I recall during a live report someone mentioned that they were showing at some time Nada describing a tip about how to load units into dropships fast. I watched his game at 815 vs Stork in the ex vs khan match and he indeed seems to be able to laod lots of units really fast. Since he showed a tip I guess it's not just his insane apm but there's something else involved as well? Did anyone watch this and feels like sharing?

I didn't watch it, but I think he does the following:

Select all the units you want to load,
Hold SHIFT and right click 1 dropship,
Continue to hold SHIFT and rightclick as many dropships as you want,
They will go in that order,

Hope that makes sense.

same thing if you click on a dropship then click and shift click on the units you want to load on it, shift is really really useful a lot of times

it is much much slower to shift click units to load because then the ships go around to every unit as a group whether they're going to pick up the unit or not, that and the units dont move towards the ships.

i mean it's better to select the units and shiftclick the ships, not shiftclick the units with the ships.

mini, that's not really a fast way, as the units load one by one with the way you describe and go from one dropship to another until it is full and so on until there are no more and it's just... not fast

and zulu, I don't think that's the way either, 'cause if done as you say it, only dropships move towards units, units remain still and they load one by one again, it's really not that fast either, I'm sure he has some other way of doing it.

It depends, you wanna click the closest ships and units to load first or they will be floating around stupidly with the queue, and then of course you want to do this on open ground with large drops cause otherwise your units will start running all over the place in a crowded area with transports trying to catch them

I had an FPVOD ages ago of TheMarine vs. a player I can't remember, but TheMarine would clone his units into the dropships so everything was picked up simultaneously.

selecting units and then shift-clicking dropships is the normal way to do it. but it is definitely not the fastest because the dropships will be loaded one by one. that means dropship one flies around to gather all the units before dropship two starts to move. the fastest way would be to select a group of units and right click on one ship; then select another group and right click on the next ship; etc. etc.

The fastest way is a combination of the two. Select a group of units, right-click on a Dropship to load them all, Shift-click to another Dropship, then another, then another, etc. Then select a different group of units, right-click on the end dropship, then Shift-click the rest of the dropships in reverse order. That's what I do and it works great for me.

To speed up the shift+click loading, order the dropships to move over the units that need to be picked up after you've given the shift+click orders. They will still load up the units, and do so in full flight.

Something that I commonly do with overlords is.. Selectshift but instead move the overlord overtop of the units.. It doesn't go to each one and if you get it right they go in very quickly.

I do this all the time

Shift click is so awessome. If I have an island and want to transfer units through transport, I box-click 12 workers, hold ship, click on shuttle/dship, then click on mineral again (holding shift) and what happens is that 8 out of 12 of the workers go in, and the rest of the 4 go back to work.

I also do this when loading mass amounts of units into multiple transports. This way they fill up all the transport before they go to the next one.

This is what I do, and it's VERY fast. And VERY easy! :D
A more interesting technique is unloading groups of dropships while they are still moving. I can do it 50% of the time, which is too risky for me. I usually just clone individual dropspots, or if controlling just one dropships, i right-click-move and left-click unit portraits.

If you only have 1 transport unit and some units to fill it up (e.g. 2 tanks and 1 dropship) I select all the units AND the dropship and right-click the dropship. It will load up both simultaneously.

However, if you have more than 1 transport unit, MiNi's idea is probably the best way.

This one is proabably one of the fastest way though. I mean i do it everytime because i'm zerg and i load a lot of units...
Basically it's like he said : you have for example 20 marines and 4 medics. And the dropships are far from them, what do you do ? simply right click the 3 dropship (and I MEAN NO SHIFT cauz otherwise all the dropships won't move) then shift right click to the dropship that are moving. Repeat with the rest of the group, doesn't matter which drop you want them to be loading as long as you shift clicked all the dropship (would be better cauz there'll always be units that'd be stucked). If there's a unit that didn't load then just right click the unit with all ur dropship selected.

It's just plain simple.
