It's pretty interesting to compare the prize distribution with something like GSL, which gives ₩40,000,000 for first place but is ₩170,000,000 in total. I think it's better to not be so top heavy.
₩60,000,000 is the largest prize money for first place of any Brood War tournament in history. Unless I am mistaken, whoever wins this will end up as the all time leader of prize money earned after the end of professional Brood War.
This tournament will go down in history just for that fact alone. May the best player win.
I say this every time but the preliminaries are going to be fucking insane and stacked as fuck. Especially now they have an additional qualifier in Daegu, that means 4 less from Seoul and Busan will be able to qualify from those qualifiers. Not sure how many people are willing to travel to Daegu.

Yep, overall prize pool, while still very large, is still dwarfed by the ~₩120,000,000 of the KT-KTF Premier Leagues of 2003/2004 (where most of the prizes came from winnings and bonuses).
But what Letmelose said was: Never was the prize higher for finishing first place. This tournament gives 60,000,000₩ your linked one 'only' ₩50,000,000

Oh, the dollar amounts are different, I think it has to do with the fluctuation in the exchange rates then. In terms of KRW, it is the biggest for first place, but not in USD.
Apparently Afreeca gonna start offering 1080p streaming at 8000kbps to let people enjoy StarCraft: Remastered's graphics ~_~ (unlikely us lowly foreigners will be able to enjoy it )

So were back at hoping somebody will restream it like old times?
That's an insane prize increase and first place prize pool is huge wow. I'm really hoping the pros practice hardcore for this. Don't think it'll be as easy for Flash this time around

he said offering so I presume we'll see still have the usual options and the 1080p option is on top? Hoping so at least.
The map pool looks nice. I always loved La Mancha and New Bloody Ridge. I don't really like Neo Aztec, all I remember from that map is that Terrans were rarely ever played in it.
An additional qualifier in Daegu? That sounds brilliant :o Don't really understand the logistics of such planning, though - wouldn't hosting 2 qualis in Seoul be a smarter solution, given most players live in / around Seoul anyway?

Just realized is that Flash is still sponsored by KT, is that correct? This is just based on his afreeca home page which has an ongoing KT giga sponsorship. Meanwhile I don't see SKT sponsoring Bisu or Samsung sponsoring Stork.

Seoul to Daegu is a short and cheap bus ride
Yeah direct route under 2 hours transit time. Anyone serious would be crazy not to travel for it.

I guess they learned nothing about the sustainability of the Korean scene in all esports when they decide to give whoever wins 60% of the prize money, I'm sure Flash would be fine only taking down half that if it keeps more players interested in playing at the highest level
I'm really looking forward to this. Remastered is so much nicer to spectate, the prize pool is pretty large and should have all the players good and motivated. Going to be hype AF.

I also think it would make sense to be more evenly distributed, as the players don't have teams and sponsors like during the kespa era and thus don't have income outside of of streaming and tourneys. Maybe it will motivate everyone to practice harder? They should call it the "Beat-Flash-for-Big-Bucks-ASL".
CB is like, infinitely better than FS right now and even that is getting overplayed. Bring back sniper ridge, jade, shit like that. Tau Cross I'm fine with .

Jangbi must be thinking the same while looking at Flash The guy just knows how to win and when, he doesn't even have to be the best to do it lol
He looks really out of shape though. When he first returned to BW he seemed to play really well, but after taking such a long break before the military and now that he's finally back his play doesn't seem sharp at all.
I think he needs a little more time to power up if he wants to win or qualify. But he is a two time champion so maybe he just needs this motivation and months time
They should introduce this maps, which are much better than the old crap that they want to use, with minor changes and adding "neo" or "2.0" to the map's name Crown and Sceptre Gemlong In the way of Eddyn Reap of the Storm Kingdom of Clouds
For last, are the qualifiers completly open? if they are, does this means that even Savior can participate?, he's been laddering on SC Remastered, and he's in the top 50 in the Korean ladder, i'm sure he could qualify, but the problem is... are people going to bitch about it enough to prevent him from playing?, i really don't see the bad thing about him participating, i just want to see good players, they guy already legally payed for what he did, and he was banned from Kespa, which is disbanded
SaviOr will be welcomed back into Brood War when Life is welcomed back to SC2.
KeSPa still exists and still has some influence over both StarCraft games. Just because there's no more teams doesn't mean KeSPa can't prevent matchfixers from competing again, because they can...

No. Savior cannot compete or stream Starcraft (and any other competitive games). Afreeca and most of the streaming websites complied with KESPA's decision on banning Savior from competing, monetizing on gaming content. Also, KESPA did not disband.
As much as I love savior for what he brought to the game (when he actually played to win...), most people will always see the man who killed professional brood war. Afreeca forbid him from streaming so I doubt they'll allow him to compete. Asian culture is kinda like that, mess up once get fucked for life. Doesn't matter if he was legally punished for what he did or not. I remember when sonic tried to invite him to an SSL and got the sickest shitstorm on the korean message boards...
Why do people still want to let SaviOr compete that bad? He compromised the integrity of the sport, should he be let play again, every time he lost a match people would be joking/wondering if he lost that on purpose, since he's done that before, and that kinda discussion hurts the community.
"Mess up once get fucked for life"?? He didn't "mess up", he knew what he was doing, he got multiple other people involved in match fixing, "get fucked for life" how? He can't play StarCraft, he can do literally anything else but play the one game that he cheated in. StarCraft isn't even as big of a deal anymore as it was during when he played, it's time to move on for him.
That's what i hate about modern culture, all act like crazy feminists, thinking they are judges and the most righteous persons, who can say and do whatever they want and impose their shitty mentallity and principles over others just by social pressure. i would let Savior play, because legally he has already paid for what he did, and has the rigth to have a second chance in life. Just imagine if people were sentenced for life for every shit they do, most people cheats on others, take advantage of others, or others has done worst shit than what Savior did and have been able to get back to society as a functional menber, because they got allowed to get a second chance, just because a person is publicly known doesn't mean they have to be punished beyond than what they were legally punished

Yeah he made a mistake, that's what I would call messing up. Do you honestly believe he doesn't regret what he did? And yes he is fucked for life. Choosing to become a progamer pretty much means you don't have a shot at any other career. He is driving limos now and that's pretty much one of the best jobs a pro gamer is gonna get. Besides when he went to the military, he has never stopped playing. He obviously still loves the game. He is fucked for life in the sense that he will never be able to do the one thing he is good at again.
Besides, this is completely off topic and the Korean community will never allow him to compete again anyway.

He's doing perfectly fine, actually better than most -VOD So please don't fret over Savior, "the broker behind the match fixing that demolished the BW scene". Also, he was exempt from his military obligations (Bad Knee)
Making a mistake would be something that you either didn't know was not allowed, or did something by accident. He did something HE KNEW was illegal and banned, for MONEY. If you pick a career that means you "don't have a shot at any other career" maybe you should not throw away it like that? He fucked himself up. Would you let a convicted child molester work at an elementary school or kindergarten? A convicted embezzler to work as an accountant?
This is not the time or place to debate Savior and his punishment. Go to the other threads or create a new one - but I must say that the topic has been discussed time and time again.

Yeah i was just asking if the qualifiers are totally open, or if there are people who's banned, like Savior. I also gave my thougths about over used and shitty "new" maps, which are the same things used like 10 years ago with just minor changes
90% of the people who try to "defend" or advocate for savior are usually the ones who only do so to be contrarian or just give sympathy to someone they're barely aware of.
he's a bastard. he's never apologized. his own coach put his career and crediblity on the line defending him in public and in the media, passionately saying that it was not in his character to cheat.
incredibly shameful. and he milked his old fans for luxury beauty products for years before he was banned from streaming.

I don't give a crap how he's in his personal life, all what i care about is how he plays, i only know the savior i saw on TV. But Coreans seem to care too much about people they barely known rigth?(unless you are a relative, or friend of him you can't type shit either). and i was just asking, because i don't really know if the qualifiers are open for EVERYONE or not
Does anyone happen to know if you need korean citizenship/alien card for the qualifier? I would get absolutely rekt in the first match, but could be a fun experience nonetheless.

Nope, You don't need korean citizenship/permanent residency to participate. starleague.kr (Use google translate)
All you need is a working phone number and email address.
Any idea which patch they're gonna be playing on? There have been a bunch of updates/bug fixes in the last couple weeks with another one around the corner..
