Idiot.. What I was saying in the first place is that I'm not surprised ogogo would steal. Progaming is a dead-end. Well your relative is just a classic example of an addiction. It's not necessarilly a "gamer" thing, it's just an addiction, like drugs and alcohol. Also, in Korea, Progaming is as much of a dead-end as other sports. Perhaps not as big as the mainstream sports like soccer or golf, but ex-tennis players do end up in similar situations, where they invest so much in that career but just don't go far with it. In fact it's like that for most sports. It's not just a "gaming thing"... it's a natural outcome for any sport. Like I said, I'm going to be a little biased. I don't consider sports and progaming to be in the same (or similar) category.
I don't consider sports and "e-sports" the same either, but either way you are full of shit. Either you are the "high and mighty" type who is posting trash so he can get off on feeling good about himself, or you are secretly a bitter and jealous man. Of course you will deny either accusation, but you would not feel the need to post such remarks unless one of those were true.
Progamers come from all walks of life. Kingdom went from being a progamer to being a university student to being a progamer again. Especially among the earlier progamers, a lot of them are people who are really good with computers in general and can transition into jobs that put that into use. Some also have programming experience. These are not glamorous job opportunities, but they aren't burger flipping either. Typical white collar work. Or do you honestly compare everyone with being a corporate exec or a doctor or a lawyer?
Among top gamers, the gaming industry itself will call them back for game design. I believe Guillame Patry does that these days.

He's a great BW player for winning WCG, but why try to defend him? I never met him, but Ogogo was arrested for theft and Pro Teams not wanting him for his manner.. that says a lot about his character. I'd hide my camera too if he was at my house. lol

NOOOOOO!!! damn that sucks for Ogogo T.T

He has never earned much from Brood War, as far as I know. He has only achieved the WCG championship and won few games on tv (vs Boxer!). I think he couldnt find a team after he got kicked of Samsung (?) - and other teams always offered him the pathetic sallaries (basically playing for food), so his father made him refuse the offers. And even if he agreed - it would not necessarily mean success. People dont need 1000s of programers.. Not everyone can become a Boxer and the TV simply shows the best - there are no "regional leagues" from which one can make a leaving. And when you leave you dont have any useful skills to put into the CV.
We need good lawyers and doctors however etc. and someone training 10hours per day with such devotion would probably become a real proffestional at any occupation - and be much more useful to the society. Actually, there are many people who dont achieve anything in their lifes, so why couldnt he find even a simple job (salesman or something like that) instead of being a thief?
There are so many progamers or people related to BW that such a thing would happen sooner or later due to the numbers (that crazy guy from Poland went nuts in Korea too and he got busted for theft when he came back). Who will divorce first? Who will be the first to get a baby? (probably some retired pro got one allready)

Have they ever hired anyone, or was this just some rumor?

It states "Mr. Lee" and not much else so ... probably him.
Damn, that sucks

Ogogo was a zerg player with very good mutalisk control. He was one of the few that could play well on island maps - he made other (mostly european however) players look like complete newbs when he dominated them on "impossible to win" island maps mostly due his trademark muta micro (some sort of July zerg prototype, or follower of Yellows muta-harrass tactics). On normal maps he was an "average" progamer zerg, playing mostly the now forgotten low-econ lurker-ling strat in ZvT, mass mutas in ZvZ (with ability to snipe the scourge) and pretty traditional ZvP (I think there was a replay where he massed mutas vs protoss and killed few archons - pretty entertaining).
Ogogo produced some quality replays - like a game where he managed to stop an early bunker rush on LT 6/12 (during the era when terrans said that TvZ is easy - "just bunker rush and FE" - who said that btw?).
He often played with European players, due to lack of korean training partners.
edit: forgot to mention his trademark drops in ZvT and ZvP

Okay. Fine. Poor ogogo, a shame he didn't put his APM to better use.

Fruitless or not, that is the worst example you could come up with. That's like my friend saying he can do well in life because Bill Gates dropped out of college and did well. No.

I think anyone who has the willpower and desire/motivation to get to the TOP of anything, whether it is progaming or otherwise, can do it in any other facet of life they are interested in.

I thought ogogo was known for his drops in ZvT. The drops would keep the terran contained to keep protecting his base and he wouldn't have the chance to come out...Thats all I remember of his play =P
