1. How do progamers make most of their money? Donations? YouTube views? Do they make a significant amount from YouTube?

2. Are the earnings sustainable? Are some streamers leaving the game for financial reasons?

good question

i used to dl reps off of ygosu etc., i wonder if theres still a similar site for reps..

Is ygosu just a general message board, or is it all about Starcraft? Liquipedia is great for some info but some of it is dated or unclear. I got a bunch of replays off bwreplays and it’s been immensely helpful in clarifying things I was trying to learn from liquipedia.

umm...
I must say. No matter what Web site you go to in Korea, it will be hard for anyone to get a replay of a progamer.

The reason is that they are very sensitive to replay.
(Strategic exposure or consideration for the other party, etc.)

Also, Ygosu is no longer a friendly site.

There are still many good people. There are a lot of bad StarCraft 1 fans compared to the past. I don't think you'll be much of a help to get into the site.

In fact, there are quite a few of the gamers and fans who don't use Ygosu.

I hope that some retired pros will give their replays to the community. Replays are an incredible resource.

Well this is very interesting info, and it somewhat confirms my theory of why there is no new blood in StarCraft 2

I always felt that back in the very early days of SC2 (2010-2012) that the Korean Under-18 crowd chose League of Legends en masse instead of StarCraft 2, and this along with the 2010 matchfixing scandal in Brood War severely stifled the long-term growth of the Korean SC2 scene, putting it in the situation it is now.

I would be curious to know if there is any kind of favoritism for Riot Games over Blizzard if indeed there is an air of anger & dissatisfaction from Korean games towards Blizzard.

Just wanted to hop in here to say thank you very much for taking the time to talk to us about the game we love, the players we follow, and cluing us into what's going on in Korea. It is hugely appreciated <3

Now that I'm already posting, a question came to me. How do Koreans view the foreign scene? Like, are they thinking "what is wrong with these chobos" or have recent appearances by Eonzerg, Dewalt, and Cadenzie in Korea increased the interest in the foreign scene? Anything you can share

I don't know if there are different grades for different servers. But we're a tough guy, because we have a lot of professional gamers.

1. You're right. They are making money from donations and YouTube profits.

2. Even professional gamers in Korea are considered to be thoroughly competent.
If the gamers who were famous during their pro gamers were very profitable because they had a lot of fans.
For example, "Flash", "Stork", "bisu", "Jaedong", etc.

However, gamers who were not famous need good skills to earn their income.
Those who don't do so often end broadcasting for financial reasons.

They are people who make money with their skills and skills.

It is likely to be a difficult problem.

Korean gamers and fans don't care much about foreigners' skills.

I would be interested if there was a player in a foreign country comparable to "Flash."

But I am interested when they come to Korea and broadcast.

Actually, "Dewalt" and "Eonzerg" have lived and aired in Korea.

At that time, they and Korean gamers played a lot of games.

I think most people agree that Soma (박상현) is the #1 amateur player right now and another zerg, Zelot (서문지훈), is maybe #2. Who do koreans consider to be the best amateur Protoss and Terran players in korea?

Zerg = #1 Soma (박상현) , #2 Zelot (서문지훈) , #3 Pitbullterrier (김대한)
Protoss = #1 Mighty (이광용)
Terran = #1 Shinee (샤이니) , #2 Bishop (정민기) , #3 Byul (강태완)

The best as an amateur.

Back in the 2015 (I guess) Zero said in his interview that successful bjs got even more richer and not popular bjs became poorer. Is it actual? Does the korean community / top broadcasters support the less popular players?
2nd question. It seems like proleague format spon match takes place during the prime time every day with top players (usually 4v4 or 5v5). But it's not enough place sometimes for all current top skilled broadcasters. How do they select(recruit) players? And those who arent taken in, do they get disappointed because of that?

=> yes. true.

Does the korean community / top broadcasters support the less popular players?
=> No

=>
The criteria for the selection of competitors are as follows:

1. Interracial balance.
ex ) 5:5 = 4T 3P 3Z or 3T 4P 3Z, etc.

2. The players' game skills.

Players who are not selected naturally feel sad.

But they don't have to do it because the players who aren't chosen get together and play another game. There is nothing wrong with it.

Hello!
Thank you for coming here!
I have a lot of questions=).

1.Do you believe a team league could ever start again?

2. Is there interest from old sponsors to for example sponsor just a player? Ever any rumors about old sponsors from the Kespa years?

For example, KT to sponsor Flash again? Do you think Afreeca be okay with that on their streams? (My hope here is that if top players got big sponsors back, perhaps teams could be started around them)

3. When KT changed name to KT Fingerboom. Was it funny to koreans? Did people think it sounded like something sexual? Also, if I go to Seoul again is there any place I can go to buy jackets from old pro teams(I was a Khan fan. love Stork).

4. Are there famous starcraft1 related jokes/ sayings that are used in Korea by more than just fans? Like, Firebathero throwing socks, or that incident on Bnet attack with Hwasin when someone wrote "sexsexpussyhair"...?

5. Has Rain talked about his match against Light in the KSL finals?

6. Flash and Jaedong still has fans. But does new players get fans?

7. How does the Afreeca chat react if a good Korean player loses to a foreigner on stream?

8. What did the korean commentators say during Light vs Rain when the game looked like a bugged replay?

9. Does Korean Starcraft players want a 2v2 ranked ladder? Do they go to Blizzard forums when they want to give information about a problem in the game or for example 2v2 ladder?

10. I've been to Seoul 2 times, I want to go there again. Is there anything you would recommend to a Starcraft fan to do in Korea?
Not my chair. Not my problem. That's what I say

Which game do "new" players prefer, sc2 or bw? Young? I am not interested in other games information.

How do you describe "the best" player? (like flash) Gosu not (it's general for all very good player), page 1 word (i dont want to name it) not.

Are you allowed to look into flash's eyes, when he would see it? Ok let me explain, I know it's bold to look at someone too long in korea, especially someone of higher status, age, perhaps gender. I am seeing flash as "higher status".
I wish I had quality over quantity | "The point of Sc<x> is that your skill a constant WIP - which provides that unique joy of the game - not to post which rank you are in a this moment"

= I think that is unlikely. When companies sponsor games. Consider the image of the game.
He had a pretty good image at the time of the pro league. I even made a military game team.
(Air force ACE)
But they had a lot of incidents, including match fixing. I think it's hard to get any more investment.
I think they would be happier to stay at Afreecatv.com

3. When KT changed name to KT Fingerboom. Was it funny to koreans? Did people think it sounded like something sexual? Also, if I go to Seoul again is there any place I can go to buy jackets from old pro teams(I was a Khan fan. love Stork).

= Their goods are no longer available. Because there is no place to buy things.

4. Are there famous starcraft1 related jokes/ sayings that are used in Korea by more than just fans? Like, Firebathero throwing socks, or that incident on Bnet attack with Hwasin when someone wrote "sexsexpussyhair"...?

= There is no more famous anecdote than the two events. The events were Legend.

5. Has Rain talked about his match against Light in the KSL finals?

= We didn't talk about it in the final. Since then, there have been comments made on personal broadcasts.
He said. I felt that "Light" has practiced a lot. Since I didn't practice much, my judgment was clouded throughout the game.
I'm sorry to be the runner-up. I don't care much because I'm not the one to dwell on the past.

6. Flash and Jaedong still has fans. But does new players get fans?

= I don't think there will be a new player.
Even if there are new players, there won't be many fans.
But for example, players like "Fantasy", "TY" , "Stats" , "Maru" and "Soo" who are currently active in StarCraft 2.
If they retire from StarCraft 2 and do StarCraft 1 personal broadcast on "Afreecatv.com" there will be many fans.

7. How does the Afreeca chat react if a good Korean player loses to a foreigner on stream?

= They will have a lot of concern for the foreign players.
And will continue to arrange a game.
Chatting may be... I think there are chats that tease the gamer who lost to the foreigner.
And there will be chatting that is surprising to the appearance of foreigners with good skills.

8. What did the korean commentators say during Light vs Rain when the game looked like a bugged replay?

= It's hard to answer because I don't understand your question.
Because I am not fluent in English. You have to ask questions in detail to answer them. I'm sorry.

9. Does Korean Starcraft players want a 2v2 ranked ladder? Do they go to Blizzard forums when they want to give information about a problem in the game or for example 2v2 ladder?

= They want not only 2vs2 but also 3vs3 4vs4. But Blizzard doesn't listen. Yeah, like what you say they are on Blizzard Forum are completed.

10. I've been to Seoul 2 times, I want to go there again. Is there anything you would recommend to a Starcraft fan to do in Korea?

= First of all, competition is open to the public think it essential. Their high quality that watching a live game is quite meaningful.

Also, it would be good to go in the museum. sports e Probably know where if you can look up what you can.

= Unfortunately, young Korean gamers are not interested in StarCraft 1 and StarCraft 2.

StarCraft 2 is not famous and StaCraft 1 is the entry barrier is too high.

= Korean StarCraft fans have the words "Flsah" and "Bisu." It's "GOD."
