Good to know there is a God-like objective arbiter of Brood War truth here to educate us with immutable facts.
If only you were around when KeSPA still existed, perhaps you would have been able to teach them as well, because they didn't understand either...

When a 2015 account says "whatever youre [sic] opinion is irrelevant" to people who have been playing and following this game for over 15 years, most of whom feel that we're sick of FS, that's when it got personal.
If you can't handle the heat don't stand in the kitchen. Better yet, don't make such a shameful display of ignorance as if you know anything about this game or its scene.
This is not StarCraft 2, where every single map needs to be the same and play out the same way with boring easy 3 bases and no fun allowed (because otherwise it would be broken and everyone would cry on b.net forums). This is BW. It's not imperative for every single map to have 50% stats in every matchup. It's also not imperative to keep playing a map from 8 years ago when many other good maps have been made since, and many of those tested in KeSPA tournaments as well.
I am done arguing with ignorant new users. I hope K.H.J will steer the thread back in a good direction with some useful info.

bw since 98 btw never played sc2 never will (really funny how u didn read my name or dont get the reference towards bisu hehe: only star !!)
you're mixing up a couple of things its not if you're feeling tired or bored wit a certain map it is whatever that map can offer in terms of balance to a tournament that's why they are so important (how is that personal attack lol) its not a coincidence they put f.s as a tiebreaker
but i guess that point goes over your head im not arguing with you either

The map is well balanced and is/was being played a lot on streams. It also feels newer than FS which has been around forever and which isn't as balanced as it was once believed. . They Will put cb in forsure dont worry "Which isnt as balanced as once believed" F.s is a map that is proven to be balanced yet TLrs have tried the hardest to skew the statistics in in favour of terras in Terran in TvZ pulling stats from a poorly performing and small zerg (overall) pool on afreeca vs a top tier Terran pool dat is always steady in top 5 ranking spon matches in my opinion foreigners are in a tunnelvision they gererly maps that are overplayed are hated by that community and TVZ mech switch is to hard right so we end up by these accusations regularly biased by feelings and opinios unable to make a realistic judgement The map definitely feels Terran favored tbh. Also I recall PvZ stats being fairly balanced too right? Which would lead to map being skewed in favor of protoss.

While I haven't played on fighting spirit as much as most (more of a python fan boy), I don't find it to be a good map for Terran. It might be one of my least favorite maps to play, actually. In T vs Z, a couple lurkers completely lock down an expansion. Don't even need defilers. Every expansion is minerals on top of a ramp. Can't even drop the expansions, since the ramp covers everything, practically.
Anytime I see the 5rax build, I can't help but to think "fighting spirit made me do this." And, versus Toss, that map is near impossible to split in half for mortals. Any map that is hard to split is naturally Toss favored, imo.
Circuit Breaker is not only a far more "splittable map" but good Terrans get 4 bases for free. The only downside is the third is mineral only. I guess the unbuildable terrain for turrets isn't ideal. But when you're able to max then push, not the biggest of deals.

ASL tier and point calculation.
Champion 4000 Final 2500 Ro4 1500 Ro8 1000 Ro16 500 Ro24 300
Previous competition = x0.9
So sum of points is, ASL3 + ASL2 x 0.9 + ASL1 x0.81 + VANT x0.729

Something interesting is in this article.
1. Blizzard's license fee for 1 competition is 100,000,000 won. (1$ = 1,000~1,200 usually.)
2. Every competition, host company usually spend 400,000,000won. (Not including license charge)
3. New WCG which i mentioned before re-consider SCR tournament

They charge 100k so Afreeca can promote their game? Jesus christ that's ridiculous. I'm shocked that anyone is even interested in running any sc tournament. Kinda ridiculous that they have to spent 25% of their budget on getting a license. If that's the kinda cash blizz is asking for, no wonder kespa/ogn/mbc refused to pay.
|
Wow that's insane. Why does blizzard charge so much zzzz.
|
Because Blizzard isn't interested in this game being an eSport. They're interested in it making them as much money in the short term as it possibly can. They're doing the same thing with Overwatch, where you need to pay a hefty licensing fee. For their big league, teams have to buy spots. As a result some teams just said fuck it and dropped the roster.
It's just what they do.
|
But didn't sonic once have to get a license because his prize pool exceeded 5k? Paying 100k so you can award 5k to your players seems really ridiculous. Boy do I miss esports before 2010. Yea devs didn't give a shit and we had to deal with a lot of bullshit, but at least people could reasonably run tournaments. Huge kudos to Afreeca for even running the ASL. No wonder OGN has been so cautious about doing sc again...

LOL at the people saying Blizzard loses money on ESPORTS by propping tournaments up.
|
Wtf 88k for a tournament where the award for first place is 50k? I mean this isn't even Overwatch, what a load of rubbish.
|
Lol ASL does free advertising for blizzard yet they have to pay blizzard?I really hate blizzard, such a greedy company...
