there's not a lot of 2v2 strats or discussion usually. Even great 1v1 players can't play 2v2 worth a lick. i find 2v2 more exciting because units that aren't viable to be used in a 1v1 are much more viable sometimes in 2v2.

so what you guys think best combo is.

My 2v2 partner and I play dual Terran, and we hate to go up against the Terran/Zerg combination most of all =p

T/P works best imo, just ledge ur opponents, and use tanks to expo toss and terran. Then carriers/BC or goon/Tank etc easily overwhelm opponents.

2z VS 2p, the zerg fucking owns usually. Its so hard for 1 toss to defend 2 players worth of mutas.

But I like going terran/zerg vs anything.

Hmm, a good strat for 2z players is...


Well this is what Cory (Commmander[SB]) and I tend to do.
Both of us will 12 pool one player, while teching to lair and pumping lings out of 2 hatches. I usually go for hydra while Cory goes for muta. (Note: this is not against people with Z on there team). Harrass harrass yadda yadda.

Edit: Pumping speedlings ;D


Against people with one or 2 zergs I feel it necesary to go muta ling 90% of the time.

since 99% of bnet plays LT-only(yuk) and im sure most of you consider a '2v2' as on LT, then duel Zerg is the strongest.

Hunters ( quality map ) - Kor-style duo toss. As underated as Hunters is, ive played many proffesional koreans on Hunters since koreans see it as a 'training' map for 'micro and macro'. Since their are no ramps or ledges, its purely micro+macro that wins.

I could go on defining quality matchups for each map, but that could take hours T_T;.

me and my partner usually go pz with the z going speedling to muta or lurker and rush with the toss..
but we have trouble doing the terran/zerg combination, should the terran send initial first marine/scvs to help the zerg rush? or stay at base until good number of rines? the only thing i know how to do well with terran/zerg is to cliff with muta/tank.

Just like 1v1, 2v2 has the same set of limitations and differences based on what races the other guys are, like 2 Zs are strongest early game with zerg double speed rushing, but it's not going to do crap against a good terran d. TZ and TP are the best combos, ZP works well if you and your part can communicate REALLY well

zz is the best 2v2 combo. Theres a reason it's forbidden to choose double z in korean pro tournies. Its the same reason that almost every 2v2 team picks zerg/random, hoping to double z.

2v2 on LT, harassment combos are best.

medics/zeal, zeal/rines, 8 scv rush come to mind. Can you think of any other?

of course, also dual 9 pool but that's boring shit. You'll win like 80%+ games with that unless they are doing the same :D

Double Z at least on LT has too much advantage over other builds. They can automatically punish any partner that does a semi tech build. Anyone playing double Z have to go mass tier 1units to stop a double ling hit. Both opponents can't move out to help ally, because a smart double Z team will hit the opponent who moved his units out to help ally. So its a 2:1 game for for the first 5min or so. Zerg without enough sunkens on ledge won't be able to hold vs double ling, and protoss without either masses of zealots or a lot of zealots+cannon or shield wont hold either.

It forces the opponents to go defensive and spend too much money/time on defence than they should normally do instead of tech. Zergs with their vision on the opponents base can choose to expand and tech if both partners go defensive or xpand and mass ling to hit one if one doesn't play defensive enough. Speedlings are fast enough to race across the map to help ally which makes it hard to double gang up on one zerg till late game.

If both decide to bunker up all game, zerg can expand freely with mass mutas +lurks sealing the game.

I think double T is the only combo that can seriosuly make this kind of play difficult, but zerg which dictates the flow of the early game to mid makes it hard for any combo to do anything to zerg without playing defensive all game.

Terran/Protoss combo early on is pretty strong when your about to rush say another toss. Toss's zeals hold the ramp while marines come from behind. Usually wins depending on how the other partner reacts.

The bigger the map is, the more deadly zz becomes. But it's already v. good on small maps. As for anything with t in it, I laugh at it. In the beginning t is too slow to react too anything unless he gets a lucky close starting point. T can be deadly later but usually game is over by that time.
