -1 for loss) Jaedong: 6 Points (+1 for lineup, +4 for wins, -1 for loss, +2 for 3-game streak break) Boxer: 1 Point (+1 for lineup, -1 for loss, +1 for team win) Bisu: 5 Points (+1 for lineup, +2 for win, +1 for 2-game streak break, +1 for team win)
Round 3 will be significantly more difficult than Round 2, now that everyone is more familiar with the players, the prices are more accurate, and there will be many more entrants. However, the newness of the All-Kill format will give you guys plenty of opportunities to differentiate your teams.
Remember, these prices are tentative and will be updated just prior to Round 3 Registration going live.
I've already spotted a couple of steals(if they prices don't vary too much). My team is already forming in my mind. Although, I gotta be honest, this looks harder. Far less steals available. Anyways, GJ!
goddamnit the new format makes it even harder to go out and pick cheaper players
this means there wont be as many superb cheap picks like leta or skyhigh last season if the good players just keep dominating like if flash just all kills everyone he plays against if thats possible

It won't be easy. Yes, every team will have at least one, possibly even two really strong players, but there are a lot of options to pick from.
I'm thinking it will be all about snipers and team aces. R3 format just changed shopping priorities. Damn, it looks this round is going to be less versatile in team member diversity.
so what is to expect from the new format regarding star player appeareance in line - up, because I am not to familiar with it. Will the coaches send out thei best players on the 1st game? or keep it for 3rd and 4th?
I heard in foreign scene this format is pretty used - what are the strategies?

Will the maps (balance) matter least?
Line-up announcement is still going to happen?
I don't remember if MBC Team League had lineups, but I think R3 might require them. I'd personally prefer if they didn't ask for lineups, because that way, we could see a lot of the team ace's getting sniped, and it would always be a cliffhanger wanting to know who is coming next.
coaches have to submit a list of players who might play in that game 48 hours before that game starts coaches must submit the name of a player who will play the first set. when the games start, coaches are only allowed a maximum of 5 minutes to decide who they shall send out next.
This format sounds so awesome... But picking players will be hard... I think i'm just going with guys i want to do good...
Last Fantasy-PL went not as bad as my rank says... aside from my plain wrong captain pick (Calm) which really hurt - nearly no Ace appearance and not doing good at all - the rest of my team did good/ok with one exception... But it was really awefull to want one player win because I like him while he's playing against one of my PL-Guys...

Sounds strange. There's going to be some serious sniping going on. On the other hand, it will be hard to prepare for the players because the format is so flexible. I predict lots of upsets.
Noob questions: What is the team captain actually good for, except it can't be traded away? I read for tiebreaking, but is that all? The captain with more points trumping the lower point captain? So you would always make your best player the captain? Furthermore, can I have as many players as I want, basically making it a tradeoff between many cheap players with lots of lineup appearance points versus a few quality players getting points for wins? I should learn to read the OP.

PL has the same rule(one player of each race in every lineup), so Fantasy PL has it too.
I'm guessing they will have to. Anyways, most of the matches going to the 5th/6th game, and due to the all-kill format, race sniping won't give you the luxury of playing only your 4 terrans and 3 tosses.
I think the scoring system could be better. It's very hard to win more than 1 game in a row, since the opposing coach can send out a counter to any winning player's race and playstyle, and IMO the scoring system should reflect that. Anyone agree/disagree?

Yep, i suggest 1/3/5/7 points for in-game streaks.
Shouldn't this be updated and open for registration since like 25 minutes ago?
Edit: And just a stupid question... If you choose some oldtimer as your team captain and he'll decide to retire mid-season, will you be able to trade him for someone else then? Or designate another for captain? Also, does the price of the team count towards the 30 points limit?
In the interest of fairness, I think you should take backho out of the possible picks for people signing up who don't know he's out of comission for the next few months
I really had a hard time not picking skyhigh, Kal, great, and Flash. All seem like steals to me at their point total. I just decided to go with a more balanced team that could be awesome and could suck. Why not go for it?
Had a hard time not picking by.hero but then looked at my roster and how STX dependent it was. And i decided to pick Calm up again cause i think he will be a good player for this form of play dont prove me wrong calm
Just to clear up some of my noobish confusion,,,do we have to keep track of the points we receive our self or is someone doing that and we just calculate it our self?

I think KTF and OGN are the best buys, OGN is good since its relatively cheap (3), while you can leave the pricy Leta out but still gather points if he manages to stay "on fire"

KTF went 4-7, but only scored 2 total points because they got 3-0'd four times and only won one of their 4 wins by a score higher than 3-2. So they barely outscored Ace. That's why they are at 0.
Yes they probably will score more than that this season, and may be a "steal" but there might be another team that will score even more. Do you really think Flash will 4-0 that often? I think people are overestimating how hard it is to 4-0. Not many players had more than a 3 game win streak (I count less than 10) all season, and that was practicing each week knowing who they would play and only once on a map.

I'm not expecting Flash to 4-0 often, but I don't expect it from any other player either. I just think that KTF looks a bit too cheap and I stand by that.
Yeah, after gambling and TheZerg and Reach last season, I decided to become extremely conservative with my picks. All the players I picked are already established, dependable players. Sure I wont get 1st place with a team this conservative; but the odds of finding that one player who will have a breakout season is incredibly unlikely. Hell, how many people teams had Leta last season, 10? So yeah, this team is safe, not failsafe, but safe.
Part of me was really tempted to pick by.hero (like a lot of the teams I see posted here) but I feared that he wouldn't receive that much playing time. STX has July, Hwasin, Kal, and Calm to play in front of him; it's for that reason that it seemed like a difficult pick to make. If I had known that STX would play him consistently, then I would have nabbed him for sure; but nobody knows that except the Coaches at STX right now.

The question is... Does training for a specific enemy actually help the S-Class players or the *lower* ones?
Team name: 4 little Zergs, a Dragon and Mr. Robot (6) July (2) maGma (8) Flash (Captain) (5) Kal (4) Calm (1) by.hero
Just players i like... Picks are defintivly not smart (for all of them playing STX would need 4 players *showing* each weak and i don't even have Hwasin which seems to play allways in it ^^).
But well, at least i really like all of these guys except flash... But you need a Terran, right? :p
Hopefully savior and backho get back in shape, they were cheap and hopefully Lecaf will give a better performance this PL. AND HOPEFULLY Bogus will play as good as in GomTV!

BackHo is injured and will probably miss the whole season, so you might want to rethink that choice.
I can't decide if I should only pick players i really like or pick players I dont really like at all but will probably do really well or just a mix of both.
If I pick players I like, if they end up not doing well it makes the pain twice as bad.
If I pick players I don't care about, then if they do bad I don't care as much.

I picked players I liked last season, and did terrible. Thus, i'm trying to be subjective this time.

KTF is 0 points because they only scored 2 points last round. Air Force Ace only scored 1 point. Contrast this to Lecaf, who scored over 30 points, or SKT / Samsung (25 points). Sure, KTF might do better because of Flash. But if Flash loses (he's not invincible) or if he's not played first, 4-3 wins don't really count for that much (only 2 points). You want 4-2, 4-1, or 4-0's. And KTF is very unlikely to give those to you, because if they win it will very likely be a 4-3, and if they lose it might be as bad as 1-4 or 0-4.
Reasoning? Leta is going to rape, but he's damned expensive... so picking OGN as the team should be able to cash in on Leta being amazing. Pusan is stupidly cheap and should be one of MBCs go-to guys this season. Calm is STXs primary zerg so i expect to see a lot of streakyness. Really is eStro's only person capable of raping multiple people (while magma is in MSL atleast). Yarnc is capable of holding his own in OGN and will be the guy to play when they want to rest Leta (thnx osl). Free is stars's best bet to win while skyhigh looks to be a really promising player to take games.
I have effort as he is on my favourite team, one of my new favourite players of my favourite race, and is capable of winning many games. Jangbi who i've always liked, is a really solid strong player who can be seen as a favourite vs many players. Great i see potential in and he is my expensive wildcard, hwasin is a strong t player pretty cheap who i've seen show some old form recently. sAviOr and tazza are my wildcard players, and i had to have savior anyway.
And my team is STX because they have 4 star players capable of all killing any team at a given time. and they aren't as expensive as some other teams.

Thx as always Hot Bid! I still think KTF is steal b/c Flash COULD win a lot. But unlikely w/ no depth.
Can you explain the jump in prices on some people. I would really like to know how you factor these things as a whole too if you could shed some light on that.
i,e why did Savior/iloveoov (especially the latter) jump from 1 pt to 2 pts when all-kill format was introduced.
At first I thought it was because SKT T1 did so well but then I saw Boxer at 1 so that doesn't explain it.
EDIT: Decided to rearrange my team. EDIT#2: After reading FzeroFX's blog and also after realizing that Daezang could get negative points because of DQ/Forfeit, I decided to switch my team around.
Luxury is a steal for three points, he will always play after Flash is done, Stork is one of the six dragoons, and can do an all kill ( a prefer JangBi, but he is too expensive ), sKyHigh is the best upcoming terran ( with Leta ofc. , but 7 points cheaper), Saint is the main zerg for his team, maGma is the "surprise" i hope eSTRO will put out,(5) freeis one of the dragoons and will always get to play. no retarded PianO for me this time.
Firebathero is badass like that. Stork and Jangbi are part of the "6" dragons. BoxeR will make a glorious comeback, sKyHigh is an upcoming terran. YellOw is sexy.
sAviOr will destroy everyone... hopefully. I've always been a Jaedong fan, even before he started rampaging everyone so hard. I like GGPlay, but I haven't Really (lol) seen him since he played against Iris in the OSL Finals. BackHo was there because I had 2 spare points, and why not? I thought about Kwanro... but meh.

IMO you need to pick players that don't have obvious weaknesses. For example picking firebathero is not ideal because other teams can just send out a protoss.

On December 04 2008 06:51 Hot_Bid wrote: let me explain something about effort, and why there's so much good feeling about him. effort is irrevocably tied to savior. he is his true apprentice, his home grown little brother. idra says that savior loves effort, i'm sure even more than the coaches do. he's more like a young, modern savior than kwanro or jy or orion ever was. he's his heir. when cj fans and savior fans watch effort, we see a young ma jae yoon, someone with infinite possibilities and whose play reminds us so much of the old maestro its scary. most of all, when we watch effort play, we remember. we remember a dominant ma jae yoon who had been so abruptly taken from us. we remember the savior who we wish so badly to return. before bisu, before FBH, before his current painful struggles. effort represents both hope for the future and the legacy of the past, merged into one talented, hard working, fierce looking kid.
i am basing this solely off of what i see during CJ proleague matches, but the kid cares. he's a team player, he's humble, and he's come up through one of the most difficult team practice systems out there. ever since the team-ceremonies that xellos, much, and iris did to stick it to FBH when savior was slumping, i've loved CJ more and more. effort is a continuation of that and of all the things i've mentioned above with relation to our memories of savior. even his name is representative of this. his choice of ID is not one that represents a sun god or jesus or even something that's cool like bisu or shark. it's an ID that embodies the CJ spirit more than anything. it's all you need to be a good teammate, to win. if CJ could be embodied in one noun, it'd be effort.
to us CJ fans, he means much more than just the next big zerg player.
KTF is such a steal in all-kill mode. With Flash and Luxury and Tempest just raping in the lineup, they will win a lot of games, you heard it here first!
I would really like to switch Hero with someone which is guaranted more playtime.... But he has to be Zerg, he has to be good, he has to be max 2 Points and he has to not be Magma :p. Suggestions?

f u ArC
disagree?
12 is to much for Leta but if he can back up his cost with results i don't see a problem . Last round Mind almost always won his game to force an ACE match and everytime he was chosen to play in it . So if Mind continues this results i don't see a problem for him being that high now that its an all - kill format .. . He has the best chance in his team to do an all kill of an other team and the coaches on Wemade will be expecting him to kill at least half a team by himself so i think that he will try to keep up the pace .

You get 1 point for a team win if you have Bisu regardless if he gets to play and it doesn't matter if you have SKT or eny other team instead . If you don't have a SKT T1 player and SKT wins you obviously won't get that 1 point for a team win , but you will still get some points if you have SKT T1 as your team . Did it make eny sense ?

Well the point calculation is independent. So if you Have a SKT player and SKT wins, the player gets +1 (if you have multiple players all of them get +1). If you have SKT as team they will get points according to how high they have won. So if you have both SKT Players and the team, the points will just be added. If you think that Bisu is very likely to perform well its does make sense to choose SKT, because then you obviously benefit more from his peformance.

you will still get some points if you have SKT T1 as your team
edit:think I got it, theres just another way of calculating points for choosen players/choosen teams(its in OP) having SKT as your team doesnt mean that you have bisu in your lineup~~

No we can't. And you don't want us to. He is not listed on any team's roster currently. Any player listed on the roster of any team currently is available in the player selection.
rearranged my team, the Jaedong-UpMagic duo has been replaced by Flash-Stork Team name: Mighty Wombats Action Squad B (8) Flash (7) JangBi (6) Stork (Captain) (6) firebathero (2) maGma (1) Tazza
Jaedong - I just have to pick one of the "big guys" out there (IMO Flash, Bisu and Jaedong), but being a zerg fanboy, my decision was simple ^_^
Shuttle - There are a total of 4 (1) pointers that are worth it: Kwanro (z), RuBy (t), Shuttle (p), Tazza (p). I just decided to go with him cuz his name is cool
sAviOr - I believe!
FrOzean - A really good T, I have no idea why is he only 2 pts (maybe has something to do with the fact that he only wins when he wants to, but oooh well whatever ^ ^)
Kal - one of the best 5-6 pointers I could think of, he'll almost always win at least 1 game, sniping opponent's zerg
July (captain) - My favorite player EVER. I wouldn't trade him for anything > : P

Nah, I bet most of those first time posters are second (or more) accounts of the same guys so they can pick other teams and have more chance of success, which kinda sucks if it's true. If you check their joining date, almost all of them are between the 13th and 14th of January.
Is there any way mods can check on IP's or something so we avoid this Fantasy PL to be flooded by fake accounts?

Nah, I just decided to share my brilliant rooster with everyone (like almost all ppl here are doing ). But seriously, if I was using a 2nd acc only to get better chances of winning this (it has NO winning price that I know of and if I win with fake acc, what "fame" would I get unless I actually tell everyone I did it with my 2nd acc which would be totally stupid...), why the f*ck would I post it here, where mods could find out my intentions
It's just that I decided to actually share my "brilliant" 1st ever try at this, because I found the Fantasy thing really fun to do (like the no-money betting systems that are laying around).
I dunno if I'll become active on the forums and all, after my now-to-be 2nd post, but I just might start swarming the strategy forums when trying to improve my D-ish zerg play after January's exams.
Duplicate accounts are prohibited on TL.net. I won't lie, I have gotten a few other staff members to submit variations on the team that I selected, at the cost of them submitting their own team. In fact, IntoTheWow and I picked a core group last season of Skyhigh, Young, Effort, and Jaedong, and they carried us (and those we advised to pick those players) to pretty high standings. If you notice, our teams are very similar except for one or two players.
As for people creating many duplicates to play different teams, we know who you are. So if you're one of those guys making 10 teams to try to shotgun your way to #1, you are in for a unpleasant surprise at the end of the season.

No, the first time posters in this thread are actually new members (or registrees). And yes, we can check to make sure multiple accounts aren't being entered by the same person... We've got it covered
I know several people personally outside of TeamLiquid who were lurkers (like my roommate for example) but told me they finally joined specifically for this. I'm hoping we get some good contributers among some of these people, newly motivated (or addicted) by their brand new registration!
I'd like to link my blog for anyone that likes to discuss their fantasy picks. You're welcome to delay talking about how you chose or why you chose who you chose until after the deadline closes. I'd like it to be an open discussion about how the league develops as the round goes on including how people are doing and their strategies, etc. I dunno, I'm just a fantasy addict. Go there!

1) Whichever captain has scored more points gives the better tiebreaker. So if total points are equal, whoever has the better captain comes out in front.
Well, he is beating almost everyone by 30 points right now...
You don't get to keep the points you don't spend. So the only thing he is ahead in right now is the tiebreaker since he spent less points than everyone else. Though as soon as anyone scores a point, he will probably be losing again.

Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for the correction.
You should have picked ACE instead of KTF, as KTF can actually bring you some points (which doesn't seem to be the idea).
Maybe everyone should be able to create a second team that will try to collect as few points as possible. Although ACE is too big a favourite and a separate trading system should be probably needed.

Sort of a mix between trying to make good picks and favoritism. I look at stats and shit but then.. I just want UpMagic on my team. I just want Jangbi on my team. I just want Bisu on my team.
Don't want to have to root against any of these guys

Hey i'm new to TL and im thinking of giving this a go. I don't Really understand a few important details however, like; how do you win? are there any prizes? Do all the players we choose have to be on the same proteam IRL, and if so, why do we have to Say what that proteam is? And most importantly, At no Point in this event, am i going to acutally have to play starcraft, right?
You win if your team gets the most points. Prizes? Don't count on it. No, you can pick players on different proteams. If you've played fantasy football, the proteam is like your defense. No, you will not have to play Starcraft.

Oh i see. So the number of "points" we can have to a team is different to the number of "points" we earn by winning? Right. Nah i've never played fantasy football, and i'm not familiar with the rules of American football either sorry. Thanks anyway ^^
Had a very tough time to choose my players. Missing Jaedong and Kal like hell but couldn't afford them for my team. JangBi might be too "expensive" with his 7 Points compared to Stork, Sea with 6 points and SkyHigh with 5 points - but to hell with that! JangBi rocks
Leta is too expensive, so I went with Jaedong. I picked Flash over Bisu because he cost one point less. Pusan should see a lot of action and is thus very cheap at only three points. July will still destroy every protoss he comes up against and should thus see quite a bit of action. Boxer is there to check in on all the SKT1 wins they are going to get, hopefully they will win enough for him to be worth his one point, I don't see a glorious comeback for him unfortunately (although I'd give my left kidney to be proven otherwise). Lomo isn't Lecaf's main terran, but he should get a good few points if Lecaf start winning a lot and his vs P isn't all that bad.
Flash should destroy everyone to make KTF worth it, but most of the other good teams are just too expensive.
Mind 10 points? 10?! The same ammount like JD and more than Bisu, Flash or Best? That seems a bit unfair... I will have to think about it a lot more...

mind seems a bit pricey but he'll probably carry fox so... there's that
Mind's lost like 4 or his last 5 games, he got 2-0ed by free in arguably Mind's best MU, HiyA rolled him, Hwasin 2-0ed him really easily, so basically in his last 5 games he's only picked up a win vs a slumping FBH. I don't think he'll be carrying WeMade in this current state.

really? who do you think will? ROCK? Pure? Pure is 4-10 this season, don't think he's gonna be stepping it up for this. you think the keke/roro/shine[kal] are gonna do it? Mind may have gotten kicked out of the OSL and then GOMTV (which he was in ro8 in btw, vs a "dragon") but he's still consistent in PL, and he's pretty much the best WeMade has. also, fbh was on a 4-0 streak in tvt before he lost to Mind, don't see how that was a slump.

I don't think anyone will be carrying WeMade this round, NaDa is doing alright but I don't think he has skill atm to take down multiple players in an All-Kill format, Pure may be able too, he has potential as seen in last PL, Mind seems to be on the verge of slumping, maybe he just had a few couple off days but I think investing in him especially with the knowledge of how he played in his past 5 games is a bad idea, Shine may be able to do well but he doesn't have enough matches under his belt to put a lot of faith in. TBH I think alot of the 8-10 players are a bad investment when you could possibly get 2 mid level players that are doing well now and in turn have a more well balanced team.
I think every team will have each of their A-teamers come up with a specific build for vs the potential all killers from the other team (Mind, leta, flash, bisu, best, jaedong, etc.)
I may be way off base but Mind has been known to be a swingy player, sometimes he can be the very best and sometimes he can be one of the worst.
Also, about fbh being on a 4-0 stream. He beat Casy (Casy plays well TvT but he is in ACE), Lomo who's never been very good and has been even worse than usual lately, a slumping Iris, and Light who is very swingy and TvT is by far not his best MU. If you watch any of FBH's recent games he doesn't have his usual flair (go watch his game vs ZerO and tell me that fbh is playing at his usual level =/).

Maybe nobody will? Another thing is, I think Mind is a really bad kind of player for this format. He was always win-loss-win-loss-win-I-just-beat-you-3:2-in-BO5. He rarely destroys anybody 3:0 or even 2:0 in BO3 (he went 2:1 against Baby, GGPlay and Kal in GOM). That's fantastic for BOx, great for normal Proleague...but sucks in an all-kill format.
But that's not the point, I still think Mind is great. But 10 points? TEN? He is the second most expensive player here after Leta...that's just not fair.
I also want to say that considering Mind's swingy nature he may be a good choice assuming he'll swing back into destructo mode mid round but if he continues down this path I think whoever chooses him is in for a rough time this round.
well, I agree with you guys then I guess. I didn't mean Mind would 4-0 a bunch of teams and catch the only wins WeMade. I just think he's going to be the one that helps the team the most.

Oh, I understand . I think he's slumping a little now, but as you said he also lost to S-Class players and could probably win vs most mid level A-Teamers with consistancy I just don't think WeMade will be a driving force in this round, nor will Mind unless he pulls something similar to last round where he started off kinda slow then raped face for the rest of it ;D.
I have prepared much better team but I just couldn't submit it without Mind. It would probably tear my fanboy heart apart . So here it comes, half joking, half serious...

On January 15 2009 19:58 Itachii wrote: Is choosing Savior obligatory while making your team now?:D
Only if you want to destroy everyone. But yeah I hope Savior fares as a good choice.
I dont think savior can win many games but he is by far the best 2 points pick. Hes an active player on cjs rooster and the second zerg as well. Also take in mind that experience is going to be a huge advantage because of the league format, no longer players can be sure about the map they are going to play into. And last but not least he is one of the few zergs that will actually worth picking cost/revenue wise unless you want to gamble with a middle level zerg like ggplay or saint.
My reasoning? Should be an interesting read for people who know what they're doing. + Show Spoiler +
First off, I'd like to say that I have no idea what I'm doing. I've pored over stats, recent wins, names, ELO rankings (which BISU DROPPED HAHAHAHAHAH YES), and other such info. No, I didn't read that thread about HOW to pick your teams as I prefer people to pick how they want (people they like; all 0 cost, play to win, etc) instead of following set guidelines. For all the people who read this AND have knowledge of what in the hell they're doing, correct me if I'm wrong as I'd wanna win round 4 or whatever by learning from my mistakes.
Anyway... point 1: PvZ is dead. How is it dead? Well, whoever watched MSL Group A knows that Bisu got totally dismantled by Savior and Zero (if you didn't, now you do... and Magma put up a fight). From the look of those games, the solution was to never engage the Protoss rapemachine of ZelChon, but instead to harass the flying fuck out of his bases (oh and to exploit his negligence in micro from the 3 games he played). He (Bisu) seemed to never have his forces in position to defend against Zero and Savior's forces. At the same time, Savior's furious expoing (triple expo early on?) and the map itself are possible contributors to the downfall of one hailed "the next bonjwa" (yeahh... no, we'll see this happen when FBH massacres Free, Jangbi, and Best in one night), but hey, apparently where 2 ramps into a main was unfair, Bisu couldn't even defend 1. I took his ass out of my lineup FAST because he's already useless in an entire match-up, subbing in the obligatory Savior. Not because he raped Bisu, but because he knocked that Group-F-making whorebag out of the MSL (no credit goes to Zero for sealing the deal or anything, nope).
Don't get me wrong, he's still a monster in PvT, as a feverish Flash can attest to (playing with a fever is far GG-resultant than playing with drowse-inducing medication), I just don't care for it (as I love Flash, even after that surprise buttsecks Bisu shoved on him in their PL fight).
Tossgirl falls in the same boat as Savior: obligatory pick. With how she played against UpMagic (I didn't see the game itself, but read "she played a lot better than expected", I gather she's going to appear in more televised games. Besides, once July cleans her mess, she gets points for STX wins. If she wins, then YES YES YES all the better.
Flash is an auto-pick for me. Best Terran out there. I'll stick to my belief of Leta being over-rated despite never seeing a game of his. As an FBH fan, it pains me to not pick him, but if he gets sniped by DaezanG or someone that level my monitor's (and the laptop it's a part of) is breaking in half. Jaedong's new-age ZvT hasn't met with the Little Monster yet, who more than likely has some sort of solution to queen-play (who knows, he might steal the Fantasy build or something... not that I really know what that is). SkyHigh does his homework, but seeing as he doesn't know who he's gearing up for, I don't want him. Only other Terran I'd consider is Boxer...
Jaedong. He should be in everyone's team, imo, seeing as the only potentially problematic match-up for Zergs, ZvP, is wrecked. His ZvZ is poweroverwhelming, and his ZvT queenplay wasn't exactly friendly against Fantasy (who he raped right before a butt-hurt Bisu, I might add). Seriously, the only way he can go down would be in an epic ZvZ 12hat v 9pool that he could probably defend against anyway. Ignore that loss to UpMagic as... come on, what the hell, Lecaf? 0-3?
Jangbi was definitely a hard pick. With my minimalist point spending on KTFlash (seriously, whoever coined this is a genius), Horang2, Tossgirl, and Savior, I had a lot of leeway. Now, as ZvP has been figured out (if it weren't, then I really don't understand how even MAGMA almost beat Bisu), I couldn't rely on stats alone for this match-up to make a decision. His PvT is near 70% with a 5-game streak, and he's rolling P in a 3-game streak on top of that. I could have just as easily gone with Stork, who's cheaper and offers similar stats and a recent win against Flash (but a loss to Nada, what the hell?), but where would that spare point have gone? To Jangbi, of course!
Horang2 is an easy pick being 100% in ALL HIS GAMES!!! WHOA!! For 2 points, this is like finding Final Fantasy 7 in a clearance bin for $5 (which that over-rated Bisu-like game shoulda cost).
Other potential picks: by.Hero || JulyZerg || Pusan || Nada || Free || FBH || Sea - No to the Hero. Why? I don't honestly know, but at 1 point, it really can't hurt to have him on your team. - July's stats speak for themselves, and hell he's on a streak. Thing is, the only great win he's got is against FBH. - For Pusan, I have no honest idea. I heard a lot of people saying (read them typing) that whatever team he's on should throw them into their lineup. First thing he's in an ace match, he wins. - Nada... because it's Nada? - Free is a monster. Some recent wins against Mind, Bisu, Savior (from a month ago so it doesn't count), and Great say a lot, no? - FBH: NO! Any competent P can take him out, though his recent TvP hasn't gone tested. On the same note, going from being topped by B.Net players to suddenly fighting Best isn't fair measure. - Sea: With Queens seeing game time, though I personally don't know how much time, you're going to need someone with Irradiate spam and insane army replenishment skills, and for that Sea's your guy... so long as he plays on the same level in his game against Jaedong.
Hope that provided a laugh for you with knowledge to refute everything I said. In any case, this is my final line-up... I think. Still a day and a few hours left, so of course things can change (on top of the 10+ lineup submissions I've already done).
Forced to change my team because of the failure of a certain SKT Protoss...... Team name: The Rainmen (8) Flash (Captain) (3) Luxury (6) Stork (4) UpMagiC (3) Anytime (6) Sea
, he might be a better pick for the Fantasy team, since he'll definitely be seeing more action in PL. But another question is whether or not he can fix his play so he doesn't get sniped by Z's who know how to counter his style.

It's possible he'll adapt BeSt's style with a bit more of his own flare.

What do captains do besides not being able to be traded? Not like I'm going to trade MJY anyway!
My team is basically all the up and coming. (and coming BACK) Savior will destroy, no? Zero is working his way up for sure. Jaedong is...well he's the only one already up there on my team. By.hero should be as good as July, but costs 5 points less :D Free is one of the cheaper dragons that I think is actually becoming one of the best. Dangerous PvT and PvZ developing. (Arbiter/Archon Power) Skyhigh just has something that's like you know he will be good. OGN Sparkyz Come On, they have leta, they can't be losing. It's like buying leta for 3 points instead of 12 ;P

If he shows up in trade on the first week I've probably made a mistake, so I hope he doesn't.
Yeah this is definitely one of those calculated risks you can't possibly decide on
I was joking when I said oov would 4-0 Ace keep in mind his wrist could start to act up again at any point in time and the chances that he'll be able to play 4 consecutive games at his maximum capacity is quite low.
I think this is my final team, I'm just gonna go out on a limb and hope that Snow gets some playing time and isn't horrible for a rookie . I also really don't like Bisu, but + Show Spoiler +
Bisu is out of MSL/OSL now so he has nothing to practice for except PL, right? If he stops being a whiny bitch about how Tears of the Moon is imbalanced he should rape it up here
asdfasdf I don't know if it's possible for me to stop changing it, every time I look at it I feel like redoing it T_T Team name: Team Keen (10) Jaedong (Captain) (8) Flash (7) JangBi (1) by.hero (2) Horang2 (2) sAviOr
flash , jd , july for the allkills obviously. upmagic is a steal for 4 points .he will play/win many games for estro savior cause I BELIEVE. (for 2 points come oN!) daezang as 0-filler
flash and jangbi are must-haves; free is going to play in 90% of all woogjin's games and take out anyone if he brings his a-game; saint imo is the one of the best 4 pointers, he's solid in all match-ups and has lots of potential, mbc is counting on him, so he'll see a lot of play time; yellow is there so that if saint starts choking, i can legally trade him away; stork needs no explanation, he'll lose random games here and there because he's stork, but he'll also win a lot because he's stork; conclusion: can't go wrong with 3 dragons, mbc's only good zerg, and flash

Seems like we have similar strategies heres my team made it after alot of pouring over tlpd last night
My team has gone unchanged since day one. I've changed it three times today ... argh. Team name: Rino Rush (6) July (Captain) (2) Horang2 (5) sKyHigh (10) Jaedong (2) sAviOr (5) YellOw[ArnC]
Team name: I came up with this in 20 seconds and I'm not changing. Changes: (1) (7) JangBi (8) Flash (10) Jaedong (Captain) (2) Juni (1) RuBy (2) Horang2
Savior, Boxer and Reach for 3 pts, GG! This is going to be the year of the Ling btw, o-0!
edit: Really nice initiative, props to the organisation! I always liked the football manager thingies, except I bloody hate football :p This is a dream come true. GG!
WTF the exact same team as mine ....I would accuse you of stealing if we both get first place !
Edit : Will there be a problem if someone has an identical team as mine ???
You are lucky that i found a better team ....
No... plus there will always be trades available throughout the season if you want to differentiate yourselves. There are currently very very few identical teams (single digits) and only one pair that are identical down to the captain.

Some of us want to keep our teams secret until after registration closes due to small wagers between each other (among other reasons). But I assure you that intrigue will be playing to defend his title!
Not 100% satisfied, but I've changed it a dozen times now.
I'm not convinced Flash and Jaedong have the support behind them to score lots of team win points, but if I'm trusting KTF as my team, Flash is a no-brainer as my captain and only terran. Jaedong's Jaedong.
Savior is a small risk because he's behind effort on the depth chart, but he's motivated to succeed this year and cheap at 2 points. He'll get some games and CJ will probably finish in the middle of the pack.
Pusan is dirt cheap at 3 points and hopefully won't suck as much as he did in round 2.
Guemchi is trade bait after week 1 if he wins a few games. If OGN has the confidence in him to start in both matches this week, maybe he's doing very well in practice games. At any rate, he's less of a risk than a 1 point player that might not even be in the lineup.
I'd rather have Jangbi over Stork, but the 1 point difference made Stork an easier fit. Hopefully he pays off.
Replaced Samsung with OGN, and ForGG with Flash. I guess i'll see ..
Nice! Our teams are pretty similar. Except I have stx+horang2 instead of lux. i had a tough time figuring out who should be captain... jangbi or flash GL with your team!

My team is similiar aswell i went horang2 by dropping stork for free insted of by.hero and gambled picking iris over savior other than that the same.
Hoping to see how the end of the week goes, hopefully Leta will validate my OGN purchase.
That last 2 pointer was so hard to fill though, was bouncing it around, was going to settle with Lomo, but didn't like the 2 Lecaf because Lomo would probably only provide points from team wins, due to HiyA/fOrGG being more senior members, even despite his potential vZ sniper role.
No idea where else to ask, so... are there going to be daily WL ranking updates here like there were in round 2 or will these be done periodically instead?

I think its probably expected that if you're reading the fantasy pl thread you are up to date or don't mind seeing spoilers, especially with frequent point updates in the op too.
This is just the signup thread... results and updates will be kept elsewhere. Until that thread goes up though in a little bit I guess people can discuss here.
