Hello I'm new here so please excuse me if I post in the wrong section...
I play SC1 since a few days & now I want to use hotkeys like CTRL+0-9 to quickly select a bunch of soldiers. My problem is the following : when I select a group of marines by exemple, I press Control+2, and then I try the hotkey by pressing 2 & it does not work ! Instead my camera move downward & the group is not selected
Please help me

Are you using the numpad? If so you need NumLock on, because otherwise the 2 is the same key as down arrow.

Ok thanks, I find another solution : I was holding 2 on the numpad as you said it, but the "2" key above the keypad works I already have Numlock on and it wasn't working, I tried to turn it off & it work even worse (the only effet is to move the camera) whereas when it is On, I must hotkey the group with the numeric key above & select with numpad.... Strange keyboard
Thanks a lot

Yes I know but if I don't use it I must have capslock all the time to make numeric key work, is there a way to avoid that ?

That shouldn't be an issue, sounds like you just need to clean your keyboard or remove the caps lock key all together.....or just buy a new Keyboard. If you have a Keyboard where you can customize it, just disable the Capslock key.

Thanks, I will play with capslock on
but if I disable it my hotkey won't work anymore...

i have a similar issue with keys not working unless I do something specific. I have to be press shift + alt 3 times to switch to the English language setting I surmise. Then I can assign the hotkeys 7-0 with my right control key, else it doesn't work.
I think you'll have to try to tinker with your language settings, keyboard settings,... and you might get it to work.

I think that it will still easier to just let the capslock On, & deal with it (B-Royal I'm from France we can speak french if you want)

Why would you want to use the numpad? You'd have to move your hand away from home row, making actions take longer than they would need to.
For example, a common move is to recall a group (1) and issue a command like attack (a)
so if you were going to 1a, you'd have to move your hand right (possibly look to see where the 1 key is) then move it back to press a? That's very inefficient compared to just moving your finger up a few keys.

You shouldn't need to have capslock on. That is not normal. Check your keyboard settings.

It's absolutely normal, French keyboard layout requires CAPS LOCK for numbers.

Lol, if it wasn't enough that layout isn't QWERTY, now you need caps lock? Fuck that travesty.
OP, get some cheap QWERTY keyboard for 5$ and relax.

just use alt + shift to change to english keyboard. or even better set english as default input language under control panel/keyboard. i am from slovakia and almost never need to use slovak letters.
