Man, T1 is really pulling out all the stops. On a team that only needs to send one terran out per match(since they can send two protosses) and has Canata, Fantasy, and Midas... they have Oov playing? That just seems unreal. Either Oov is now really good, or he has absolutely no confidence in his terrans.

I'm a little bit tentative about this oov comeback. If their problems were their Terrans instead of their Zergs, then it would be fine, but it just seems like oov is more likely to cut into the playing time of superior players (nowadays anyway) on their team like Midas and Fantasy.

This is why I hate the new rule this season. Since you need to send 1 of each race in the first 4 matches, the old schoolers (who are not at the top of the team) basically never get to play. Take CJ. Strong zerg team, mid-range terran, slumping toss at the moment. They HAVE to send Much or Movie for a game, which is likely a loss, plus they can only send 2 of their zergs, so they have to hope for the terran to win. That means they really have no choice but their top terran every time, Iris. If they could send 2 zergs and 2 terrans or 3 zergs and a terran, they could obviously risk sending XellOs, assuming the other 3 would get the win. But with the new rule, they will send sAviOr, EffOrt, Iris, and Much/Movie basically every time, unless someone is training for individual leagues (e.g. no sAviOr on Saturday).
It also tends to lend itself to more of the same matchups on each specific map. Each night usually ends up 3/4 to 4/4 mirrors, or no mirrors. Whereas under the old system you could risk sending out another terran on a usually non-terran map to snipe a zerg or toss, you cannot take that terran away from one of the terran maps. If there are no mirrors, it will be the same matchups, like Raid Assault: ZvZ on mirror night, TvZ on non-mirror night. Maps always did tend to have a couple match-ups most of the time, but now there is even more incentive to only send a certain race or matchup to each map.

Sorry, but as a CJ fan you cannot blame the new rules on your team's problems. If anything, CJ has a fairly balanced team with Much, Iris, and Memory to support its zergs.
The rules hurt all teams. KTF has to send out lame tosses like Lucifer and Tempest. Lecaf the same with the amazing Backho. Sparkyz has freaking Chalrenge. And you think CJ has it tough with Much!? Samsung also has to deal with absolutely fresh nobodies to put for its zegs. You think anyone has heard of by.great or juni before?

by.great is destroying shit this season...top 10 record in PL. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the team most screwed by the new rules has been SK T1, simply because they lack any good Zergs or Terrans all of a sudden. Canata can't win, Midas just totally fell of the map after getting destroyed by BeSt in the OSL...that leaves us with oov. The Zergs, well, I don't even have to go into that.
OK, let's do some stat searching:
BeSt 8-3 (2nd in PL)
Bisu 4-0 (8th in PL)
by.fantasy 5-4 (OK he's not total garbage)
Rest of the team: 1-17 HOLY WTF

Holy shit oov, this is gonna be epic. I always wondered why they don't play BoxeR more in the PL, it seems that every time they have a match, BoxeR is not in the line up, I've only seen him play like twice this PL season.

I don't see much of what you're saying. For the first point, the number of new players are rising, not lowering, because teams are forced to use players of their weakest race(some of which I mentioned). For the second point, maps causing mirror matchups is not a new thing this year. Not unless you haven't seen enough of TvTs maps like wuthering heights last season.

If you're saying that SKT is being hurt the most by the new rules, you're not going out on a limb at all.
Anyway, I just wanted to point out something. Lecaf, despite having a really good set of 4 or 5 top players (at least relative to other teams, try finding somebody better than BackHo that's forced to play every day), have nobody else. All of their other Zerg (other than JD) and Protoss players are unbearably horrible.

This begs the question of how Lecaf will do when it gets to the playoffs, and things go to a Bo7 format (I'm assuming things will still be Bo7 in the playoffs).
It also means that if SKT1 can hold on until the playoffs, they should post better results, since their auto-lose games (T1 Zergs, I'm looking at you) will have less of an effect on the outcome of the matches.

Playoffs are in a year. This round is only a fifth of the proleague season.

True, but that doesn't make the playoffs less significant. Being first throughout the season only gets you so far in the playoffs.

I love by.great. But that doesn't take away from the fact that before this season, NO ONE really knows much about him other than being cannon fodder for Leta in the PL finals. I guess there's something to be said of him actually playing in the finals over Frozean... but he's still a new kid.
My point is that the new rules forces teams to throw inexperienced kids into the fire. Some excel(Khan zergs) and some fuck up(T1 zergs). It's actually kind of refreshing... unless you're a T1 fan of course.

Tempest isn't garbage, but he and that other protoss for KTF are both pretty bad in the PL. That said though, KTF has no depth after Luxury and Flash anyway, so I guess the rules don't matter too much for them.
