CombatEX has never and will never be good. He was an arrogant douche bag, but he was a lot funnier and wittier than CombatEX. Fakesteve did a sweet mspaint of Hovz authoring a book called "My life as a broodwar god", but I can't find it.

HovZ in my opinion was never that good. When Team USA was first made, he made the team and was top 10 USA material but even then, I used to be able to beat him and at that point, I played Terran and completely sucked. This is back in the early days of Grrrr... and Elky. Once the game evolved a little bit and players got better, HovZ couldn't keep up. Artosis, Nyoken, Rekrul, Froz, Assem, Day[9], and others were, and still are, far better than him. On April 07 2013 19:08 Shana wrote: Wasnt he the one that punched nextel? Yes. Nobody has mentioned this but in WCG 2003 hovz got 4th place. Top 2 went to Korea that year and it's very possible he could have gone. In loser bracket semis he had assem completely dead but threw the game away. It was legacy of char and he had all of the top half of the map while assem only had bottom left and was almost mined out. Assem was going BC/Turret to defend vs a mass wraith transition from a tank/goliath build and hovz just kept losing wraiths over and over. Eventually assem got bottom right and hovz never transitioned to anything else and lost. Ultimately he could have just built 10+ factories or went BC and ran over assem but he didn't. I watched this in person so I could see both players screen. It's too bad this replay most likely doesn't exist anymore. He then would have had to play Mcnasty for 2nd/3rd who he had already lost to before so he still may have not made it to Korea. Obviously placing high in 1 WCG doesn't necessarily mean you're great and since he quit we'll never really know if it was a fluke or not. As far as where he is now I've been told he just owns up the casino playing poker.

BTW, as far as USA goes, Dan (Artosis) who I believe you are referring to was the only player to compete in every WCG USA National Final every year since it began until he moved to Korea and couldn't attend anymore. If I recall correctly he still claimed that all spanish players were trash and him losing to a 2nd teir spanish player didnt meant anything since the top players were somehow worse. Also he wasnt trying ect. Been a while since I saw a TL thread where I recongize a majority of the names.

Anyone remember NiGoL or theogNis? TT1? I haven't seen them in forever. Never quite learned to trash talk until I met them =] I know most of the NeO) guys are on EG or retired. Graduated in 2011 or so and SC2 came out so I'm trying my hand at SC2 now. Will probably go back to grad school if it doesn't pan out. Nigol got caught hacking and he quit playing BW. I think he switched over to Dota (or maybe it was CS?) shortly thereafter and prolly hasn't gamed since then. TT1 and I are both on the same team atm: ROOT

Almost as if no one exists to him, like he's wondering if his reality is real. I kind of wished that he'd stop talking bad about Americans, and win us a GSL or something. Something interesting about him is that he can count your gas exactly as it's mined. I've never seen another pro bring up something like that.

I know he map hacked, and came up with the "shadow rush" however you call it, but all in all, he wasn't that bad. If you compared him to the jello clan, he wasn't blatantly MHing.
