Hello! A lot of people have issues with the latest version of Hamachi not being able to see games in Starcraft. This is due to the way Starcraft broadcasts games, it uses the IP from the first network adapter it finds and the latest version of Hamachi no longer automatically translates the IP.
---------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE (Feb 2013) ---------------------------------------------------------- There is now a much easier way to use this. You need Chaoslauncher or BWLauncher and the ForceHamachi plugin from http://r-1.ch/forcehamachi-1.2.zip. Then just enable the plugin and you're set! Updated to work with new Hamachi IPs beginning with 25.x.x.x. ----------------------------------------------------------
Old instructions follow if you don't want to use a launcher. + Show Spoiler +I made a program called ForceBindIP which allows you to force an application (in this case, Starcraft) onto a specific IP address (in this case, your Hamachi IP). Here's how to use it: 1. Download and install ForceBindIP using the installer: http://www.r1ch.net/stuff/forcebindip/ ( direct download link) 2. Run Hamachi and take note of your Hamachi IP: ![[image loading]](http://r-1.ch/hamachi2.png) 3. Create a new shortcut to Starcraft.exe: ![[image loading]](http://r-1.ch/hamachi1.png) 4. Place "ForceBindIP 5.x.x.x" before the path to Starcraft.exe, where 5.x.x.x is your Hamachi IP: ![[image loading]](http://r-1.ch/hamachi3.png) (NOTE: Replace the 5.124.181.52 with YOUR Hamachi IP from Step 2) 5. Give it a descriptive name. This shortcut will NOT be able to play regular Battle.Net or UDP games, it will only work over Hamachi. ![[image loading]](http://r-1.ch/hamachi4.png) That's it! Use the new shortcut when playing on Hamachi and it will ensure your Starcraft is set to use the Hamachi interface and everything should work fine.

I am not 100% positive here, put can you not just reprioritize your network adapters so Hamachi *is* the first one?
Quote from Hamachi:
# Some games are not intelligent when it comes to having more than one network adapter, and you may need to re-prioritize your network adapter order. Go into Network Connections > Advanced > Advanced Settings > and put the Hamachi adapter at the top of the list.
At least this worked for me so far.
Other than that, great work once again R1CH, way to help the community.

The downside to this is any LAN traffic will then also try to go over the Hamachi interface first which can cause problems eg with Windows file sharing. By moving Hamachi to the top you're essentially making it the default adapter system-wide which is probably not what you want unless you're doing a full blown VPN setup.

That star is WELL deserved!
Great job! :D

my hamachi seems to work, should i get this anyway? or wouldd it jsut be a waste of time.

Not trying to get off subject or offend you. But I think is a lot easier to just keep the 1.0.1.5 and not update to the latest version because it works fine and you don't have to adjust anything.

This explains it all!!!! I can now play like normal again!!! There is not enough HDspace on the TL server to store all the exclamation marks I feel right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3

umm im getting unable to join and vice versa for the other person, the thing allowed us to see each other's games but this is happening now. Any ideas how to fix?
|
Will this allow people who have trouble hosting to host games?
|
Yeah sorry, but 1.0.1.3 and 1.0.1.5 work just fine.
Good work though

Good Work! very helpful program

im going to test this out thanks!

I made this into a BWL plugin for those of you who want to use this in combination with windowed mode or other plugins. Just drop it into your launcher directory and tick the box to enable. Note, Hamachi keeps the 5.x.x.x interface active even if Hamachi is not running, so you'll need to untick the box if you want to play normally.

Hm, I pasted forcehamachi in the plugins folder under SC, but the hamachi still doesn't appear. Am I over looking something?
|
It's a BWLauncher / ChaosLauncher plugin, not AdvLoader. It goes in the same folder as ChaosLauncher.exe.

Ok im having problems with forcebindip After running it I'm having HUGE lag ingame, single multi, and over LAN (which is multi but i felt like clarifying) so i try running without using the shortcut and i still have the same problem. I reinstall starcraft into a different location and the problem is solved, all the lag is gone Soon after I used forcebindip again and run into the same problem, I go into my system32 folder and uninstall forcebindip change the shortcut's target but i still have the same issue. Forcebindip does SOMETHING to my Brood War that leaves a lasting affect on my FPS does ANYONE have an idea how this is happening?
|
ForceBindIP is completely temporary, it's something else causing your problems.
|
Well I wont disagree that its temporary but this only happens when i run ForcebindIP even though I delete it afterwards its got to be related somehow :S cant just be coincidental

I can't even see my friend's game and vice versa, we tried ALL.
Both using the latest Hamachi, SC 1.15.2 with Chaoslauncher and the ForceHamachi plugin. And with Hamachi in top priority connections.
Maybe if I try with an older version of Hamachi?
WHY I CANT EVEN SEE MY FRIENDS GAME?!

Just use version 1.0.1.5 it works 100%, have fun http://filehippo.com/download_hamachi/2114/

don't mean to totally bash it, but can anyone confirm if ForceHamachi actually does anything?
I had it on but friends weren't able to see my game that I made. It still seems quite random

Ok so Im a little confused.. Ive been using the ICCup launcher to run SC:BW which obviously no longer works. I have the 1.01 version of Hamachi which I set to be at the top of my network connects as I dont use a LAN for anything else but I cannot see any games in the LAN(UDP) connection tab in Starcraft. I downloaded the link at the top but I am not sure if the launcer I am using is compatible with the Hamachi plugin and I have dont know how to enable plug-ins as per the instructions.. Im really lost.. how do I get Hamachi to work?? Please help 1.16 B.net East is atrocious
|
how do you get that shortcut creating wizard? i dont find it anywhere and forcebind has been (automatically) dLed to a a windows folder. i created the shortcut manually from the starcraft folder and changed the path by adding forcebind + hamachi ip ...but it doesnt work, when i try to access UDP Lan i get an error message.

It seems like in my group of friends, I am the only one that cannot see other people's games, even with the forcebindip. It also happens that I am the only one with Vista as an OS. Does the forcebindip not work on Vista?

As per R1CH's request, I'm posting this here
Hello TL!
I was trying to download Chaoslauncher from here:
http://winner.cspsx.de/Starcraft/Tool/Chaoslauncher.zip
But the link appears to be broken :S Could anyone provide me the zip file plz? For version 1.16.1 that is.
I was told there might be a problem with the server being down because the season ended but I really wanna play over hamachi in the meantime. Also, because latency sucks where I'm at, ICCup is not an option to play with my neighbors :S
Thanks in advanced!

help plz, i thought i had this problem at first so i tried the chaos thing, but my problem is still there. the problem is with the forcebind bw with hamachi, bw will run, click multiplayer is fine, bw is fine, right when i click udp or iccup, the whole thing will change colors and disappear the next second. Searched for it from task manager, gone. Trying reinstalling, firewall (sort of), and restarting. Single player works with the bw with hamachi, normal bw has working multiplayer and singleplayer, but bw with hamachi=fail. help plz p.s. how do u fix that weird color change thing when switching
|
Should this plugin let you play LAN games on Hamachi? But AFAIK Hamachi don't let broadcasts through...

Forcebindip isn't working right to anyone who uses it, and I suspect its because of the new version. Is it possible to get a link to the 1.1 version, or 1.2 (not 1.2a)
|
Ok I'll spill what i have atm.
Newest hamachi here, all my mates are using it and it fully work, whether its the add-on in OP or forcebind.
Works for different SC versions, I play my friends using a stripped 100mb version (easier to pass around), it also works for full version as well.
My other friend using windows 7 said you don't need Forcebind etc you just need to set priority with the networks. I don't know much about this but i can look into it on request.
Hope this semi helps/informative.

ForceHamachi works fine but sometimes you need to start BW twice as the first time will fail. Any way to fix this?

No one has an older version of forcebind floating around..? It would be greatly appreciated
|
Thank you very much! This deserves a bump.
Im finally able to play BW thru hamachi 1.0.1.5 after applying the forcehamachi fix. Iccup is too laggy for me

Hamachi now seems to use a 25.x.x.x IP instead of a 5.x.x.x, making the ForceHamachi plugin not work. ForceBindIP does work, but I need to use Windowed Mode. Does anybody know of an alternative plugin?

Both me and my partner tried moving Hamachi to the top of that list, to no avail.
I also tried changing the metric of the Hamachi adapter, but the output of "route print" as described in the second answer of that thread never changes regardless of what I change the metric to.
By the way I'm using Windows 7, I wonder if setting metrics on Windows 7 simply doesn't work, or requires more steps. The copypasta in the thread implied Windows XP.
This is the window to change the metric:

Changing the "Interface metric" to 1 doesn't seem to have any effect; internet browser works fine. Changing the Default gateways Metric to 1 makes internet browser stop working. In any case I'd like to have regular Internet working while playing SC.
I didn't see anything obvious in the Client Software interface or in the web interface for Hamachi to change the IP to a "different network".

Thanks.
Didn't have a chance to try it yet, but the Chaoslauncher description isn't updated (still says 1.0.0.1 and 5.x.x.x in the description).
EDIT: Confirmed, it works. Thanks again.

Yeah I just did a quick binary patch, didn't change anything else (don't have the source handy right now).
