Does anyone else think that this would be kickass?
Sure there aren't all that many games played, but wouldn't it be frickin' awesome to go and say, "Ah yeah, I just signed Pusan for 50k, and now he's in my 2v2 team with Savior"?

Actually, I have no idea how fantasy leagues work at all, but the idea of a Starcraft Fantasy League is sexual.

Edit: If this has already been done before, then I'm a dumbass.

well the only "stats" you can really follow are wins and losses? It's tough b/c players you'd draft aren't guaranteed playing time in any way

You know what?

That would be incredibly neat

same here, I'm always going for Boxer and other people I like, except I like it when Bisu beats Savior . This is different than the fusiondf guy posting before me, saying he would vote against Boxer to win the liquibet!!

I always vote KTF and Ra even though it probably loses me about 50-100 spots per liquibet season.

I will never, ever fully trust ra. If he goes 16-0, I will still be nervous as hell when voting for him.

Hmm I think this could work. The trick would be to think up a creative scoring system, so it's not just a matter of predicting who will win and who will lose, because liquibet has that covered.

I was thinking of something along the lines of this site:http://www.fantasycongress.com/fc/ has anyone tried it? If they can make that work surely we can make fantasy starcraft work.

Here's what I have in mind. At the beginning of the proleague season, you pick a team of 6. 2 players for each race, and for each race, you pick one veteran who's been playing a long time and one rookie that hasn't. That would help make sure that people don't all pick the same players.

Then, as the season goes on, you get points like:
1 point for every win in proleague
1 point if that player's team wins a match
1 extra point for winning an ace match
1 extra point if their team wins proleague
5 extra points if they win the match that wins proleague
1/2 point if that player is part of a winning 2v2 team
1/2 point if they win a showmatch like superfight or whatever

and maybe some stupid points like
1 point for using a really cheesy rush
1 point if they win a game by complete luck
1 point if they win a really one sided game
1/4 point for playing, even if they lose

Thoughts?

I like the idea of basing points on how they win a game, but that would get really complicated if we most quantify every aspect of a game. Should we award points for really close games? What if one player wins an upset? Do we factor in map imbalances?

generally speaking;

-you get a salary cap
-pick X players
-players get points based on stats
-you get ranked by total points

The problem with starcraft is there aren't stats to generate points for, only win/loss. Whereas, say basketball you have points/assists/rebounds etc etc.

Ok but how do you decide when players play, who they play, who wins..?

just do a weekly random fixture, player with more points from their players during that week wins.

have a ladder etc.

Well you'd wanna keep it kinda simple, so I guess the only question is could you judge the issue pretty easily and would it be fun? So, some of the ones I suggested might not be possible, and I don't know how you could fairly judge whether a game was an upset. You could do "really close games" though, with an extra point if they go over, say, and hour.

For map imbalance, you could also give an extra point if at least 100 matches have been played on the map and that players matchup was won less than 40% (meaning, if your player is Z and they win against a P on a map where has only won 38% of ZvP, you get an extra point).

Do we know how much all the proleague players earn (in salary)?

I see...

Maybe a team could be set up to rate people, on a scale of like 1-10 in each matchup based on the last two or three games they played and that could be included too?

of the common pro's, yes.

but it can just be an ambigious amount, much like in the way sandlot had X points to distribute amongst X players.

Usually in fantasy games people just turn that into a dollar value, no difference really though.

basically, the more people that choose a player, the more expensive he is, the fewer the cheaper... so it's kinda like the stock market in that sense.

I remember there was a simulator DoubleStormIII (OH I MISS YOU!!!!) posted where a Korean made a Teamleague (by Teamleague, I mean oldschool MBC) simulator, where you can pick your team, pick your players, and see if they win or not. I believe this was calculated by map statistics and general skill level (which was hidden).

If you search it up, then web.archive.org it, I'm sure you can try to use it.
