Which may trigger the fish guys to DDoS it to oblivion. The established player base will be a factor for a Korean to choose to continue to use Fish over ShieldBattery. Think of why many people and businesses choose to use Windows over other operating systems.

There will be no ability to host private games for the sake of repeat gaming? Sheildbattery wont have lobbys? As to the friend bit: thats the inertia I spoke of.Show nested quote + On June 02 2016 15:57 Dazed_Spy wrote: 1) They speak english well enough, 2) auto match making is a huge boon, 3) they dont have to go through the arduous account making process of Fish, 4) its compatible for new comps, yada yada. 5) What does Fish have? Just like they made their own version of iccup and their own version of launchers etc. They just copy everything like japanese cars copying from german cars lol I think that statement lacks the context of actual history Korea has had popular private servers since long before the foreign scene (Game-i and such were popular while the foreign scene was pretty much all using WGTour). We do plan to more directly support the Korean community with proper translations (and some better thinking around how to best support play between people that might not speak the same language, although I think automating matchmaking will help a lot with that), but its not at the top of our priorities at the moment. My major priority currently is getting a system that works extremely well for people I can easily communicate with and get feedback from (which is mainly the foreign scene). Once we have that in place, I very much expect that such a thing will be appealing to non-English speakers as well, and we'll have more time to focus on making the experience great for them as well and do more outreach to their communities. Thanks everyone for the feedback and patience. I was working on this every day before the announcement, and I've been working on it every day since. I promise it will be worth the wait ![]()

With matchmaking, I'm afraid that what you'll see pretty often is, getting a match, and then after seeing the enemy, people will leave so you have to queue up again. Why not have a matchmaking (or an alternative match making together with the regular one) where you cannot know the nickname or stats of your enemy until the match is over? might also help attract some koreans this way, cause I bet there are quite a bit that would like this feature

Koreans shouldn't be the goal. It's perfectly possible to have a great server without a single Korean. If there's a real concern about population, then let's try to get more people playing Broodwar, in the same fashion as Melee has been revitalized recently.
