Sonic wanted to send a message to teamliquid, but he is not very comfortable speaking English, so he requested that I post this in his stead. I will include the original message in Korean in case you want to read that.
Hello, members of Teamliquid ^^ This is BJSonic of Korea, currently in charge of the SSL. Starting a while back, the SSL was advertised on TL and I wanted to say thank you to all of you who have been following it. I want it to be a good spectacle for those of you who still have a passion for BW. Ever since its inception as an amateur league when I was 19 years old, it's been six years. Barring the two years I spent in the military, that means the league has been running for four years, and for this SSL, I wanted to show something special, something more for all the fans. Although a lot of unseen variables came up, everything worked out better than expected, especially thanks to all the fans from both Korea and Teamliquid.
Regarding the license, starting from the 8th SSL, I will be obtaining an official license, and I will be proceeding with extra caution as to not get tangled up in an amateurish mishap again. I want to say sorry for all the fans, and reflect on my mistakes. I will do my best not to disappoint fans of BW everywhere, and show a more improved BJSonic from hereon. If you have the opportunity, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the finals on December first, 2012, but I understand that it is probably impossible for a lot of you ^^ Even in the future, I hope that some of you will visit me while I am hosting a tournament! Because I have only interacted with Koreans my whole life, it will probably be very difficult to communicate, but I have faith that our love for the game can overcome any language or culture barrier.
Even the fact that one of my fans from Korea is willing to take the time to translate and post this message makes me so thankful, and I have been keeping up with your replies [on facebook, etc.] through translations. Thank you all for cheering for me, and I will try even harder to take this very far. Thank you ^^
Thanks for hosting such an awesome tournament (and for reaching out to TL)! I was pretty worried when I first heard the bad news, but it's great to hear that everything is going to go on without too much of a hitch. I'll certainly be watching the finals live!
remember guys, you can always add Sonic on Facebook and leave him a personal message there. Several foreigners have already done so and have left their messages, and Sonic really truly appreciates it.

Yea, this guy is a serious boss. Wrote him a nice thank you on his facebook and he takes the time to write a sincere thank you back. Awesome guy, and keeping BW rollin to boot!

sonic starleague league
i thoroughly encourage anyone who is in korea during that time to attend the finals. while it may not be as big as a spectacle as say, the osl or proleague finals, the grass roots-esque feeling of being at the final will surely be worth it.
tell sonic to return his apologies, there is no need to apologize for giving us the most entertainment ina long while for the BW Scene. This guy is a modern day hero and this incident is very unfortunate for us all.

Yeah, I don't know how he does all the work, most other people do nothing, then those people complain Sonic didn't do it well enough. No need for Sonic to apologize.
Wow, Sonic is only 25? Really impressive to see what he accomplished so far. I wish him all the success in the world with his personal business and of course, SSL
It is so awesome to follow something amazing happen right before our eyes. SSL and Sonic reminds me of Kim Carrier and OSL some 13 years ago, where they hosted BW tournaments by playing on the ping pong table. I'm really looking forward to see how far can Sonic come with SSL. Good luck and thank you Sonic!

Wouldn't it just be Sonic Star League?
TBH you can't really fault him that much for not taking into consideration the license. Its not a huge tournament (relative to OSL/MSL) and he is doing the majority of the work anyway.
This guy's a fucking hero. I hope that when I visit Korea one day, the SSL is still running and I can meet him. Hopefully my Korean will have improved by then :D
He saved BW for me! I work in front of computer writing down things in notepad, so i split the view and watch both notepad and the SSL or anything else sonic or others are streaming. And no matter what time it is in Poland, i'm sure something's ON ;d
Thank you, rotinegg for bridging the gap! Thank you, Sonic! You bring a lot of happiness and rekindled the flame of passion for BW that, for some of us, was starting to dwindle.
You have nothing to apologise for, so keep up the good effort!

Yaaay! Its so great to see we haven't been forgotten, foreign BWers, thank you so much for the work you do Sonic, and also for reaching out to us in such a kind manner. We will support!
Sonic, you're a personal hero to me. I'm not joking or exaggerating or anything like that. Whenever I've had a shit day I'm able to watch some professional Brood War and relax for a moment. It's impossible to be in a bad mood after seeing some exquisite reaver+shuttle micro, the sick mutalisk control and the ever-evolving strategies that leaves me gaping at the screen in wonder.
That wouldn't be possible without you, Sonic. Thanks <3

OMG I was so sad after reading the last thread on licensing issues but so glad to see that everything is resolved and good to go. I've watched Sonic youtube videos a whileee back when he was messing around on Battle net and doing all these crazy strategies w/ funny commentary lol. When I found out about his Starleague and his efforts to revive the BW pro scene I got so excited, SONIC HWAITING!!!!
^Im on top of it, its going to take place on the first of dec (saturday) and trying to find some more info on time and location etc. Minidong fighting !
It's insane how much he has done for the BW community. I haven't been following it as much as I should (blasphemy I know), but I definitely want to see how this final turns out.
