I will suggest highly user-friendly designs for our launcher and website which will mean we don't have to put up with non-english speakers a lot compard to iccup.

Yeah, I would just focus on English for now, Koreans have their own server and pretty much everyone else outside of Korea who is into BW and online gaming has dealt with English.

If it's possible to remove a few items from that list, or to have them available in the same place, that would go a long way towards making BW easier to pick up. For example: imagine if you could log in with your (already created) teamliquid account? Or if you don't have to port forward?

Note that I'm not saying that teamliquid has to be in charge of running the proposed server, but if there's gonna be a new server, communication and cooperation with big BW communities such as TL and Defiler will be key. The closer fan communities and tournament organizers cooperate with the server admins, the better.

I agree with all this. If there was one file to dowload and double click that did all those things on the list, I'd switch immediatly.

is this possible? that would be a dream for newcomers and even vets.

I completely agree with this. It'll be better spending all this time and effort trying to fix issues between TL and iCCup, I'm sure there's a way out of it if people were not so stubborn.

It's not going to change iCCup though, because YelloAnt isn't going to update or improve the SCBW side of iCCup. And I doubt we can get anything changed with the administration. Myself and xboi and others have tried in the past to get iCCup improved, but it never happened. I'd love it if iCCup were to have all these features added and the administration changed but it isn't going to happen.

If you can pull this off by all means, but I suggest that once you are at a point that you can start showing something of do it! You need as much support and hype as possible. Do whatever you can to legitimize yourself. You seem to be a pretty cool guy and you are a pretty well known name (at least to me) in this niche community so I don't have much trouble trusting that you are indeed legit, but other people who might potentially play on your server don't and have no reason to.

And I think it is of vital importance that you set up some kind of partnership with TL (when you have a product to actually show them) so that your announcement threads will be featured at least. Nazgul and the other staff at TL are still very passionate about BW so I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilty that they would support your project.
